Two years late but responding to your question if there was interest in leader material types and why. I looked through the Tuesday tackle video titles and didn’t see that topic addressed. Yes, would be VERY interested. Thanks for your consideration of that topic.

one of the best and more informative channels out there, cannot thank you enough. I'm actually getting all my surf fishing gear together and wanted to ask you a couple questions if you don't mind. I'm thinking of gearing up my spinning reels with 20-30 lb braid, around 300 yards per spool. Do you recommend more? Like do you ever use 40 lb braid or need more than 300 yards of line?

I need help choosing line for old reels.. specced as follows Penn 78 0.55mm 140m/15yd 30lb -Penn 85 0.55mm 180m/165yd 30lb Penn 500 0.55mm 250m/275yd 30lb / 0.45mm 320m350yd 20lb. THese old specs refer to the older standards in fishing lines... could you suggest a line setup for say the 500 or 85 (most likely I will try those 1st) I don;t know what line/combo and how much of each I should use... Feel tempted to just order some old 30lb 0.55mm Maxima monofilament, but scared I'm missing out on new technology..

Took me a while to get used to braided, would get snarls at the rod tip but once you get used to it you'll never go back to mono.

    • @seanadams5440

Nope.....fuck that shit. Braid is trash in the surf. I've gotten used to it and still found myself ripping it off and going back to mono. 15# mono, maybe even 20, is all you need in the surf.

How important is braid line thickness for casting? Eg. 30lb 0.23 compared to 30lb 0.26?

I recently started using braided line and I noticed that I have to put extra loops in the leader line to tie it on. I haven't caught enough fish on it yet to decide if I like it or not but it seems good.

Don't forget to mention that braid needs to be spooled tightly. Loose braid will dig into itself and trust me its heart breaking when it happens

I know there are 100’s of videos and articles on how to spool your line/braid. It seems though every single one says to do it differently….meaning no consensus on method. What method do you recommend and use? Maybe a tackle Tuesday tutorial. Thank you.

I hope leader discussion is next week. 2 days later I head for the gulf. All my gear was freshwater. Spent a lot to setup for surf fishing this year. Last time I ruined 2 good reels by not rinsing them. Wow they turned to crap in a hurry!😂😂😂
