It is definitely possible for 8 players to survive 9 questions. Out of the 22 mini games, only 7 (Donations, Greed, High Rollers, Lock and Key, Phones, Quiplash, and Tattoos) guarantee a death. In fact, it isn't even necessary that every player gets every single question right. The chances of this happening are still slim, though, with cash rewards (e.g. Password), minigame rules that vary based on the number of players (e.g. Dictation), and plain old chance (e.g. Scratch-Off) getting in the way.
I've been a little hyperfixated on this game since last night when i played it and it frightened me a little while playing this particular jackbox game with my dearest friends (don't ask, despite the game clearly being a dark comedy i'm quite easily unnerved about stuff that speaks so heavily to the idea of death.) I will admit, it's quite interesting to see how the host character (REDACTED is his name i believe?) gets quite annoyed when people don't play along.

Lock and Key happens when multiple players are still alive when it's time for the final round so it's how it determines who starts alive in the final round
