Love the competitive depth OU has established.
*Wideouts go probably 9 deep, that can play (situationally)at a high level (I included Zion Kearney)
*QB is much deeper with C Thompson, much more developed M Hawkins as backup’s to JA
    * RB room is very stocked, with a healthy Barnes, Hicks, Franklin, E Megwa, plus stellar Freshmen in Taylor and X Robinson (welcome in a grueling SEC slate)
*Coach B will have OL right, I see them 11-12 deep right now.
*TE room is going to surprise the aforementioned sharp and Roberts will shine, but K Helms and D Mitchell will will take that group to a new level (think Keith Jackson/J Gresham)
*Interior DL will be much improved, with depth (Freshmen will make some noise)
*my biggest question mark is edge, have we developed enough, added enough to finally not just excel at TFL, but actual sacks, strip sacks, pass deflections, hurries. The jury is out on this position group, my gut says they’ll deliver due to increased want and added interior pressure that will force play to the edge. I look for a young player to vastly exceed expectations and wreak havoc in the backfield
*LB play will be much improved, J Kanak will get pushed hard by players who’ve played that position their whole careers. Lewis, Carter, McKenzie, Omosigho learning under BV, new DC, and super Senior Stutsman will be ready to contribute much more.
*DB’s are 8-9 deep, as well, with plenty of developmental players coming along. Senior leadership, ball skills, length, and physicality will hold up well against SEC competition
    * Finally, ST depth is there, as well with kicker competition, PAT holders and long snappers.
In summary, when you look at this roster, it’s easy to spot the odd players out now (God bless them) but time will tell if they see the field, become great scout team looks, or get recruited over and hit the portal.
Thanks for the great content and commitment to highlighting OU football ✌🏾

Rarely a team plays 6 WRs on a regular basis. Just curious about ou's top 6 WRs (2 deep) who and what they did last year. Just to compare.

Sexton is a legit OT and despite nagging injuries has out performed the higher touted Taylor and even started the last 4-5 games of the season over Guyton at RT. Dude was even a stud his tFR yr against FSU in the bowl game, lined up against DE Jared Verse. Sexton is THAT DUDE and can hold down JAs blindspot without fail.
The first 5 to roll out wont necessarily be the same 5 all season. Last yr tFR OG Green worked into the starting 5 in 4 games. The best 5 play no matter what. So, EPL or Brooks could easily be starters by midyear. You just never know. BV did say we are 8-9 deep on the OL with starter quality dudes, and that's about where you hope to be depth wise.
A lot of quality pieces to move around on the OL. Im more than happy with the state of that room than most though...

I totally afree with you on the OL. A lot of guys who can play different spots. I think the goal of fall camp is just figuring out what the best 5 looks like. Very well could be Sexton at LT.

Another great analysis of my Boomer Sooners! Here are some interesting unit rankings
by Phil Steele, whom I believe does the greatest research in all of college football. These
    are national rankings!
    Oklahoma receivers #6
    Oklahoma D line #21
    Oklahoma LBs #2
    Oklahoma Secondary #2
If, as projected, the OU D will keep the Sooners in a lot of games this year in da SEC!
While the O line, and Arnold mature!

    Inadvertently left off Cheetahs
*Deep there as well, Dolby, McCollough. It’ll be interesting to see who else excels at that role, which we all know is pivotal in a BV defense: Bowen, RSJ, J Johnson, young Boganowski, Powers, Heim.
2024 will be fun, nerve wracking, but fun, as we build this superpower squad.
    BOOMER!

Love the McCollough shout out. Such a unique athlete. Feel like they were figuring out how to use him (along with being banged up last year). I think he breaks out in a big way in some capacity this year. He can do so many different things, just gotta figure out where he fits in best.

Look for Jaden Gibson to get a bigger role this year. Had like 13 catches last year for 5TDs but from everything ive heard Farooq will miss some time in fall camp cuz of a foot issue and Andrell wont be back til the 2nd or 3rd week so Gibson will get a chance to show off and so will some other younger guys.

Gibson is exciting. A lot of really good players in that WR room I am excited to see what the rotation looks like. I think we will find out more in fall camp.

I also see Hicks as the number 2 RB, and watch out for Tatum.👍

Don't forget about Andrell Anthony. He got hurt the Texas game. last year. The receiver room is loaded. We're depending on that OLine to be better than expected. If it is, watch out SEC Cause Oklahoma has the pieces in place to make a lot of noise our first year in the SEC

    • @Pierre-wm3xs
      @Pierre-wm3xs 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Jaydon Gibson is long good speed and bigger. 6"5". And will give Dbs trouble. OU really didn't have a tight end that was a threat last year. That's will not be the case this year All I have to say is Brent Venebals and staff are cooking with grease in Norman. They're going to shut up all these negative talking heads 😂

Kicker is really only thing I'm worried about honestly. Cause there will almost undoubtedly be games where might need that kicker. Especially on the road

I think you are sleeping on Andrel, if he is right he will be WR1

    • @rocboysfootball
      @rocboysfootball  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Less sleeping on Andrel, more just love Deion Burks. I think that kid has so much juice.
Really big fan of Andrel (as a Michigan fan myself). Such a polished WR and knows how to separate. If he is healthy no doubt will be a huge factor in this offense.
Burks, Anderson and Anthony a nasty WR trio.
