  • We've been really excited to see how many people have been enjoying making music with the new plugin from Get Good Drums, but we've had a few questions from people asking how to record a guitar amplifier to use with the plugin. So I thought I'd outline a couple of my favourite ways of recording an amp, so that it can be used with the plugin, giving really professional sounding results from some simple setups.
    Let us know what you think, if you already have the pack let us know how you are using it and don't forget to let us know if there is anything you want to see.

    Hey everyone. Just wanted to post a note to apologise for the buzz on the vocal mic here. We're not quite finished setting up in our new video room yet, and I had to record the voice mic in a slightly different way for this video. Thanks!

    Good, clear vid and I like the no bells or whistles approach. Reminds me of some of the better bike maintenance channels on here. To the point and no BS.
    Gonna crack out the Zilla/GGD IRs today and have a tracking session.

    Just bought this and tried it with Nolly, Bias FX2 and the free Tiny Terror plugin by Rooster Audio. I'm blown away by how good this is! excellent work guys 👏👏👏👍

    This was an excellent video, love the simple speaker level DI box solution! Even the FX loop one which sounded pretty good considering its limitations. I also have a Laney VC15 and they're totally underated amps - so really nice to see you use it 👍

      Awesome, thanks for that. Those AC15s are such great value aren't they. We are spoiled for choice here with amps but it is amazing how often that amp gets used. It really has a character of it own. Joe uses it a lot for bypassing the speaker and testing cabs too, but it sounds great as a stand alone combo too... maybe we should do a video on that amp.

    Great overview of many techniques! I use mostly reactive load with impulse responses because I can't crank my valve amp in the bedroom. It sounds incredible and is super practical. The only things missing are some speaker distortion and feedback between guitar and amp

      @ZillaCabs  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. I think that is a really good way around it. There's nothing quite like a bit of controlled feedback when needed/wanted but it's not always practical to be blasting an amp in the bedroom ;)

    When you go thru your interface, arnt you going to still be dealing with some latency? Even when using a real amp? How to you deal with that issue?

    I think I have the same DI box, so I was wondering whether you use the attenuation buttons to bring the level down at all? - just curious before i tried this out myself.

    • @ZillaCabs
      @ZillaCabs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We've used it as an attenuator and it sounds great, the best attenuator I've heard.

    • @Mikeyprs21
      @Mikeyprs21 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ZillaCabs sounds promising! Would you suggest using both attenuator buttons (-40) or would 1 (-20) on the DI box be enough??
      I thinking the former is better due to the power the amp is outputting?
      For reference, I am using an V1 Engl Powerball.

    Thank you for the great overview for different approaches to record guitar with the cab plugin. Just want to ask a question regarding the 2nd method. So I understand the normal signal chain in a real amp would be going from preamp into fx loop then finally the power amp section. Using the 2nd approach we are only using the preamp from a real amp then straight into the cab sim. My question here is with the power amp section. I found out there is a power amp simulation plugin (the ignite amps tpa-1). Would it be necessary to use such thing with the cab sims and IRs? I have watched different videos regarding IRs but not really get into details about this. Also, are there any other power amp simulation plugin out there? Thanks!

    Why isn't Archetype Nolly in the "Gear List"?

      I guess it was just a small mistake when Joe was typing up the gear list.
