The great problem with this video is that the man is speaking a language that no one understands. People are hearing him speak but the language is of a global scale paradigm shift wherein hardware will learn from the lessons of open source software ecosystem. However no one hears that. Perhaps they don't know how to listen. Regardless I am happy that SiFive is doing great work and the RISC-V will be *everywhere* in a few years. That means these people in the audience will finally catch on in five years. Five years too late.
It actually looks like he's talking to people at Samsung ? They should at least understand one side of each equation, right and possibly have some affinity with both ? Because he's talking about open source software/hardware and running a business. And software and hardware. So they should at least understand half the story. :-) But you are right, he's talking about something most people have no idea about. Yet. A small revolution that could and seems likely to grow into a big one.
That you understand something doesn't mean that the others don't. I think at least quite amount of audiences there probably understand what he was saying. It's just that whether it will be shifting paridigm in the future or not, they are employers in the field and still going to deal with arm and cisc based x86 stuffs tomorrow morning anyways.
has the Risk-V team considered John L. Gustafson's new (2017) Posits- and Unum-Numberformat, University Singapore? TH-cam: Beating Floats at their Own Game Better arithmetic, less overhead, less exceptions, NaNs...
I am inspired by hardware..but there lack of oppot. in india...and also home grow shakti is at very early stage...I hope they come visit AIT pune for student😞
RUSC-5 is no more than the corporate deep states fake news properganda to spoon feed the general population, keeping the masses hooked up to the matrix. Companies like Huawei and ecconomies like China are currently the only bussiness environments which allow for true open source innovation, unlike Americas corporate controled of innovation (monopoly). No private invention or innovation will ever come to lite without the explicit consent or involvement of Government or major Corporations. My advice to any private individual who has stumbled on to Tesla like innovations while working inside of their garages. Stay off of the grid, under the radar, and only go public after you have ensured your security and safety from Corporate Deep State.

All makes sense to me. And I'm not in the chip industry. Hardly in the open source software world either.

IITM & C-DAC are building a whole family of Computing systems in India.
