Unfortunately this version did not last long and this is the only episode I have.

The fact that this show only got 5-6 weeks before it was axed, is an indictment upon the television landscape of the time. Tim and Kelly had great chemistry together, and I hope that if and when Wheel of Fortune gets another chance to come back, they get the chance to audition again, because they deserved much more than what they were given.

I feel that "The Price is right" being axed in 2005 was the beginning of the end for Australian game shows. The original "Wheel of fortune" was cancelled 6 months later after being on air for 25 year run, and what followed after that was a string of game show flops with new game shows either lasting 5 minutes or being destroyed in the ratings war by being on at the same time as "Deal or no deal" (Sadly, Million dollar wheel fell into both categories). In saying that though, there were some problems with MDWoF, particularly them constantly tampering with the structure of the show, the colour schemes and parts of the set during the show's short run

Wheel is getting another chance to come back with Graham Norton. Filming will start this November.

A very rare occurrence in the history of the show - the Surprise being a car. I can only remember remember 2 other occasions where the Surprise was a car, and in fact, Denise may have been the only female contestant to win a car by getting the Surprise

In-fact Kia was the sponsor of the 'Million Dollar' Wheel of Fortune. That features the slogan (The Power to Surprise)

I can remember during the Rob Elliot era, the surprise was a car and unfortunately the man solving the puzzle said "First Time Man Walk On Moon" when it should have been "First Time Man Walks On Moon" and lost it.

@@ForTheLoveOfBroadcast Interesting, though how would we know what the prize would've been if was only revealed IF the person won the prize by winning it? As for the that misslove, there is an episode from the Steve Oemcke era floating around on here where something very similar happened - the puzzle was "Man first walks on the moon" and the contestant erroneously answerd with "Man first LANDS on the moon"

Kia Motors was the car sponsor for this format which is the sponsor for the Australian Open tennis.
The Rob Elliott era on 7 had Proton as the car sponsor

I love how this version of Wheel of Fortune came close to the original U.S. version of gameplay; whereas Wheel from other English-speaking countries constantly retained the shopping verion of the show which made it horrendously boring.

@@ForTheLoveOfBroadcast That's a shame, because my Grandmother was a champion for 2 shows (which I believe were the 6th and 7th November 1996) when Tony Barber and Adriana Xenides were the host and hostess. Unfortunately she passed away in April last year, and we also unfortunately threw out the VHS that we recorded her episodes on. I presumed it would be a long shot that anyone would have recorded her episodes, but you can't blame a guy for trying. All the best, and keep up all the great uploads.

I have heaps of tapes to still go through. So never say never. Although I can fairly safely say I've never seen any of the Tony Barber era of Wheel on my personal tapes.

I suspect the surprise car giveaway was just a first-episode publicity stunt. Tim is an attractive host, but he's trying a bit too hard; he needn't have been that exuberant. The fact that he was an already established actor made it feel too obvious that he was affecting a personality for the show.
