A favorite expression of mine is " You have to break a few eggs to make an omelette." I have to remind myself of that often when I have halted progress to save something that I need to just cut up. Your videos help keep me motivated each time I watch one. So don't feel like that puts pressure on like some people do, just take it in stride as the compliment it is meant to be and keep doing what you do so well. Matthias, congratulations to the design and the excution of this band saw, I can not wait to move to a house with space to start some machine projects that I will copy from you, the only thing that is harder is not to understand English, because You must give dicar essential for better implementation of the project, a friend hug.
Applying the 80/20 Paretto rule would make this much more affordable: create a set of metal parts that would make the core of the machine and would greatly simplify the construction, make that a kit and ship it with the plans for a reasonable price. Thus Wandel Wooden Tools Inc. is born! Great content thank you Matthias!

I love the band saw build vids, cant wait to see finished article. For the trunnions you would never look back if you built a good trammel jig for the router. Takes all the inconsistency, guess work and sanding time and away.
I dreamt I met Matthias once. He was really wise and showed me all of the heritage in the area. Also I stayed in one of his wooden cabins in the dream. Damn

Matthias is so good. Only thing is it makes me feel glum that I will never be as good. Still, this is offset by the fun of watching an engineer/ craftsman at work. If he a Jeremy fielding got together they could build anything! Out of a windscreen wiper motor and a broken treadmill.

Random thought, If you plan on removing and putting back the "trunnion beam" and you do not want to adjust the location every time you put it back, you could put it in place once and then add a couple of wood dowels as a locating pins :D Nice work on the machine, Do enjoy your videos!
Have you ever gotten hurt doing stuff like this? I've watched nearly every video and you're just so good, even when you do things that I'd expect would end terribly (like grabbing small bits of wood near the bandsaw blade while it's on) you're completely fine. I assumed someone that's worked with wood basically their whole lives would have SOME battle scars.
I use that coupler nut trick all the time and it works very well, mostly for removable heavy table tops and heavy leveling feet. T-Nuts just don't have any strength and the thread count is so small they strip out under any amount of torque. They're almost a joke.
When you built your 1st wooden bandsaw.. I showed it to my dad... He advised against building one because it might fall apart and fail.... After watching this 3rd one built... I dont agree with his thought any more... But I dont think I am as precise as Matthias.... So my metal one was't a complete waste of money... Excellent job bud... People only get responses from you when they leave ignorant comments... So here goes nothing.. THIS SAW BLOWS........ the doors off a metal one.. (I tried) Brian
When tapping into wood, a good idea is to tap the hole and drop some ca glue on the threads then tap the hole again. It makes the threads stronger, maybe you can test this on your joint testing jig
Zapper playstation controllers are much more complicated then bandsaws, and they explode when you try to pull them appart springs and buttons everywhere :)
Hi Matthias I watch a guy making some chairs on his factory made band saw, He also can turn it into a belt Sander. I hope you might do the same thing with your home made band saw love watching you videos
I learned to glue before dowel to avoid gaps while laminating a table using 1 inch strips. It would be nice to receive a nice sheet of Baltic Birch instead of ties and cologne for Christmas. I think the elves may use it for their toys though...
You should make a drill guide with steel shaft and some type of bushings I think they should be around 1” to 1/12” in length because if you make them too short there’s too much friction and it binds. You probably won’t make a video on it so I’m going to give it a try
Personally I would have used 18mm OSB for a lot of this build. It’s well priced, uber strong and dimensionally stable. Use birch ply and maple floor planks for the fine details. The stability of OSB would also be good for the band wheels. The edges probably need to be resin sealed. Hey an epoxy “tyre” moulded around OSB core would be cool.
You could do with some long series drills that could go through both items to a deep depth. Then open to correct size with normal drills. Epoxy would be ideal for retaining those big roughened nuts.
Whenever I hear professionals talking about "very expensive" I am wondering if they have a similar idea of "expensive" as I have. How much does baltic birch plywood cost there ? (What thickness and quality?)

Years ago, I laid a floor with unfinished middle grade maple planks. Along with a sheet of Baltic ply the maple would make a stunning band saw.
