    Man, I was a huge sucker for anything 3D back in the day (even as simple as Wolfenstein 3D)! I wanted to use a Virtual Boy soooo bad, but I never got to. Makes sense Sega had one too, but I didn't know they had something like this, and so superior to the Virtual Boy in many ways (since the virtual boy was only monochrome 3-layer parallax)
    Space Harrier 3D is the perfect implementation for something like this, but yeah, that would be sooo hard!
    Poseidon Wars 3D is hella ambitious! I'm shocked that in a pre-anti-aliasing world, they were willing to have that much 3D depth to a game.
    Very cool list, and I didn't know about a single one of them, so this is awesome! Hopefully it goes full on viral 😀

      Here's another mind blower. Nintendo release this technology as well on the NES, just only in Japan.

      One of my favorite things about you is how geeked up you get with technology and learning how things work whether it was the light phaser or the 3D glasses! Oh don't tease me on Wolfenstein 3D.... that's one of my all-time favorite games and I played it so much as a kid on PC. LOL I tried a Virtual Boy for the first time last year... it was a cool concept but the red man.... the red.....
      I'm happy you enjoyed this video so much! One of these days I need to get you a Master System!!! Thanks for watching.

    The only game I played with these glasses from a friend was Out Run 3D. I thought it was so futuristic! I´ve always liked innovative ways to play videogames, was a fan of Kinect in Xbox 360 and now got a PSVR2 for the PS5 and love it.. I think these glasses maybe were the great-grandfathers of VR!

    • @TigerChainsawVideoGames
      @TigerChainsawVideoGames  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I bet you have some cool memories of playing that game then! The Kinect is something I've yet to experience, I think it would be cool to try out. Wow, you have the PSVR2? That is pretty nifty! I hope it succeeds and that we see a good library for it. Thanks for watching!

    Some pretty cool games that sound like they utilized 3D well. Outrun makes sense as one, so much so that Sega released Outrun 3D on the 3DS using it's 3D functionality. Great topic, TC!

      I think the Nintendo 3DS is the only system I can play continuously in 3D without needing to take breaks. The rest I need some rest for my eyes. I wasn't aware of OutRun 3D on the 3DS but now that I think about it, it's a no-brainer. There are some very solid games on this list. Thanks for watching buddy!

    I have most of these and the working glasses. Maze Hunter is probably the most fun to actually play, but Missile Defense has the most impressive 3D effect. Every part of me wants to love Space Harrier 3D, but man, is it choppy.
    A couple of things that might be useful to anyone interested- a Genesis/Mega Drive with a Power Base Converter will work with the 3D glasses and Light Phaser. Also, if you want to try Maze Hunter 3D, it is included in the Sega 3D Classics collection on Nintendo 3DS. It's not exactly the same experience as the glasses and a CRT, but it's a pretty solid way to play one of the best games from this lineup.

    Nice list! I've always considered 3D to be a gimmick as it came and went with multiple companies taking a shot at it at different points in time without any real success. And it's looking like VR is going that way as well. I wonder why those technologies didn't take off and gathered more of a following. I mean, sure, you could say that the technology wasn't as good back then on the Master System, but Sega should at least get more credit for being one of the first to release it out there! Great video and keep up the good work!

      @@pacmantravel2158To be honest, I don't know. You should be able to play the games but am not sure the 3D effect would work.
      The 3D glasses also require a device which plugs in the front of the Master System as well as a cable which runs from the device into the Glasses. Am not sure if emulation could recreate this.

      If you don't care about collecting original hardware, you can use 3D glasses from many other brands and they are MUCH better in price (and not broken). This is because the technology came back a few times for GPUS and 3DTVs over the years (as long as they have the same style of stereo plug). Even the Nintendo glasses that were released only in Japan will work. I got an Asus (Vr-100g I think) and they are probably the easiest to find. The only catch is you still need the card adapter and people do sell them separately for reasonable prices.

      It's just the glasses and a card slot adapter. They don't use a color wheel or anaglyphic effect; they're more like modern 3D glasses using a shutter effect that syncs with the refresh rate of the monitor. It works very well in practice, though the glasses aren't overly comfortable.
