Penn has you covered no matter your budget. Personally I fish the spinfisher 6 and squall 2 casting specials. The battallion surf rods are worth the extra money.
I use the penn battle 2 4000 also but because I travel to fish I pair it with okumo nomad express and I have the entire okumo nomad series (4 rods). Unfortunately they are only 7ft or 7,7. Cant remember. But I absolutely love those rods. I bring them all over from florida to the bahamas

Thanks man! I don’t very often. I will throw slot of diamond jigs when we have Spanish and bluefish around. I’d like to get into throwing more lures on the beach for specks, reds and flounder, just haven’t done much of that yet.

Brad, how do you feel about Gulf State Park installing parking meters in the previously free shell beach and cotton bayou parking areas in Orange Beach? It is supposed to be the same Pavilion pricing of $5 for 4 hours/$10 for all day. Dang it was okay back a couple years ago for $5 to park all day at the pavilion, but dang, I can pay $40 for a year pass and drive to Johnson Beach and park for free! We are just trying to fish!
I’m not very happy about it! I fish Shell Beach and Alabama Point a lot! I heard they’re going to do an annual pass for these lots, but I’m not positive on that.

My father bought me a battalion rod with a 4k size pursuit from penn and my first day using it I hooked into a 78lb blacktip

Sizing and usually drag etc.. . 2000 is quite small for Penn and you will have less line and maybe weaker drag compared to a 4000 size

Is there good fishing off of the Caribe dock, and if so what rigs and bait should I use there.
I’ve never fished them, but I’m sure there’s some specks and reds over there. I’d try live shrimp either on a Carolina rig, or popping cork
