I have to agree with what you say about not living life thinking "what if?". If you feel the break is right for you then go for it 1000%. Cheers! o7

A long break is a good option possibly, like with any other routine, you should progressively change it up instead of trying to cut it out immediately, since it could cause relapse issues. I love your vids, your humor is undoubtedly special and unique in youtube especially in todays age, and i wish the best for you. Legit you are one of the funniest people here. I have experience being the funny guy in class, shit gets agonizing after a while. For your sake, i hope you get it together, and if youtube is not a part of your life when you have it together, then that's completely fine no pressure, i personally am completely fulfilled with all the things you've done here. Thank you jixaw for all the funny ass and cool shit you've put out, I can't stress enough how much i enjoy your videos, and i hope you fill in the hollow chess pieces n shit y'know. Seeya

thank you for saying that dawg. i'm really glad to read it. i knew someone out there would enjoy all this nonsense. and yeah progressive change (aka hard limits on screen-time in a day) might be the good move. i'm gonna brainstorm on how i'll approach it specifically.

I love when you get real.
I'm only 21 but the last two years for me were both shit and a lesson.
Shit because after graduated from highschool I stuck at home because my family requires my help (which is fine) but when my help wasn't needed I just played on my pc all day long. I got into a downwards spiral and although I never thought of doing THAT, I was thinking on how much easier it would be to just not exist. Like be nothing, do nothing.
A lesson, because without that 2 years being wasted in the digital world which (if we can say) doesn't even exist I wouldn't be trying to break the cycle. I realised that I'm not a 14 years old kid. I've grown up. I have a mission here. There are people that count on me and for someone I mean the world. Because of this I lately had enough and started to try break out of this cycle. And since then I don't have thoughts on not being.
It's sad to hear your situation and although you are like 9 years older than me I can get a sense of the pain that you have. But keep trying. You are capable of big and great things! You're time will come. Just keep going and never you dare to stop! Just look back. Who has channel with 200k subs? You! Who worked hard for it? You! Who gave thousands upon thousands of people a histerical laughing session that almost resulted in suffocation? YOU!
If you feel that taking a break is the way for you, do it. I support you in that. Allocate the time you were spending to playing video games and shit to focus on your life and passions! I believe in you!
I was trying to be motivational here. I hope I wasn't too cringe.
Thanks for everything, man! It's been a pleasure. Now go and win!

    • @JixawXP
      @JixawXP  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

it's not cringe dawg. it's facts. thank you for your words. indeed you have a little while to go until you're at my age but since you're already aware of these things i suspect you'll be in a much better spot. And you know, those 200k don't mean shit if i can't enjoy it. So a gradual break/putting a stop to the current patterns is probably the best way to go.

My man, you are an older brother to me since I'm only 22, but I am a bipolar disorder patient, with a suicide attempt and hospital spells under my belt. You are supported in whatever you decide, but please try to maintain a positive outlook on life: anything is possible with a good routine and patience, as well as support (medical or otherwise) as it is needed. You're making 100s of thousands laugh on this channel, so you're more than capable of connecting with people and finding, or creating a place for yourself in this world. I am making it, others are too, and so will you. We love you Jixaw!

    Hey man,
First I want to say how refreshing it is to hear someone talk so candidly about this stuff. I do not know you personally but have watched you a lot over the past few years. I'm sorry to hear you have had a tough year, but a lot of what you said I can relate to. That mindset shift of realising the life you want and how you have no idea what to do to attain it. It is a very sobering realisation and I have been there and back a bunch of times. I'm not sure how I made it out, but I can suggest a few things that have helped me:
    1) Reducing my screen time has helped a shit tonne. Social media particularly has been a poison to my self esteem, and I am a zoomer who has had this shit embedded in my brain since I was 15 lmao. 2) Reading up on stoicism (Meditations) has helped me accept a lot about my life, and myself, and attempt to see the world through a more objective, positive lens. I know its kinda pretentious but it has genuinely helped me so much. 3) Prioritisation of the small things in life. What I mean is like making sure I do the dishes and laundry and shit like that, if you can find a way to appreciate the process of that and give yourself credit for actually just being able to slightly function at all it helps you feel accomplished. 4) Give yourself time and love yourself as best you can. I am only 23 but I imagine the closing of another decade is probably existential crisis inducing. Hopefully when you turn 30 you will feel less pressure on yourself :P 5) Keep drawing man, I got in touch with my drawing again this year and I do not think I would be the same if I hadn't. Maybe also start journaling, either writing it down or making a video like this (if that helps, you clearly have a knack for it)
I also want to say that there was a point in 2020 August ish where I genuinely almost attempted on my own life, but didn't. One of the things I remember kept me smiling around those times were your videos. And yes I mean the silly breaking bad dubs that we like to meme on. I did stick around and I am so glad I did. So I want to personally thank you.
All the best and I think the break is probably the healthiest idea. I hope you can find a place where you are content in life and are healthy.
    Kindest regards,
    Stephen

