Still could win: C4, the black king captures the pawn on b2.. White escape with a2 to at... Now whatever the black plays, the one of the white pawns passes. The white should have won.

It's not that hard after a while of playing it you get used. He had a strategy from the start so he didn't have to think that long. They made a lot of mistakes if you analyse the video slowly or the dude was going easy on him
He killed 3 pawns at last that was crazy. Infact he has calculated the entire situation till his pawn is queened and hence pushed the b5 pawn forward. Excellent calculations and execution and and and in between there was a stalemate scare.
Yeah I understood everything and at the end when he still had a took my thought process was to simply move the king forwards to keep advancing those pawns with the rook in tact but he somehow thought ahead to take all the pawns and move the king in such a way to get the queen and avoid a stalemate
Chess is honestly a very simple game. A majority of chess is analyzing the situation and seeing what move will A)have your pieces be most useful, and b) have them most defended. People lose matches because they make a move that doesn’t orient well with AorB

This kid is pretty good, for a seven year old. I wasn't even thinking about chess, when I was 7. I was just being a kid and enjoying my childhood at that age, lol. This endgame was full of game deciding mistakes. At 8:06, black should have played Kg5, but the trigger happy g3 is still winning. After ...g3, Rxf3, then g2 should have been played, giving up the rook to promote the pawn. Instead Rxf3 was played, completely winning for white. At 8:13, white should focus on pushing the pawns, he has 3 of them compared to black's 1, he can promote one of them without the help of the king. Instead he moved his king over, and allowed black to take all his pawns for free. This game was then still drawing until 8:24
Very true...the title of the video is a bit unfortunate since it actually display poor technique by Black, which liquidates a completely won Rook endgame into a completely lost pawn endgame; all White had to do at 8:13 is push b4 and c5, his pawns chain becomes invulnerable (Black can never go chase the a3 pawn, the other two will promote by themselves) and he can calmly bring the King back and win

When I play chess, I like to take my time and contemplate each move. This game was over in less than 10 minutes! Not bad though. My props to the seven year old. He's ahead of time, good game! 😊
This endgame was full of game deciding mistakes. At 8:06, black should have played Kg5, but the trigger happy g3 is still winning. After ...g3, Rxf3, then g2 should have been played, giving up the rook to promote the pawn. Instead Rxf3 was played, completely winning for white.
At 8:13, white should focus on pushing the pawns, he has 3 of them compared to black's 1, he can promote one of them without the help of the king. Instead he moved his king over, and allowed black to take all his pawns for free. This game was then still drawing until 8:24
Very true...the title of the video is a bit unfortunate since it actually display poor technique by Black, which liquidates a completely won Rook endgame into a completely lost pawn endgame; all White had to do at 8:13 is push b4 and c5, his pawns chain becomes invulnerable (Black can never go chase the a3 pawn, the other two will promote by themselves) and he can calmly bring the King back and win

8:08 i too thought of pawn g3 here but i calculated and saw that pawn is falling.. but man this kid managed to win even after that.. That turning pawn to a queen was insane.. such good endgame techniques..
8:13 Richard could win by Creating Pawn Chain with C5 and B4, but he got distracted hard and play king moves

Kid has mastered king vs pawn endgame! That's not too shabby! White has to learn 3 pawn push. I can't do it right either! ;)
Makes me feel sad that even though I could see the right move he’s half my age, but even then wasn’t till this year I could start seeing moves ahead I have a long way to go, and Jesus I have a sorta kid like him in my chess club, you do not want to see them lose
