Dogs is the main reason that Animals is my favorite Floyd album. Pigs and Sheep would be 2 more reasons. Anyone else out there old enough to have heard this album on 8 track with the Snowy White solos during Pigs On the Wing 1 & 2?
Agreed… wore thru 3 different 8-tracks of “Animals”. Snowy White shines on that solo. Too bad most folks are unfamiliar with that track as one piece, not the split version from the album. ;-)
When I was 20, this resonated with me mostly sonically. As a 61 year old now, this epic has both helped AND hurt me by it's lyrics giving me a reluctant understanding of my pending mortality.

I had not listened to this song in probably 30 years! What struck me is how much the intro portion of the song sounds like The Gunner’s Dream off the Final Cut album, which happens to be one of my favorite Pink Floyd tunes. If you have any friends or family members in the military, this one will hit home.
Yay! I got to see the Portland stop on the original Animals tour. Sublime, my second favorite concert (after seeing The Who with Keith). Souring double guitar tracks. What’s not to love? Thanks lads!
I was there too at the Portland Memorial Coliseum. They played Animals then Wish You Were Here, and as an encode played Money. Without a doubt the best rock concert I ever attended. The sound quality was fantastic and it wasn't extremely loud...perfect actually!
Best song of the album = "Sheep" with the line "Get out of the road if you want to grow old" followed by an outro that rivals that of Hotel California.
You really don't have to have read "Animal Farm" to listen to this album, to be honest. The only concepts from that book are the three archetypes of Dogs, Pigs and Sheep. Roger frames those ideas in his own way.
Back in the early 80's, this song was a godsend for my 4am radio show when I was the only person in the station and needed to use the bathroom. 😆 It had the perfect sound for the wee hours of the morning, and the perfect length of time to let me go wee.
"Dogs": my favorite song on my favorite Pink Floyd album (Animals) ... I am quite fortunate to have heard this song performed at a Roger Waters concert in 2000.

Nice that you did "Pigs On the Wing" as the intro.. "Dogs" is the first chapter in this conceptual masterpiece. You must continue with " Pigs(Three Different Ones)", and then "Sheep ", closing with "Pigs On the Wing, Pt. 2" to complete the experience.. Thanks, guys..
Remember back in the day you would listen to this with massive speakers. You sitting in the correct space!! First group to fill the entire space, every inch of air filled with music all around you . Headphones especially good ones do the same thing.
This is the Floyd's last great album. The last real group effort before the band turned into the Roger Waters Experience. It's also probably either their best or their second best.
Been so long since hearing this one. Really enjoyed. Saw them perform this twice outdoors at Soldier Field and Milwaukee County Stadium. This brought back the memories this incredible sound in the night air and of course large baloon animals across the sky.
I was listening to Animals this morning and thought about your Shine On... reaction and thought I would love to see Alex’s reaction to Dogs. Imagine my surprise when I opened TH-cam to see today’s reaction. Can’t wait to watch it.
The songs "Raving and Drooling" and "You've Got to Be Crazy," two songs previously performed live and considered for the Wish You Were Here album, were reworked and appeared as "Sheep" and "Dogs," respectively, on the Animals album. Long ago, my friend let me borrow a bootleg CD of a Pink Floyd concert where they performed the original, non-reworked songs.
Floyd takes me to another level, perfect for night time winding down. The vocals have always been beyond, smooth and edgy at the same time. Absolutely love this one, thanks guys!
I know it's very hard to say considering how iconic the masterpieces of 'Dark side of the Moon', "Wish you were here" and "The Wall" are..... but I think my favorite Floyd album is Animals (just by a slim margin....). You guys gotta definitley gotta hit "Pigs (three different ones)" and "Sheep"....
I love how the tension builds and then releases several times through the song. They build up the minor key passages and then release with a major key. It's an emotional rollercoaster.
Alex’s FIRST TIME ever hearing DOGS!! Shall we continue on with the next track in the album? 🔥
OF COURSE!
Sheep should be next! But, you really should do UFO Lights Out!

Animals is my favorite Pink Floyd album. I always seem to have to listen to this whole album not just one track.
