Aww! I'll never forget the female Praying Mantis my son found. And how after laying her Ootheca, we didn't realize until too late that they had hatched too soon! How we found out, was waking up to HUNDREDS, maybe THOUSANDS of the babies everywhere in the house! My Himalayan, Perseus, and ferrets, Codo and Podo didn't even know what to do! I could tell by the way they'd act and look at eachother, they were confused. Perseus wanted to play with them. We had one heck of a time getting them outside as fast as possible. Congratulations on your gold button!
I had a similar thing happen with baby snails. They move really fast when you are not watching them! Up and out of the aquarium they went...

Man, you have glued Kiwi's eggs upside down !!! Pointy side should be upward so the rain slides down, not going into the nest and destroying the eggs. 😉Same when Kiwi was laying her eggs : she naturally built her nest against a wall with her abdomen upwards, so the nest is turned downward. Changing this position is not a good idea. But you were lucky enough that the babies grew indoors. Amazing experience !! So glad you shared, thank you !

kiwi was so happy living with you, i bet she was excited to think about how you would take care of her children when she was gone. i know hundreds of mantises can hatch from one egg, but i like to think she left you as many babies as she could, hoping they'd get to know & love you like she did 💜 welcome little kiwis!!!

OMG, they're soo cute! I thought they wouldn't hatch, but when I saw a tiny mantis crawl out of the egg, I literally picked up my computer to look closer. SO CUTE!!!

When I was about four I brought a mantis egg sack home and left it on the table.. around 100 of them hatched and were all around the room! I was gone at the time so my poor mom had to deal with them and put them outside.
