Great video. I was looking at the hopper and it is supposed to be a four bay hopper. I like all your videos as it is nice to see the postwar trains run.
The only car in question is the 6561 Cable car with orange reels. The Doyle's reference shows it in the photo of the set, but does not actually list it in the verbiage. So they may have an error on this set.
@@alsvintagetoytrains7042 still nice Al! just gets a little too goofy for me when you see these players running a postwar engine with kline, mth, williams cars from 3 different eras behind it. im like wtf are these guys doing? hahaha
@@alsvintagetoytrains7042 When I was piecing this set together, I sometimes would see a couple auction listings with a 6462-100 Red NYC gondola included. But most of them show it as the 5 piece set without the cable car. I also should note that the hopper shown here is incorrect. The set comes with the larger quad-bay hopper.
@@metalheadrailfan All good valid points! I did put the incorrect hopper car in the set and should have had the correct quad hopper. It is very possible the Doyle's reference incorrectly showed the cable reel car which is not in their description. The 1955 catalog does not specifically list out which cars went with either the 2338 set or the 682 set. Thanks for the feedback!
@alsvintagetoytrains7042 No problem. Yeah, looking at different listings online would throw me for a loop if I had gotten it correctly put together or not. But again, most what I see has the Quad Hopper, Truck Car, Crane and work caboose.
Great video. My grandpa had a set just like this, he gave me some of the cars from the set and some other pieces he had to go with his set like a crossing gate, milk car, and platform. However he never found the engine and the rest of the cars, so I decided a while back to track down all of the pieces that he didn't find to complete the set. Thanks for making the video it will be a big help for tracking down the right pieces
I have this set from the original owner and the below comment about the hopper is correct, this should be the 6436-25 Lehigh Valley 4 bay hopper and the 6561 depressed center flat car with reels did NOT come with this set. This is also verified by Greensberg's guide to Lionel Trains 1945-1969 Cataloged sets, Thanks for sharing! You have some great sets.

Unfortunately Lionel's 1955 catalog did not indicate which cars came with the 2338 engine. I appreciate the feedback! I will most likely pull this video in the near future and report a corrected version.
I@@alsvintagetoytrains7042 I have seen copies of the 55 catalog and you ae correct it doesn't show which cars come in the sets on that page and the depressed flat is shown at the top of the page with the other cars so I can see where the confusion came from.
Your Milwaukee GP7 is in incredible condition. Wish mine looked like that. I’ve always like the 2338. Your trains all look superb. Thanks for your super good videos.

I have the loco and work caboose. Crane car was missing wheels but I need to find that depressed center flat.
Nice running and looking set. A bit noisier than other diesels.
Yes, the old buzzing E-unit seems to be the culprit.