*Mr. Carlson:* _"Do I hear _*_dogs_*_ barking on that thing?"_
*Johnny Fever:* _"I do."_
This memory made me smile! Thanks!
I hear ya. Once you become the senior generation so many things that once brought pleasure now bring bittersweet musings on one's own limited time.
truth. but it could serve as a warning and a chance to avoid becoming that sad old man
haven’t listened to this in quite some time, realizing simultaneously that these guys truly were masters in the recording studio…lots of talk on this channel re Steely Dan’s recording expertise (with which I agree), but PF is equally as adept at creating studio perfection…still amazing stuff after all these years
It has been years (like, over 20) since I listened to this (please don't kill me) but I found I could sing along with it word for word and note for note. Need to get back into Animals.
Wow this is going to be so sweet I love this journey and everybody's going to tell you you have to do the whole album but I don't care it's going to be great
This is S Tier all day for me. My favorite Gilmour guitar work btw and I can relate to the lyrics on a real level. I don't think of it as being so dark, it's just part the real world out there. It actually lifts me up because it's a confirmation of things I know and others do too. Thanks for doing this, Gents. Cheers!
Animals is my favorite PF album. It is beautiful musically and lyrically
I can't believe you haven't done Dogs yet! Be right back, I have to... prepare for this experience
👍🏼🤣
I had not listened to this song in probably 30 years! What struck me is how much the intro portion of the song sounds like The Gunner’s Dream off the Final Cut album, which happens to be one of my favorite Pink Floyd tunes. If you have any friends or family members in the military, this one will hit home.
The Final Cut is extremely underrated, IMO.
the whole final cut album is underrated
Animals and Meddle are my favorite PF albums. The lyrics on Animals are so good!
Pretty much the same with me.
After 45 years of listening to them, same.
Yeah, that’s probably me as well. I tend to waffle a bit, depending on mood, age, what I’m listening to at the time etc.
Me too
The guitar solos in this piece are simply unreal.
Yay! I got to see the Portland stop on the original Animals tour. Sublime, my second favorite concert (after seeing The Who with Keith). Souring double guitar tracks. What’s not to love? Thanks lads!
I saw the Chicago stop at Soldier Field. One of the highlights of my life.
I caught the Tampa show at the big sombrero. Giant inflatable pigs floating over the crowd. Quite the show.
I was there too at the Portland Memorial Coliseum. They played Animals then Wish You Were Here, and as an encode played Money. Without a doubt the best rock concert I ever attended. The sound quality was fantastic and it wasn't extremely loud...perfect actually!
Animals is easily my favorite Pink Floyd album.
Best song of the album = "Sheep" with the line "Get out of the road if you want to grow old" followed by an outro that rivals that of Hotel California.
wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream
I got to see this albums tour in 76 or 77 in Cleveland Oh.
One of the best songs ever
SQUEEEEE! It's time for another Andy & Alex reaction! 😺
You really don't have to have read "Animal Farm" to listen to this album, to be honest. The only concepts from that book are the three archetypes of Dogs, Pigs and Sheep. Roger frames those ideas in his own way.
Agreed. I bought this CD in high school not knowing in a few months we would be reading Orwell's book. Because of Pink Floyd I was thoroughly engaged.
Dogs were the law enforcement/military - Pigs were the rich/politians - Sheep were citizens.
Back in the early 80's, this song was a godsend for my 4am radio show when I was the only person in the station and needed to use the bathroom. 😆 It had the perfect sound for the wee hours of the morning, and the perfect length of time to let me go wee.
Where would they be without Nick! This song was the first time I used headphones. I was blown away. I believe it was in 1975.
"Dogs": my favorite song on my favorite Pink Floyd album (Animals) ... I am quite fortunate to have heard this song performed at a Roger Waters concert in 2000.
Saw it in 2000 at Jones beach NY. Great show and they covered “dogs” quite well.
Brit Floyd do this well.
The harmony guitar figure is the most epic in all rock guitar recorded history. Fucking mic drop ...peace out.
This album MUST be listened to in it's entirety!!!
Forever think of Johnny Fever on WKRP when I hear this. "Do I hear dogs?" "I do."
