St-Petersburg is built on a very soft and wet soil. They had to make the metro very deep, otherwise it could damage buildings on the surface by soil settlement and vibration. And stations of this design, comprised of three smaller tunnels instead of one large hall, are more reliable and easier to build at large depth in weak soil.

These doors are not water tight though, there are gaps about an inch wide on sides. In fact you can even catch a glimpse of the approaching train through them.

This should be implemented in the NYC subway system to prevent delays. These jackasses hold doors for their friends and the whole line gets delayed. Maybe if they loose a few fingers they won't do it again.
These doors are the safest. They open sequentially. First the inner door, then the outer. There is a minimum gap between the doors, no one can get there or squeeze into the tunnel space. The most experienced train drivers work on this line. The exact stop of the train is required in front of the doors. The train slows down very slowly so as not to pass by. Also, the train is equipped with laser sensors that signal the position of the wangons in front of the doors.

Я из Петербурга, на краях этих дверей большой слой резины, они просто зажимают безболезненно, много раз видел люди не успевают зайти их прижимает и они спокойно раздвигают эти двери)
Вон оно что. Меня щемило дверями самого поезда метро и пригородной электрички, не сказал бы что "спокойно" их раздвинул, усилий это потребовало приличных.

@@littlerussianmax5831 но он же не тормозит сразу с крейсерской скорости до полной остановки, это всё равно дополнительное время нужно чтоб сначала замедлиться, а потом ровно в нужной точке окончательно встать. А если б точность нужна была меньше, то та же самая автоматическая система останавливала бы быстрее, просто врубив тормоза на оптимальное усилие

自分が乗ってる範囲で言えば、東京メトロとか都営地下鉄、JR東日本では、かなりホームドア設置が進んでる。
JRの同じ駅でも、東海道線は付いてなくて、京浜東北線は設置されてる、みたいな所もある。
これからもっと設置が進むのだろう。

Electrical voltage is removed on the contact rail, passengers are released into the tunnel. At the nearest station, the doors are opened and passengers are received. Also, for safety, rescuers are sent into the tunnel from both sides of the train so that everyone can be evacuated and no one stayed in the tunnel.
