Jackie has such patient and sweet insistence, waiting until Shadow "chooses" his time to get up. Interesting how the nest has changed since Jackie first laid the eggs. It was all sticks. Now there's a nice, soft, built up core of the nest ready to welcome and embrace the eaglets surrounded by a fortress of guardrails to keep them safe. The eagles are magnificent architects and builders! This incubation season looks like it's going really well so far. Best of luck to J&S for a healthy clutch! ❤❤🦅🦅🥚🥚🥚❤❤❤

It is delightful to watch these two when it is time to change places. When Shadow is on the nest and not wanting to leave, he does his best to be deaf to Jackie's pleas. And she is gentle and patient with him, approaching with suck care and speaking so sweetly, nudging him if he doesn't move immediately. It's only when he pushes her patience that she gets a little more forceful with him. When Jackie is on the nest and Shadow arrives, he either brings her a fish or uses a tricky stick. If she simply refuses to leave, he gives up. We definitely know who rules the nest in this family. Thanks for an enjoyable visit to the nest, Cali.

Shadow is wanting not to leave the nest more and more. Jackie was super patient with him today. Reminds me of a mom and her son when she’s trying to get him out of bed to get ready for school. She ends up tidying up his room until he gets up. 😂 Love these 2

They are so beautiful. I love all the colors of their feathers. It's so awesome how careful they are with eggs. 1 false move and the eggs could break, but not with this couple. These birds are huge and probably weigh a lot. 😮😮😮😮😮😮❤❤❤❤
Shadow was ANYTHING but deaf. If you actually listen, you can hear quite a bit of air traffic above - Jackie even watches one plane pass. Shadow waited until “the skies were clear” before leaving the eggs. He arose quite quickly once Jackie gave him the green light beak nudge.

I hope it's not true, but I read that three eggs are not very common for eagles, and when they have three, one usually doesn't survive. I hope that's wrong, but I'm preparing myself just in case. The article also said that the biggest eaglet will sometimes kill the smallest one, especially if there are three of them. 😢

I wonder why eagles just don't make a double nest and then they could both sit in it. That's what humans would do. 😅. I guess they always need one to be on the lookout, so the single nest makes sense, but a double nest would be so much more comfortable!

Dead black wings/body--most likely a Raven.Also it was using the full down flap of it's wings to propel itself. Eagles use more of a truncated up/down motion.
