I find it weird in the first few episodes Savitar was beating on Flash like a redheaded stepchild but in the newer one's Flash seems to be even with him somehow

I'm guessing he just got worse and worse to the point where it was easier for him to be evil until he realized who Savitar really was. Time remnant Barry only exists if Barry is driven to creating a time remnant. So its a vicious cycle. Eventually he learns that he is happier being Savitar than dealing with the pain, but he also gets trapped in the speed force for a long time which drove him insane.