I _really_ relate to what you're saying about feeling like you're not doing much with your life and you're wasting time. I've been in a similar situation the last few years (awful health, terminally online, stuck at home a lot, 4-5 years behind my peers), and I'm crawling out of it at the moment. There were absolutely some days when I was just surviving, too. I know it's probably pretty parasocial, but I think I can give some give some good advice. A lot of it is easier said than done, sounds tacky, and I can't even stick to it some days. But I hope it helps.
    1) You'll probably never stick with going completely cold turkey on social media and games, and that's okay. It's likely that you'll find there's a small online social circle and some games that genuinely mean something to you, and you won't be able to part with them. There's nothing wrong with that. What you need to do is separate those things from all the stuff that's detrimental. For me, that meant dropping twitter entirely and cutting down my regular discord presence to 3 servers and 2 group chats that were actually important to me. Doing the same with youtube and gaming at the moment; muting yt topics and channels that distract me (so many streamer clips...) and uninstalling games that I use to waste time.
    2) Bite the bullet and find irl stuff that's genuinely satisfying and makes you feel like you're part of something. That took a lot of different forms for me; I've done volunteering, I'm in my university's rocketry club, and I'm looking at campaigning I can be involved with. It's a very difficult thing to get started on, as a lot of community stuff is way too opaque these days and I struggled to know how to approach people. But my advice is just to _ask_ someone about it. If you're concerned about your weight, ask your doctor if there's any casual exercise groups in the local area they can recommend. I was in a weekly walking group last year, and that got me out of the house to socialise with people and get exercise. I got several hours walking in each week, and combined with some reasonable dieting, I lost about 20kg in a year. Also, see if your local government puts up info on places that need a hand. That's how I found out about the wildlife centre that I volunteered at this summer. The added benefit is, once you're involved with something like that, you can ask other people there about what's on in your local community, and you can find new and better things to get involved with that way.
    3) Find something good in every day and learn to let go. When you're in this state, it's very easy to find negatives and ways something could have been better. What worked for me was not to try and push back against that kind of thinking (you can't, it's human nature), but to try finding at least one good thing I'd done every day. Could be anything, even something mundane like finishing paperwork. And as time goes on, you can look back on more and more achievements and put those next to the good things you did each day. That being said, there are some days when you can't get anything good done. Some days it's your own fault, but a lot of the time it isn't. I fell ill recently, and whilst it only lasted a weekend, it caused me to drop behind with some important uni work. There wasn't a lot I could do, really, but I still kicked myself over it for a whole week. I shouldn't have done that, because there really are things beyond your control in life, and you have to let go of them.
    4) Improvements happen slowly. Reaaaallly slowly. You won't feel like you've achieved much in your first six months, probably not in your first year, either. And that's normal. You've just got to be patient and forgiving with yourself.
    5) It's never really too late. This one isn't about me, actually. I've had plenty of difficulties with being "behind" myself, and it took me three years to finish the first year modules on my uni course because of how bad I was, but I don't want to focus on that. Instead, I want to talk about a woman I met through the course. She's in her mid-30s, has two kids and was going through a divorce when I first met her. She'd spent her adult life in office jobs, but after joining a course through the Open University, she realised she wanted to do aerospace engineering and made the pivot. Which is crazy to think when you consider almost everyone joining the course is 18 and fresh out of school. Last time I spoke to her, she'd secured an apprenticeship-type job at one of the big players in the industry. So don't worry about hitting 30 in a month lol. You've got plenty of time to do something with your life.
Again, hope that helps. This has been the only time I've been able to give advice I thought was actually useful to someone, so I went all in. Good luck in wherever life takes you.
Also, as a fellow TF|2 player, I highly recommend pivoting from the Volt to one of the meme weapons if you just want to have fun. EPG, Devotion and Mozampeak spring to mind. It's a lot of fun to get the drop on sweats with Devo. CAR can't save you from the wrath of the bullet hose once it's at full speed. Satchel is also the objective funniest pilot ordnance. Slow as a slug, but sends whole groups of pilots to the shadow realm and does obscene damage to titans. No one ever sees it coming, either. And practice wall-kicking! You can build up a lot of speed if you repeatedly bounce off walls right as you hit them, which you can then combo with Stim to go _insanely_ fast.

thanks for this monumental comment. you're hitting the nail on the head on every aspect and i'll be using this as my cheat-sheet. i really appreciate it. and about becoming 30, it's not even the age that bothers me, it's the years that came before. like, i wish i tried to take control of things earlier. but as they say the best time to plant a tree was 9 years ago, second best time is now etc.
and as a titanfall 2 player that just wants to go fast, i love wall kicking. godspeed.

