I thought while watching that she should have been Ms. Olive Oil...hhhaha Loved watching this movie, it's like two kids always getting in trouble lolz ...and he still having trouble asking for her hand in marriage🤣🤣🤣🤣 Seems like a long time they been friends...Wwwoooooooowwww I can sincerely see someone actually doing this... Thanks for sharing 🌻🌻🌻
@@joebloe6928 I saw Zasu Pitts in the Popeye credits and asked him about her and her name! He said Zazu, but her son Don Gallery later told me it was ZaySue. He told me she was the voice of Olive Oyl, and never mentioned Mae. This leads me to believe Zasu was the first voice followed by Mae? I do know that Mae voiced her for a long time but I also know I saw Zasu in credits and spoke to Don. Don lived a few houses down from the former Villa of Elizabeth Taylor in Puerto Vallarta on Calle Zaragoza! I stayed there and helped my friend Toy the new owner and later Don gave tours as well on Wednesdays! He was the by birth son of Barbra LaMar who died and was adopted by Zasu. He had amazing stories about growing up in old Hollywood!
The Lum n Abner radio shows were pretty funny and not quite as corny as this. I enjoy watching because it's interesting to see what folks in wartime were paying to watch at the theaters back then. Thumbs up.
These guys are hilarious , I love these old comedies They dont make em like this anymore.& Zazu Pitts is a wonderful actress. Like anything she plays in.
Simple family friendly gem of a community in a little town. The pace was slow but leaves you feeling restful and peaceful (nobody rushing to be anywhere else). Back then the phone would ring a certain number of times before you know someone was calling your place (as back then it was a shared line).
“You get it.” “You get it, I got it last time.” “It ain’t for me”. “Me neither.” “How do you know?” By that time it stopped ringing. Four of us sometimes 5 and nobody wanted to answer unless they were expecting a call.
That was great so funny how have i not seen this one before now is mind boggling what a great actress ZaSa Pitts was and what other great actresses and actors. Thanks for posting for us to enjoy
my grandmother would talk about lum and abner 50 years ago. i thought she was talking about al caps lil abner comics. such an awesome archival of lum and abner
Lum Edwards, who’s annoyed with his partner, abner Peabody in pine ridge’s jot-em -down general store, because abner has swapped their delivery car for a racehorse! Lum is to o timid to propose to Geraldine (zasu pitts) so he involves in a rescue 🛟 effort which nearly gets both of them killed- they try again and this time Geraldine is impressed! Lum writes a proposal note but abner , by mistake, delivers it to a widow who has been ready to remarry for years-that Leeds leds leads to a merry mishap until the sheriff appears with the widow’s long-lost and hiding 🙈 husband! Lum doesn’t propose at the end of the flick! Good and funny 😆! 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Just Google Chester Lauck. Lum and Abner Abroad 1956,1949 The Jack Benny Program (TV Movie), 1946 Partners in Time, 1944 Goin' to Town,1943 So This Is Washington, 1943 Two Weeks to Live,1942 The Bashful Bachelor, 1940 Dreaming Out Loud
Great movie, silly that it was painfully funny...but, I couldn't turn it off, kept watching because I was hoping that he would propose a that they get married, NOT, and he still gets inside the closet to get out...???lol he made me mad but I'm thinking it's best they don't get married...he'll end up living in the closet forever... Thanks for sharing this movie, I had a good belly laugh here and there...very sweet!!!🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗😜
Here's his 1st Lesson if he wants to be seen as a Hero. Don't be too Lazy to Answer the Phone or Rude to Customers! Stands as Square on his Feet as a Cook Stove? Lol This movie has some great one liners! 1:01:00...that's the ugliest darn Hat l ever done seen!
Shaking my head at what passed for comedy back in the 40s. Some comedy bits are kinda comical but nothing is laugh out loud funny. Too bad, I really wanted to like this movie
Well you saw it and that's all you have to say is you saw it and was not do you like him like most movies are not to a lot of liking of people and a lot of things as well

Zasu Pitts was my friends mom. Both long since dead. In addition to her comic roles in movies she was the voice of Olive Oyl in the Popeye cartoons.
Oh my now that u said that i can hear its olive oyl voice lol nice thanks
Mae Questel was the voice of Olive Oyl in the 1930's Popeye cartoons.

Mae Questel was actually the voice of Olive Oyl but she based the voice Olive on Pitts.

@@auletjohnast03638 you probably know already, they wanted to call him ricky rat, but thought it was kinda gross so went with Mickey Mouse.

I'm 63 and I just discovered these guys on here about a year ago. They are true old time, homespun hillbilly humor, lol.
My dad loved Lum and Abner movies. He would laugh until he would cry.