I will argue that this is THE best guitar song Pink Floyd ever produced!
100% agree.
Animals is my favorite PF album, it's impeccable in my opinion.
Was hoping your next long song was going to be "Supper's Ready". No worries, but please play it soon! Cheers and Happy Monday!
Yes! They gotta start diving into more genesis.
It’s a must album , more relevant today than ever
Floyd is an S tier BAND. Period.
🤗 Saw this and..... 😏 officially late to my workout. 🥰 Let's Go! 😁🐰
Mood Music Monday! Gorgeous to vibe out to. I'll admit, I haven't listened to this in a long while. However, gotta admit it's chicken soup for the soul. Comforting! Great start to week. Have a wonderful day fellas! 💞✌️🤗☃️👋
"Chicken soup for the soul". Ha! Writing it down. 📝
@@flubblert There ya go! haha 😉 Have a great day flubbert 😊🙌

Great summer to be 18 years old.
Wish you were there !
Andy should have thrown a fit over Alex’s A rating. Nothing less than S+ for Dogs is acceptable. :)
These boys were on a different level.
So they should just listen to the album in its entirety
This one burns in more with every listen, it’s a masterpiece.
Have been listening to Floyd since the 60s with Syd. This is my favourite album - Waters' lyrics are deliciously viscious.
Veiled reference to the Sex Pistols?!?
Now enjoy while "lighting up" with four or five other dudes. That was our pre-flight to the bars on a Friday night in 1978. Lol.
David Gilmour’s first solo album is in my top three. Don’t miss out on this incredible experience.
To me Dark Side of the Moon is the quintessence of their work, but Animals is definitively my second favorite and their second most epic IMO.
The Wall was their last great album with Waters, but The Division Bell is the group's last great album overall
Just had a good nap listening to this snoozer. Thanks, I was tired.
You gotta be crazy. Had this on 8 track in 78. It never ended POTW pt 2 right into POTW pt1 and start it all over.
Had that sweet Snowy White solo to bridge the two halves of Pings on the Wing. Think it’s floating out there on YT somewhere.
Best song on their best album IMHO. Immaculate guitar work including the 'barking' - too good
What Pink Floyd did between Dark Side Of The Moon and The Wall is truly mind blowing.
Been so long since hearing this one. Really enjoyed. Saw them perform this twice outdoors at Soldier Field and Milwaukee County Stadium. This brought back the memories this incredible sound in the night air and of course large baloon animals across the sky.
"Dogs" was used in a scene from the sitcom "WKRP in Cincinnati" th-cam.com/video/UPABesa7wcE/w-d-xo.html
I was listening to Animals this morning and thought about your Shine On... reaction and thought I would love to see Alex’s reaction to Dogs. Imagine my surprise when I opened TH-cam to see today’s reaction. Can’t wait to watch it.
Probably the Floyd’s most underrated album. One of my favorites! Thanks guys!
Not really underrated. It's part of Floyd's big 4 along with Dark Side, WYWH, and The Wall. To me Obscured by Clouds is vastly underrated
My favorite Floyd album. Some of Gilmour's best guitar work on this song.
Floyd takes me to another level, perfect for night time winding down. The vocals have always been beyond, smooth and edgy at the same time. Absolutely love this one, thanks guys!
Starless from King Crimson is a must listen! Absolutely brilliant.
King Crimson block all videos using their music on You Tube. A real pity as some of their music is S Tier.
@@ianross5970 then they could do it on Patreon.
My favorite all time Pink Floyd album. Most emotional guitar solos out of all their albums. So glad you reacted to this song! Now the album!
Love Pink Floyd but I never got into Dogs But yes continue on!!!
Can't get into it? Means it hasn't gotten into you.
@@azimuthenigma6621 Could be true LOL!!
It is a masterpiece. Is one masterpiece greater than another. I think they all speak to us on different levels.
One of the fastest clicks ever. I don't know if Animals is my what I'd consider PF's best album, but it's certainly my favorite. Enjoy!
This is actually my favorite Pink Floyd album - and my favorite song .... its so fun to play on guitar