I watched you for quite a while now, I always found comfort and carelessness in your videos. I always wondered if creators like you, who always portrait themselves in a funny and happy manner, feel sad or reflect on the many years they have been hiding this "real" and more hopeless versions of themselves. Only now, when I myself lived through that, I understood that this platform is nothing more than a grey factory that produces engagement and clout, which slowly drowns its workers without repercussion. Things are not so easy like they used to be...
P.S. Take as long of a break as you need, my friend. The workers need their vacation after all. I hope you'll find a place where you belong and truly become satisfied with yourself. God speed brother.

As a person that had the tendencies, i can confirm that the easy way out is not the only way out. Working a shit job that was actively killing me, the feeling of having to wake up to feeling depressed, it was just horrible. I spent time not changing a thing for the worse mentally, and the day it all clicked was quite possibly my worst and my best day at the same time.
The grind is always inevitable, but its never worth it. People tend to go and feel happy when they think that the "Grind paid off" but tend to forget that the grind itself was quite possibly the worst ever experience. (I know this cause i felt happy when i paid off my house, forgetting that i had the most miserable time financially and mentally)
The "What if" question always lingers in the back of my and everyone's head, and it is completely normal to think about.
Breaks are amazing, mentally and physically working on yourself will always help you in the long term. Youll get to think more clearly, and more importantly, feel more happy about yourself.
    God speed, king

Realistically, the age fact does not matter. You may start early with the grind (started basically as soon as i have hit 18, meaning that my private life regarding friends and relationships has suffered), or late. Ive seen people start with their grind at the age of 30+ and succeeded (my friend and his wife just paid off a house themselves). As long as there is a commitment to better yourself, that is all that matters.

Hey man. Really glad for this little talk, it's a good step forward for you. I for one know I'm not content with where I am in life. I'm kind of just waiting on getting the energy to work on stuff that would move me along, I don't stress on it too much. I have a career so at least that part is sorted, now only the decisions need to made - move out to my own place, do health appointments, get new clothes, start exercising again, work on getting a gf again, be a better friend to those I haven't isolated myself from, seek out the old ones. For the time being I'm occupied with my work (which is basically a hobby, I love it, and it does fill me with a sense of purpose), and massively gaming n shit. It's fun, and I wouldn't even have to give up on it, it's just as you kind of said - scarily comfortable. I do hope the time comes soon, when I start working on some stuff to become a complete and more interesting person, but I'm in a fortunate enough situation to not have to stress about it too much. I wasted some very important years on a failed uni stint, it cost me time, love, pride and fortune, and that I've had the opportunity to make something of myself, is already very reassuring.
Be safe my dude. I really hope you give it your best and see the results that you seek. And please, only be hard on yourself to a considerate and healthy amount. I believe it's completely acceptable to not be alright, it doesn't mean you're a piece of shit. I know because I know I am not one. The immature decisions I've made, I've not made them out of malice and such, so I don't have to be ashamed of them. Also for closing, just yesterday my friend told me about that never kll ur self meme holy fuck how much do i have to censor this k iunno what's against community guidelines in this but ok, it definitely made me feel like 5% better. Keep pushing on, life ain't always empty.

Bro go for it. I think feeling this need for a break can only be a positive thing and this would be the right time to do it since you have the motivation.
I've had a similar "What if?" moment but on a smaller scale, with my art, as I dropped it for 5 years in the past. Then one night I was wondering "What would my drawings look like if I drew for all this time?" and right after that I thought "Would I rather be asking myself this same question in the future or would I rather start drawing again and see for myself what 5 years of progress look like?"
The fifth year of drawing just begun and each time I compare my drawings to what they were back then I can't but feel good about it and be grateful to my past self for making that decision.
I guess what I'm saying is: trying to do things that could both make you happy and impress your past self, seems like a decent strategy to me

I'm 26 years old and i live in Iran, Long story short there are a lot of things wrong over here from economy to essential human rights and a couple of years ago i had this nihilistic outlook on everything not so dissimilar to what you described yourself going through. it's a pretty tricky situation because your feelings and logic will keep feedbacking and legitimizing each other keeping you where you are, and that's not to say they are wrong but perspective plays a really big in how something is perceived. from personal experience and also people near me, the most effective way to break this loop is seeking professional help like visiting a psychiatrist or therapist. enjoy your life.

