RE2R actually got me back into gaming after a few years of not really playing
Re2r was my first resident evil
2R is still my favorite...
They knocked it out of the park.
2R and Dead Space R will be staying on the external ssd
RE 2 and RE 4 Remakes are a 9/10 for me. The only thing holding back RE2 Remake from a perfect score was the second scenerios weren't that much different than first scenerio, in the orginal game it made claire and leons interactions make more sense but certain things in second scenerio dont make sense in the remake.
the story is so bad in the remake. the dumbed down every character and never write anything even remotely interesting. gameplay is a 10/10, but the story ESPECIALLY compared to the original, is a solid 3/10.
RE6... a dark cloud over the franchise is a understatement

Something I miss is the marshaling yard. There is sort of the area in Claire B scenario but not the same vibe of calmness yet eerie feeling .. I still love all the remakes so far, even if nemesis felt a little lamer in the remake … each one has been an amazing time to play. Re1 remake is still my absolute favorite

Personally, and I say this as someone like you, re2 og is my favorite game of all time.
Re2R, Mr X should have only appeared in scenario B, not in A, and scenario A get more zombies , more jump scares, more of the feeling of isolation and being alone while scenario B should have been an intense ride.
Another thing, scenario A decisions should have made a difference in scenario B, you touched this topic.
RE2 Remake was the first RE game I’ve ever played and I remember being blown away by it back when I played in 2019. I’ve never played the OG or older games with a fixed camera but I’ll have to give it a try to compare the two

I loved RE6 at the time. I think I was just so excited to have so many of the characters together. It DEFINITELY had issues but Re7 was so much worse than 6 to me. I only played it once and just DID NOT like Ethan. I hated how off Chris looked. I was disappointed when it actually was Chris and not HUNK like a lot of people thought it might be due to the RE3 Epilogue - myself included. It just wasn't a great game.
RE2 remake was great, but they left out a lot of content. B Scenario was a huge let down. I wanted more of the streets. I wanted B to make more sense because it takes place a little after A, but instead they just cut it entirely. It certainly has a lot of issues, but I still love it, just not as much as the original re2.

RE2R is my favorite of the remakes. I agree the scenario issue was disappointing (I refused to even play it for a whole year because of that, until a friend convinced me I was missing out), and I have a handful of other issues not many people talk about. But the way they made an aiming system that complimented their core inventory management design makes it probably my favorite game in the series. I do still think RE1R is the golden standard of remakes, but despite losing some things I love about the original, RE2R is the best the series has ever been in my opinion.

@@mauricescott6339 you’re right, let me clarify it. In the OG the some of the decisions you made in the “A” scenario effected the play in the “B” scenario. The remake didn’t have that, which took away some of the joy of playing it.

i remember saying to myself in 2015 why dont they remake Re2 like re4 with an over the shoulder view. it came true years later. re2 remake is my favorite of the remakes still till dis day.
I always said the same thing- “why can’t we get a remake of RE2 with an over the shoulder view” and they finally did it- man the remake is amazing!!!

RE2 remake was when the franchise went into the right direction where we are at now.
While the OG 2 is my favorite, the game was super linear, the remake actually had less linearity in comparison. The Tyrant sequences were not scripted, which is awesome, the puzzles were switched around and the overall game was more challenging in comparison. The G creatures made the sewers challenging and the lab was difficult with the plant 43 zombies and of course the puzzles.
Any interaction between Claire and Leon, aside from the beginning andbthe very end they dont see or speak to each other. RE1R is the perfect remake
5 years since RE2, since then we've had RE3, 4 and 8. Pretty strong output from capcom, even though 3 was a huge missed opportunity.
I’ve been playing RE my entire life since the first game came out on PS1. The original RE2 was always my favorite of the games but now RE2 remake is my favorite!!! RE7 and Village are good games but they don’t feel like RE games at all.
And the demo for RE7 called Kitchen Sink was before PT Capcom didnt take from PT in anyway.

I agree with your criticisms, it isn’t perfect but I love the game anyways. One aspect I really like was the surround sound. I played the game shortly after buying a Dolby Atmos 7.1.2 sound system. Hearing Mr X. stomp around the station, zombies and rain from behind me was a fantastic experience. It was really well implemented.
ReMake is still the best for me. I loved 2Make, 3Make was really meh, 4Make is very good (although I played hardcore my first play through) and the balance felt weird.
I actually love the RE3 remake. I did have the original, but I was too young to get very far into it, so no clocktower nostalgia. I just think the remake it a really fun and tight game. Can play it in 2 hours. I love 2 and 4 remake, but I go back to 3 the most.
Perhaps controversial, but I'd love a remake of the original without fixed cams and fleshed out a little.
Idk man :/ I really miss the feeling of immersion that the original had with all the documents. Feels like they weren’t even trying to tell the story, they just gave us straight up gameplay. Good gameplay but without depth.
I think RE2R is an AMAZING survival horror game, but a bad remake. All the personality of the original RE2 is mostly gone in the remake, which happens when you remove almost all interactions between Leon and Claire, the soundtrack, almost half the enemies, the zapping system, the B scenarios, the interesting notes connecting to past events, and the art direction (the environments are now 90% dark warehouses/hallways with no distinct atmosphere).
It gets a free pass way too often, imo. Even still, I love it.

they gave re3 2020 to another team? that might be why it was no were near as good as re2 remake. obviously the team who made re2 2019 did a great job.
Resident Evil 2 remake, was definitely an almost perfect remake. After playing both scenarios for Leon and Claire, and looking at how the mechanics are compared to the original resident evil two game, you can see that it has improved significantly however, the some downsides.
In one example, character developments in the remake include how Leon doesn’t take the proactive approach as a leader to communicate with Claire, and have both him and her, including Sherry to escape the city. Something that was missing that we saw in the original. In the remake, they don’t really talk to each other as much if not at all and that’s kind of a downside because the original showed the potential approach of Leon’s leadership and that made him a better and stronger person to the man that we saw in the future evil games and animation films.
The other reason is because the scenarios although were good, and it’s on right were me copies of each other regardless, if you played as Leon or Claire. The original, didn’t do that and each character had its own unique story. Where Leon A and Claire B was an alternate story plot. And Claire A and Leon B was the canon story.
I don't agree resident evil 6 is a great game, it gave us a lot of content compared with any other resident evil title ever in history.
and on top of that it made a lot of money.

RE6 is not an ideal RE game but it sold ok? RE6 was the 2nd highest selling game behind RE5 and until Monster Hunter World came out. As a co-op gameiy was awesome though i personally hated Jake part.
They got Leon just right, but Claire looks like an Anorexic infant, I partly don’t want a CV remake because I know they are going to make Claire look completely different from her Curvier CV look. 😢
I feel like half the people that worked on RE2R never played the original and the half that did, didn't like it. I played through both "scenarios" and deleted it off my hard drive. No reason to ever play it again. It feels soulless to me.

What I hate about re2remake is the color scheme. I play on console and it's dull and washed out
Are there no brightness settings or what? First setting to max, second to min. Third in the middle. Might fiddle with Srgb/rec701 setting, see if that helps
Terrible 😭😭😭🫤🫤 I tried playing it once it premiered on Xbox game pass and it was extremely hard to move that slow and have such terrible aim It was so slow shooting was so terrible it was nothing like resident evil 8 and 4 remake amazing for its time but it aged probably worse than every other re in history 😭
Probably a skill issue on your part.
