Timberwolves fan here. As talented as kat is he’s so tough to watch in my eyes. He’s always in foul trouble, constantly crying to the refs. Gets hurt every year, he’s a great shooter but doesn’t play the post well at all. Plays really soft. Besides the playoffs this year he doesn’t play deffense. I’m on the boat of trading him and have been for years he’s not a top 10 player in the nba and is getting paid like one. I’m glad he was traded. Knick fans I wish you the best with him.

Long time polite Knicks/No Dunks fan. Luv yr show. I agree with Trey that Towns will probably play the 4 when Robinson comes back. Hart would be great as the first wing off the bench. Right now we just have McBride and Achiuwa as the small and the big, but our wing depth is entirely gone. My first gut reaction to the trade was sadness, bc we had been building such great Villanova vibes and I've never been a fan of Towns personality or his lack of defensive awareness. Knicks fans hate lack of defensive awareness (Bargnani, Barrett, Randle), and it'll be glaring after watching Hartenstein and Robinson last season. He'll undoubtedly make us a more dangerous offensive playoff team though, pulling size out to the perimeter while Brunson puts all that pressure on the paint like he does.
Skeets made an off-the-cuff remark somewhere in here that KAT shoots 10 threes/game and makes 4-5 of them. I'm sure there was a little exaggeration intended (only Luka/Curry shot 10 per game last year) but as one of the many Wolves fans who hoped KAT would have gotten to those numbers, the reality is much closer to him shooting 5-6 threes/game and making 2 of them. For how good he is at shooting from deep, the volume never really reflected that. He was ~60th in the league in 3PA/game last year, just behind Wemby/JJJ and just ahead of Brook Lopez/Jabari Smith. This was surprising to me, but the most threes KAT has attempted in a season is 366. Julius Randle(!) cleared that for 3 straight seasons - peaking at 636 attempts(!!) - and was on pace to make it 4 straight last year before his shoulder injury. KAT shoots much better than those guys and his skill alone helps space the floor, but he doesn't shoot enough to actually punish teams from deep the way we sometimes think he does.
Ant trying to play point like Luka doesn't sound like a good idea. That will go about like Booker at the point. Those guys cannot do what Luka does which is why they aren't as good as him and never will be.
Wish they kept the Villanova core and were able to trade Randle for 2 players who would compliment Brunson even more. I guess this trade happened this way due to the new cap.
As a Knicks fan i really wanted to see the 4 nova kids lineup but we were weak at center and Kat needa work on rebounding and stay healthy and we could be good
This is a good trade for Minnesota. KAT is entering the 1st year of a 4 yr $220+ million deal. Randle is a good player and can be easily moved if things don't work out. DiVincenzo is a good role player on a cheap deal. The protected 1st they got has a decent chance of conveying in 2027. Minnesota was good last year but I don't think they were going to be good enough moving forward to justify being one of the most expensive teams in the league, especially with the 2nd apron restrictions.
I think Precious should start at the 4. Hart can be the energy guy / leader off the bench. Sims should get an opportunity to back up KAT. Cam Payne is a guy nobody is talking about but has been a solid bench player throughout his career. Tyler Kolec looks like a rookie who can be descent right away. and oh yeah Duece will be a factor too. Mitch when he comes back in December maybe and by the way we got Shamet who can fill in and do a descent job. Big trouble I think not !

I personally do not think Randle will be in the long term plans for the Wolves. They knew they would lose Reid in the offseason if they did not trade Towns and DiVincenzo is a great get. Bargain contract and he put up 21 ppg on 43% shooting on 3s over the last 30 games of the season.. Dropped 40 in a playoff game. Underrated player somehow even having been on the Warriors and Knicks.

Kat doesn’t shoot 10 threes a game and that was the problem. For years they’ve asked him to shoot more but he doesn’t come of screens or shoot of the bounce. It’s great to shoot a high percentage but when you shoot less that 6 a game it doesn’t matter as much.
Wolves made it to conf finals with Kat coming off knee injury, and a tired Ant. Give them another year and include progress from the youth and this team makes conf finals or finals easily. Isnt the point of building a team to get to the last rounds of playoffs? We had a team that was likely going to do that again. Swept suns, beat the champs, ran out of gas against Dallas. We shouldnt mess with that. I have a hard time seeing it happen with Randle, but hope I'm wrong. Maybe he will step up and be a team player. Or maybe they'll trade Randle and someone else for a bonifide superstar post player.

I am excited to see what Finchy does with a smaller, more flexible lineup both offensively and defensively. This is completely Ant’s team and everything is in his shoulders more than it already was. Can they be competitive at the championship level with Mike Conley and Rudy and then transition from then without dipping into mediocrity? Tim Connelly apparently thinks so. I’m not so sure but I don’t know if they could get any further by just running it back. I’m cautiously optimistic that this huge change and subsequent moves will get the Wolves to compete for a title very soon.
