The trick is to help them find where their unique skills can be used. I suppose that’s for anyone but even more critical for those with ASD

Not all with autism are creative, intelligent, empathic, nor gifted in some manner. I am living proof of this. There is nothing outstanding about me. I have no creativity, slightly below average intelligence, can not detect the emotions of others in the slightest, nor am I good at anything at all. Yet I have Aspburger's Syndrome, schizophrenia, and clinical depression. About the only thing I can do better than almost all people is do things completely alone that most require help. Since others could detect that I am defective, I have never had friends. Thus, I taught myself to do things completely alone that many say can not be done without help. I require not help from anybody for anything. I guess that just makes me antisocial.

@@ahmadag1820 I am undoubtedly below average. I have accomplished nothing noteworthy in my existence. The autism keeps me from any sort of success, save perhaps that I learned English completely of my own accord. I am so behind that I still live in the exact same home I lived in 2000 and still drive the exact same automobile. This is largely because income forbids me from progressing to a better home, a different automobile, or a different life. At least I keep my automobile running and my home will be paid in full soon. But, stagnation, mediocrity, avoidance of others, and existential retardation are the adjectives that describe my existence. I am good at only one thing, being alone.

It’s quite astonishing to say that I relate with you in certain ways. Like reading you describe yourself has been revealing to me personally. Just the way you go about conveying your thoughts, the choice word you use, its very much of, and from your own mind, and how you think and view the world. Why is that interesting because its purely original. It’s not to a common pattern, or predictable outcome. One can assume this in most situations or context predicting the “flow” of said conversation, and usually knowing where it might trend, or end up. You are of your own volition. You’re also the one putting this invisible ceiling over your head as well. I want you to suspend your disbelief for a moment, try to be as outside of yourself as possible when thinking of you in this moment. Guide yourself, grow yourself, teach yourself, be yourself without limitations. These “Limitations” aren’t as solidified as you may believe. It’s these standards, these very rigid man made social constructs that you, an Autistic brain shouldn’t even bother putting yourself into as it just doesn’t even apply to you, or I, or anyone else on the Autism spectrum. They’ll only hold you back because you’re trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. It doesn’t and will not work. Transcend your boundaries and make it easier on yourself to get out more from this experience. You are the master to your own destiny. Easier said than done, obviously, but don’t insult yourself, it’s ridiculous, and I see right through it… Now, can you see it? :) Love, and appreciate you always. Btw love the name choice, you little alien you. @Indrid Cold

I am an aspie with ADHD, OCD and dyscalculia. I consider myself an extrovert yet socializing with neurotypicals is draining to me, actually painful and I find myself unable to interact with them at all, majority of the time. I am much more creative and I hate small talk and dancing around truth. I despise liars and I love authenticity.

It;s the social codes. The time spent learning the social codes by NTs is much much higher than ours and additionally, we don;t care for it. Say what you mean, mean what you say is how I prefer to experience communication generally. Be clear,. It;s difficult to read the multiple contradictions that NT's play with. To me it;s a waste of energy I'd rather enjoy applying to other things.

As a kid I considered a lot of social behavior phony and neurotic. I wanted people to be open about motivations, beliefs, etc., and had very little patience for all the covert rules of social hierarchy and etiquette. I analyzed these things like an anthropologist, but had no gut-level understanding of that level, and eventually just lost interest. To me this behavior was a waste of time. What were they after? Sex? Social status? My own interests were in music and chemistry, and the only people in high school who seemed to be on my wavelength were in orchestra. Music was actually important. All those social games were ridiculous and sort of disgusting. I made friends with this girl who was a particularly successful social conformist, and smart too. I was sort of studying her, to try to figure out what in the hell she was doing.

Autism is easy to understand, but not to the NT's.
What we call "autistic" is actually an advanced mind and advanced soul, compared to the majority of society.
    1. We are very honest. Thus, her example of knowing when people lie, and how to manipulate others, is something that other people do. The more advanced soul will not even consider such things. And is therefore surprised to discover someone is deliberately cruel.
    2. Focusing on one thing is actually studying the process. When the young "autistic" is watching the water drops, or other processes, he is actually observing as a scientist. Observing, mentally recording, and asking himself questions. This is the mind of a curious scientific person.
    3. Not speaking until later. I use this phrase, because it applies in many ways. Autistic people are generally thinkers. Enormous amount of thinking happening, at all times, from the earliest ages. He will only consider speaking when he has a conclusion, or something important to say.
    4. Intellectual and Creative Talents. Again, this is because of an advanced mind, which is always observing, thinking, and processing. Usually on the favorite topics. This leads to innovations and art.
    5. Talking only about their topic of interest. This is actually an NT trait, more than Autistic. Many of us with advanced minds are extremely bored and repulsed by the topics of conversation of most people. They don't realize just how much we get bored or aggravated by their topics.
The only difference is that the NTs consider their topics as the normal topics and activities. They are bored by the topics of the Autistic, and the Autistics are equally bored by the topics of the NTs.
For example, many NTs enjoy gossip, emotional drama, and power dynamics. Autistics are interested in science, technology, great art, and big ideas. Our topics don't overlap.

I did not know this degree of pomposity, grandiosity and egoity was part of autism. But I guess the self-aggrandizing notion you are a superior soul explains that. I doubt you have autism; sounds more like psychotic delusions of grandeur.
One more thing - your dimwit list describes none of the autistic people I have encountered. They are all NOT great creatives. You sure have a big ego or a major delusion.