I think I speak for everyone here when I say that we’d rather know that you’re happy and comfortable in your life, than have new stimulus when you grace us with a new video. Ultimately it doesn’t matter what we do with our lives, cause there will always be some version of ourselves that made better choices and ended up more successful. I’d rather be happy during the limited time that I’m alive. Do what feels right for YOU, not what others say is best for you.

I'm sorry you have been struggling with life at the moment and I'm sorry you are feeling this way about your life. I can reassure you that you have made thousands and thousands laugh. You have helped distract us from the hardships of everyday life and for that, we thank you. You've made a difference in the world. Even if you don't think it.
If you think that stepping back from TH-cam is the right way to go in order to make yourself happy. By all means, go for it. Heck, you don't need us to approve. To hell with us. Go be happy! Things change, people change and that's completely normal. Mad respect for you and the best of luck out there! (:

I don't think anyone in their right mind would ask you to stay if it was not what was best for you, always prioritize your own health over what people may think. Take my channel for example, I've been completely inactive for 5 months because I had to fully focus on my degree, which inherently was more important than satisfying the endless hunger of the content beast. At the end of the day we only live so much and it's not worth wasting it on things that do not make us happy. Good luck to you :)

Hey mate, definitely take a break if you need - you've got to take care of Number 1. Don't feel like you need to post something all the time to satisfy subscribers either - they will understand I'm sure. You have provided a lot of joy and laughter to many people, including myself and I really appreciate it. I am a similar age to you too so I get where you are coming from with the age aspect. However, you still really have your whole life ahead of you at 30. Still, I understand the feel of your 20's being gone. I have been working since I got out of high school so I missed out on a lot of social events, trips etc. so sometimes I do look back and think, "Could I have done more? Did I miss out on things I could have done back then?". Try not to dwell on it, keep your head up towards the future and the present because that's where we're at now. You can make things happen.
As I said before, due to my work, I am often missing out on social events or catch ups with my mates so I think I understand that feeling of feeling like you are alone sometimes - but remember that your friends and family will always be there to support you.
If you are looking to make a change to your lifestyle, you don't need to think of huge changes straight away, but instead start with small things and build from there. Maybe do something that you haven't tried before to challenge yourself.
Here are a few things I like doing which I think have helped (maybe they will give you some ideas):
1.) I like to try making a new recipe/meal each month and add it to my own cookbook that I can look at later and make it again (if the new recipe is any good).
2.) I also like taking a day trip now and then on my days off to walk, drive or cycle around an area I haven't been before. There are places that are interesting and relaxing that may be closer to you than you think. This helps me relax and when I go for walks I try to listen, feel and smell the surroundings and really experience what is around in nature. One of my favourite places to go is down the coast where I can listen to the ocean, feel the sand under my feet and smell the fresh air (except in winter, it is too cold then hahah)
3.) Learn to appreciate what you have. In my case, at the end of each day I try to list 3 things that I enjoyed or was greatful for that day.
4.) Getting exercise in during the week. Any kind of physical activity will do you good, even if it is going for a walk every day. Try starting with 10 push ups and 10 sit ups each evening. Then, progress to 15 the next week, 20 the next, etc. Be disciplined with this and you will get stronger and feel better. Discipline is the key.
To kill two birds with one stone, you could play a team game like basketball with your friends once a week. Join a amateur league with friends on a weekday and play for fun. You don't need to be "really good" to play. Not only is basketball fun, but you can get together with your mates and have a good time. It doesn't have to be basketball either, it could be another sport like bowling or soccer, whatever you enjoy.
5.) Reading a physical book can take you away from the computer and get invested in a story away from the screen. The book doesn't even need to have a story. It might be a history book, or a book about a person or a group of people. I would recommend two books I read recently - "The Right Stuff" by Tom Wolfe and "Masters of Doom" by David Kushner. Both great reads about some great people.
I find another thing that reducess stress and helps me is being organised. Getting organised has helped me stay disciplined and less worried about what the future holds and what I need to get done. For example, I use a paper calendar (not on a phone) where I write in a weekly plan every Sunday. This way I can spend an hour or two on the Sunday to plan the week ahead and I don't have to think too hard about what is happening during the week - I can just look at the calendar and see what is next or needs to be done. Or something as simple as doing a 'spring clean' of the things in your room/apartment could help as well.
Sorry if this was a bit long, more than happy to give some other suggestions if you would like. These are just some of the things I've done to improve my lifestyle.
Remember - your future is what you make it, and the great journey starts with a single step. It is up to you to take it - Seize the day and be the best version of you. You will make it bro.
