Are there more videos of the Japan trip? I hope to be able to cycle in Japan this summer! Hokkaido seems like a lovely place. The Taiwan KOM challenge route seems cool too.

    Hello. Cyclingtips
My name is KyungWook MIN as bike mechanic at trek concept store.
Actually I’m your big fan from South Korea. But I was very disappointed when I saw this video because of The rising sun flag 0:27. That flag is a a symbol of World War II like a nazi flag.
I don't want to delete this video, but I’d like you to know the true meaning of this flag and history.

Hi KyungWook, thanks for pointing this out. We honestly didn't not know that this had any symbolism surrounding it and it was just meant to be a representation of the Japanese flag. We sincerely apologies if this is taken for more meaning than we intended.

@@VeloVeloVeloTV I'd actually re-upload it... It is pretty harsh thing to have on this channel, but well, you know better I assume

Calling you out on this. While there may be connotations in some SEA countries - eg Korea - the parallel drawn with the Nazi flag is both disingenuous and a self-serving mentality. The rising sun flag has been used since feudal times and remains the JSDF Naval Ensign. It has been acceptable to host nations [eg Korea again] for it to be flown during military visits and sporting events. It is also used in many advertising and gala events. If you must limit the symbolism to one of Imperialism, then we should also ban the Union Jack, French Tricolour, Chinese Flag etc etc. I'm truly sorry if the flag offends you personally Kyung Wook MIN, but suggest that you have made your minority PC point.

@@spdaltid I agree with some, but this isn't just a matter of imperialism. Japan is an obvious World War II war criminal state, and the Rising Sun Flag was a symbol of that time. Western countries are ignorant of Japan's use of the Rising Sun Flag because, unlike Nazi Germany, which caused direct damage in Europe, Japan's war crimes are mainly limited to East Asia and thus are not aware of the seriousness of them. It is very unfortunate that this opinion that considers the Rising Sun Flag insignificant.

It was in August of this year. Actually, the first attempt with Dan and Brodie was in July, but that didn't end so well...