What ratio of autistics are in institution wearing football helmets because they bang their heads against the wall or floor. How many are pretty much incapable lumps with no skills at all. How many just can't function, period. I would suspect the majority. Autism is NOT some Newage Sewage "indigo child" nonsense about a New Human - it about being isolated, bullied, misunderstood and ultimately, about becoming a failure. Even intelligence is a curse. I have been fired many times for benig smarter than the boss. BS on the advanced soul delusion.

No chance of translating this video for Spanish speaking people. ''Contributing with subtitles is not allowed''. The same old story. Should I talk of cultural colonization and monopoly? or just go ahead and post the translation in my channel? (and maybe get kicked off youtube after a copyright warning).
I just ask once again for permission to post it in my channel. Contributions may take months to be given the OK and published; that is, if they are ever revised, and not just forgotten and dumped).
    Maybe somebody cares to answer.

We haven't had external offers to translate our videos before, but have now turned on community captions so please do go ahead. If it's helpful, we also produce some international language videos which are already translated, which focus on our international policy work collaborations: bit.ly/2EfcZJV

I guess you mean Francesca Happé. Well, I think her work ir not only worth translating but also important. However, as I already said, most of my contributions have been waiting in a line for a really long time. Waiting for another voluntary translator experienced on the issue to revise it, I guess. And the few texts that already were published don´t even mention the translator. That is both disappointing and also makes you wonder if someone has read your translation, as they no longer expect to find one: the tendency to add no subtitles and even not allowing contributions (be it by default, carelessness or intentionally) is set long ago. So expectations are also low long ago. Search for ''Uta Frith Spanish", for instance, and see the results. That´s why I included some of her videos translated in my channel: the people who finds those translations there can also find links (lists) to the other channels with subtitled videos, which are known to be quite few and hard to find.
This is not definitely Brussel´s Translation Service: nobody rushes you or screens every comma you write.
Thanks to open your contribution options though. I will translate something on your list and see how long it takes to be revised and published.
Of course I hope you have no problem in I add some video to my channel, pointing out the original source where Spanish speakers can find subtitled videos about this kind of issues.

Its January 14th, 2019. More than a month ago I submitted the Spanish translation, as a free contribution. But it´s still waiting in a long line; to be 'reviewed'? A long line of scientific information, mainly on autism and Asperger, that has been put away like in an old drawer instead of added to the videos as subtitles after a short check.
So, I tried, and my efforts have been useless. Obviously I gave up translating those scientific videos, quite disappointed, amazed, outraged and somewhat bitter....After struggling (in an naive, idealistic attempt) against a system that really freezes the process of subtitling into non English languages...Inspite all that ''Your contributions" option.. That is just a failure in the system or an intentional show.
As I had already said: if you are not an English speaker, scientific contents are not available to you. An that is so even in cases as Francesca Happé, of French parents, still no translations even into French.
Francesca Happé even gave a talk in France, organized by the French society for autism. You can check by yourselves: she just apologizes for not using the language of her parents... in the country of her parents... and invited for French parents of autistic children, who had to hire simultaneous interpreters... an expensive and not completely accurate way ( I have both knowledge and experience on that)
The same with the interviews and talks by Uta Frith: she moved to the UK and uses just English as a work language. Even if she graduated in Germany in her youth and started both her career and research there: ironically enough, professor Uta Frith was the one who translated Hans Aspergers´s files from German into English.
So...Despite all promises to allow access to this crucial information non English speakers the "voluntary contributions" system in youtube doesn´t seem to be of much use.
Let´s everyone draw their own consequences.
PS. Here you have my translation into Spanish, after correcting the English original (The automatic translation has the mistakes of a machine translator)

      Dear spanixtan spanixtan
      ,
Thank you very much for your translation of Fran Happe's video, and for providing it freely to us as comments. We hugely appreciate your contributions and efforts to widen the circle of people who are able to access cutting edge scientific research on important topics affecting people's everyday lives.
As a channel controller, please note that we are not able to approve translations for our own videos. This is a standard part of TH-cam's peer review process. Our channel is not notified that you have submitted translations. We are not invited nor are we able to approve or reject the translations. TH-cam's translation approval process relies on the involvement of the wider community to avoid collusion.
However because, like you, we recognise the value of the translations you provide, we have reached out to the wider community following your request. Hopefully your translations should now be approved through TH-cam's mechanisms.
In the future, if you are seeking to translate our videos, do not hesitate to provide the translation as a comment underneath. This way we, as the channel controllers, will be notified of your work. We can then actively reach out and seek others to approve the translations, rather than passively relying on the translating community to approve the captions. Given the value of these translations to the wider public, this is something that we will very much support.
Once again, muchas gracias for your efforts on behalf of future viewers.

@@acmedsci Dear Sirs: its October 2019. I wonder if you consider it as being in 'the future'. Anyhow, time in science is crucial, a used-by date.
It's quite surprising to read that still you are still 'not able' to do some research on your rights to make the best of my now one-year old- contribution (a translation in Spanish).
Your answer: ''it´s not up to us, but to youtube politics'' seems rather strange. But maybe you are right and it´s youtube politics.
I see clearly that publishing scientific contents in other languages is more and more rare. English is being used as monopolistic cultural tool.
