    Great! Just discovered this channel a couple of days ago and I'm loving it, every detail from the intro to the end, the calm music and your quite satisfying narration gives the video a different essence....Love how you explain everything so precise and calmly. This is definitely best channel to get started with drawing.....

    I love your videos, they are easy to follow and have given me the confidence to try coloured pencil drawings and portraits for myself as I need to make the transition from colouring books to doing my own work. I have done portraits in pencil for a while now, but just need to get used to working in colours before I make the leap into freehand. Many thanks.

    Although the baby oil made the pigment go into the grooves of your indentation, I think it still looks more natural than using ink gel pen or electric eraser. Thanks for sharing this technique.

    • @ArtFadil
      @ArtFadil  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Mary Cage yea. Its a bit tricky to use them. Make sure the drawing is completely dry. Then draw on some rough paper till gel is freely flowing. Then use it with a very light hand on the drawing. :)

    • @ShyFly1000

    So cute! Great technique with indentation, hadn't thought of that. How do you control the baby oil for blending? I struggle to not overdo it with too much oil, yet the brush doesn't seem to hold much either so I have to re-dip a lot.

    • @ArtFadil
      @ArtFadil  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Beret Nice Actually we need only minimal quantity of oil. the brush may be dry but you can even blend with that. try rubbing the brush over and over. But since i dont have that much patience, i re-dip a lot too. :P and always remember to use a synthetic brush.

    • @ArtFadil
      @ArtFadil  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Art@Fadil btw thank you for the compliment, i usually dip the brush in baby oil and wipe off the excess with a paper towel.

    • @designsofluid8308
      @designsofluid8308 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the reply! I will try and be more patient :)

    • @pegcage
      @pegcage 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try using Q-tips instead of brushes. They work well as blending stumps too. When using Q-tips with baby oil, you will have to blot with a paper towel in order not to get too much on the drawing.

    • @designsofluid8308
      @designsofluid8308 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks! I still struggle with it though as I always feel like the baby oil, after being dabbed, still isn't enough to blend. I probably just need practice... and patience...

    Hi! You said that we need to use a good quality paper. But which one? I have canson basik and canson for watercolors, but with the basik the baby oil doesn't go well. Which one do you recommend/

    • @ArtFadil
      @ArtFadil  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      baby oil works well on grained surface. I used canson ca grain paper for this drawing. i don't know about the ones you mentioned. for smooth papers we don't need baby oil since we can achieve a smooth result by using pencils alone.

    • @ArtFadil
      @ArtFadil  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      they both give the same result at the end. when using turpentine tend to dissolve the colors faster. but sometimes its difficult to control. but baby oil is slow, but easy to control, non toxic and has a mild pleasant odor.
