Perfect timing for me. My puppy is 22 weeks right now. He isn’t anywhere near this level in the retrieving sense. He does well at distances in an open and free setting. I just don’t have many chances for water exposure. So that is definitely the next step for me. Is working on kennel heavy to reenforce that, and getting him retrieving in water
Might be a silly questions but Do you allow your dogs to play with the bumpers when they aren’t training with them? And if so how do you get them to stop trying to chew on the knot without them then thinking you don’t want them to not like the bumper
I have a chocolate lab who is 20 weeks old but he will not pick up a bumper. When I throw it he’ll run to it but not pick it up. How do I get him to pick it up and bring it back
If the dogs name is also going to be it's "go" word don't say it when you give them praise or like when you said "no rocky" when he broke. Just say "no here" it would also be the perfecttime to give a nick. You were basically telling him no then go. And instead of saying good girl Kelly 20 times. Just say good, good girl, good here.... that way you don't risk confusing the dog. I was guilty of doing the same thing. Then at club training days all of the more experienced guys and pros jumped me and said it's a bad idea.

Yeah the good marker becomes meaningless if over used. Needs to be used purposefully
