    Paper towel is a good idea for packing, but I have another one that I use that I would like to share. I often end up with boxes of old dish towels, oddball sheets, dresser scarves with flaws, etc. when I buy things at an auction in a lot. I wash these and keep them for packing. You can use them over. Larger blankets can be used to haul furniture.

    Wow! You always manage to say just what I need to hear! My husband and I opened a booth last Feb. and just opened a second booth in Oct. (My husband commented on this post a little while ago.)I have been overwhelmed with how stuff for the booth (including furniture pieces) have taken over my house. And yes, disrupting my sleep too. I appreciate your sage advice; thank you for hitting it on the nose (when you repeated some key phrases, “organize your stuff in three categories…”, it really stuck with me); excellent, excellent, advice! Thx so much.

    As I sit here starting on the next bundle of tags for holiday items, I listen carefully and think to myself what a wonderful day this could be if I had tagged all this when I bought it in the spring on clearance. I am sticking to my resolve to shop my house. Made that promise in June and except for a necessity I have stayed away from thrift stores. I even have a big bin in a closet where donations go. Clearing a death pile is the hardest job for me and probably other booth vendors.

    Something I do that helps with overwhelm, I buy seasonal all year and have bins for them until it’s ready to put them out organized by holiday or season. I price seasonal items with my other things BEFORE they go in those totes. And then when the time comes to take them in, it’s all done!

      Yes! Pricing when you buy them AND then storing is a great tip.

    Great show, once again. You give such practical advice. Thank you, thank you for sharing your experience. You are so encouraging to us. We started a booth in Feb and added another one in Oct. We are sort of of overwhelmed right now. You always help a lot. And you are entertaining!!!😁

    I have been using those fabric collapsible "boxes". I look for them at thrift stores and can always find some. I color code the box with each season. Example, orange for fall/Halloween. Red for Valentines / and red/green for christmas. Blue for blue items etc. Helpful to me and if I go in to take out seasonal items, I bring that color box in with me. They are lightweight enough to carry myself when full and easier way to not overload for each season. They fit nicely on a shelf or just in a room, its easy to quickly identify what will be inside!!

    I got into a bad habit of bringing boxes home from my booth and just dumping those in our garage. That lead to me having no clue what I had. I finally got organized last week, pulled everything out so I could see it, and grouped like items together. Thanks for sharing all your tips! I think most of us love the shopping part, so being able to see what we actually need versus what we just think is cool is really important for our budgets and our booths.

      I think we all go through the messy to organized phase...there is only SO much time...but you are right staying on top of it all is SO important.

    New booth owner here. Just started gathering stock and am already getting overwhelmed. Buying - great! Bringing it home - sure! Cleaning - totally! Pricing, packing and bringing to the booth... ehhhhhh... 😅 Storing out of season items... yeahhhhhh no its in a pile. I know part of the inertia is that I have a tiny booth (2'x4') that is already stocked and don't know if anything has sold.

      Understand Anna, been a boother many years, if you can get a main table in your area. Now focus on obtaining little objects to build up like vtg coolers, footstools, small chairs or tables. Now it gives you more space by stacking on the main table.

      Having a booth is so much more than people think it will be. Hopefully you will find systems that work for you and keep it manageable. Maybe you might consider a larger booth if one becomes as available. Best of luck to you!

    I would suggest to purchase a collapsing wagon to haul, walmart has them in sporting goods, mine was $79. You can write this off on taxes as equipment if applicable. I also use the square milk crates to place my items priced in and they fit nicely in the wagon.

    How do you go about obtaining estates and how do decide what to pay for a bulk amount of items?

    • @theturnedleg
      @theturnedleg  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      My last was from an estate sale. I walked in and loved it all. I asked if we could make a deal. I have also spread the word to family and friends...if the items in the home are right and vintage I might be interested. The antique mall where I have my booth gets approached a lot by people that are just trying to find homes for a loved ones stuff. The owner of the mall gets estates that way. Pretty much just ASK if you see cool stuff. You do need to know your prices for what you pay.

      @theturnedleg  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It is…but if you have a great opportunity for inventory like I did with an estate you might not want to pass it up.
