This edit pulls me in every single time. It was so powerful in story telling and character showing. I always loved Wen Ning and Wen Qing. They literally did nothing wrong. Neither in the original nor in the show. They were just born in the wrong family, that's all their sin. They were just kind people who wanted to live.

In the novel the siblings do not appear until chapter 60.
In order to solidify Wei Wi Xian’s connection to the Wen Clan the screen writers created a more involved story for Wen Ning And his brilliant older sister Wen Qing .
The series depiction of the siblings however, is pretty much canon except for the dancing Fairy bit.
Wen Qing is beautiful, aloof, brilliant and considered high among Cultivators. Other clans admire her as she is refined and ethical as opposed to her distant relatives. Wen Ning is shy, nervous in crowds, stutters and is bullied by revolting cousins, however in both the series and novel he, at a very young age possesses archery skills superior to his cousins.
Like Wei Wuxian, Wen Qing is brilliant to the point that she invents medicinals and treatments that her elders tell her are impossible.
Some have speculated that Wen Qing might have harbored romantic feelings towards Wei WiXian, however as an eldest sister, I recognize a bossy younger sibling when I see one and I believe their relationship was like this.
The contrast between the proud, cool Maiden who helps her brother save the Jiang family and the desperate woman pleading with Wei Wuxian to save her brother and people is also Novel canon.
Wei Wuxian is totally intolerant of abuse, and When he sees Wen Qing in tears and WenNing’s battered body he becomes very much the Master of Demonic Cultivation.
Successfully transferring a Golden Core was Wen Qing’s impossible achievement; restoring the deceased Wen Ning to his previous sweet nature was Wei WuXian’s miracle.
Finally, in the novel and certainly expressed in the series, Wei Wuxian suddenly comprehends his brother’s impatience with his ‘hero complex’ after Wen Qing and Wen Ning accept responsibility for incidents that were not of their making.
Again watch the series or the Donghua to better understand what you see here.
Have tissues when you watch this again afterwards.

Wen Ning and Wen Qing are the best boy and best girl respectively... their story is so good, but also so sad...

Wen Ning has been and has stayed my favorite character throughout the entire drama. Everytime i see him on the screen, this song will come to my mind and i will start humming it «You're my honeybunch, sugarplum… ». That’s how much i liked the character and wanted him to be protected and happy
