This is such a beautiful song and orchestration. I actually think "Stars" is the very finest song in LES MISERABLES, a show filled with fine songs. By the way, I'm pretty sure the lyric goes "FALLEN from grace," not "FALLING" from grace."
Actually the original lyrics are "fallen from grace, fallen from grace." in the original London Musical the Broadway version changed it to "fallen from god" for some reason.
People, the vocal register doesn't matter, the KEY matters. I'm a baritone and am able to comfortably sing a Soprano aria if it's in the proper key. Tip: when looking for an audition piece, get a song transposed to a key you're comfortable with.
Lol! I'm a bass, so I can do a good chunk of the song but the D's and E's are where I approach my break. The D's aren't usually a problem for me but the E is often impossible.
For me the challenge of this song is the last note. I'm a tenor, so I can belt Gs and As no problem, but belting that D is a huge challenge for me, it's right in the middle of my break. I'll leave this song to the baritones :)
In the Original London Cast, it was fallen from grace, fallen from grace. I''ve heard other sing fallen from God, fallen from God, and fallen from God, fallen from grace. So I think they all work!
you can sing this .. i am a soprano and my teacher had me sing it. it was not as pretty as his because i am so used to listen to it from his voice, but it was not awful either.
Could someone please tell me where I can buy this exact accompany track? I tried iTunes but there are all slightly different from this one. Many many many many many thanks!
Is that allowed? I've heard that there is some copyright issue that prevents gender-switching, and I thought my dream of ever playing Javert was crushed.
Arg! Why does every karaoke version go with the annoying "Lord let me find him" version instead of the much more pleasant "keeping watch in the night" version?!
There's multiple verses. They are both valid lyrics... keeping watch in the night is part of the verse about just stars, Lord let me find him is the ending\

Thank you SO much for making this. I'm doing this in my school play, and thus truly is invaluable for learning it.
You, sir, are AWESOME.
I'm so glad I'm a soprano because I can sing this really well an octave higher!
I'm OBSESSED with Les Miserables
so am I
I've done a high school production of it when I was 16
Absoultely adore this song. The few songs out there singable for baritones
Oh thank you this helps so much. I'm playing Javert tomorrow night even though I'm a woman... We are seriously lacking in male talent...
I love this version.... I sing this song one million times...
I am a soprano and still able to sing this with the exception of a few notes. Best solo ballad in Broadway history,
you can it even if you're a girl !
everybody can sing this
if you have a special voice, transpose it !!!
I used this instrumental to sing this song at my school talent show.
I didn't even place but I got a huge reaction for it.

I'm an alto. I've sang this song and I've sang I Dreamed A Dream. Both are pretty comfortable for me.

Lovely karaoke of this...I think it's my favorite among those I've found so far^_^
well, i wish i was a high tenor!
this song is great for us basses, but there isn't as much choice as you tenors!! ;P

THANK YOU FOR THIs
This is so scary...this is my favorite song from "Les Miserables" after "On My Own", but I never thought I could actually sing it!
lol i love how the picture of the acc is phantom xD

Awesome to be a bass :)
This is the best version I've found so far! How do you get it. I know you said iTunes, but how do you look it up?
I love this song! I can't sing it that well because I'm a soprano but I tried!
I don't know man, nothing happened when we did it. Then again, it was just a lowly backwoods theater production that was performed once.
So many soprano's singing this. Where the tenors at?
My dream is to play javert!!!
Me too!!
@spamforbobby Well, I wouldn't be so harsh, but yea, I agree, it does mess up the ending for me too, since I like holding that last note forever :)
Does anyone else sign the cross after "Pay the price"?
this was a great backing track till 2.50
I've seen it sung both ways
@lenaya221422 yeah it sounds a lot like the original orchestration
I think it varies. I have sheet music for this song that says the same thing as the video. I prefer your way, though.
In this same register.
the actual lyrics are " fallen from god, fallen from grace" just thought i'd let u know :)
The original London recording says grace twice...just realized this is 7 years old. Well hopefully it clears confusion for other commenters!
And now all I need to do is figure out how to bump everything up an octave so I can sing it without destroying my voice :P
@CallMePercilla hahaa agreed !Xx
Can you give more detail as to which track, artist made this so we can find it on iTunes easier? Please.
Can I use this instrumental in the background for my own video? :-3
Would you mind if I use this to sing with on a video for a friend?
This is higher higher right compared to russell's version in the movie right?
anyone know where to find that key for karaoke version? :)
Could someone please tell me where I can buy this exact accompany track? I tried iTunes but there are all slightly different from this one. Many many many many many thanks!
cold you but the link up to buy this backing track i cant find it
I'm a soprano too... I just sing this one octave higher :P
around allegro moderato i think so yes 90-120 (i think lol)
Is that allowed? I've heard that there is some copyright issue that prevents gender-switching, and I thought my dream of ever playing Javert was crushed.
that's impossible, it only has 119,018 views
i am a bass but this song is not that hard to sing its in my range
Is this the original key?
What key is this in?
i can help you guys with javert. haha

Wrong lyrics.
Just cuz its sped up for a part and the note is shortened, that automatically makes the whole piece horrible?...Maybe ur just being overcritical.
Get the WORDS RIGHT! "FALLEN from GOD" (Plinky plunky 80's keyboard CRAP!)
pessima base
