Actor Robert Sorrells, who played Cece, died in prison in 2019 at age 88, while serving a sentence of 32 years-to-life for murder. The conviction stemmed from a 2004 bar incident in Simi Valley, CA, in which Sorrells was forcibly ejected from the premises by another patron, Arthur DeLong, after becoming belligerent while drinking. Angered, Sorrells went home, retrieved a pistol and returned to the bar, whereupon he shot DeLong in the back at point blank range, killing him instantly. He then turned the weapon on an uninvolved bystander he had never previously met, before quickly fleeing the scene in a Volkswagen van. The second victim, Edward Sanchez, was wounded, but thankfully survived the shooting. Sorrells, meanwhile, was apprehended by police a short distance away. He initially pled "not guilty by reason of insanity," but changed his plea one month later to "guilty."
