Kul Tiran just another human. Void elf , Nightborne just another elf. Mechagnome just another Gnome. At least Vulpera , Worgen, Dracthyr were something different. Sorry but Hard to get excited about them. War within has some genuine great improvements and things I'm looking forward too but earthen just feels meh. what did you expect, Blizzard Retardtainment... so much clipping, new animations are shit, older ones better and more specific for each race, now all classes use the same animations regardless what race you play, cloaks are shorter... purely idiots on that side of the team.
I wish they would bring decent allied races like the Sethrak and co. You know, allied races that are worthy of the name. They should have put all these extra Dwarven, Draenei and co. options better into the individual races instead of spamming these allied races with double and triple races that already exist.
I doubt they'll ever give us any new race that requires a whole new rig ever again - even FFXIV said how hard it is to make all their gear from the game's whole lifespan fit a new race - and that's valuable time the team could be spending on everything else players want! I imagine any new race we'll ever see again will always be based on a rig that's already in the game - like basically every new race has been for several years now.
Blizzard fixed this problem. When the Zandalari Trolls came out Blizzard had massiv problems because they weren't designed to be playable bye the players. The Nightborn had the exact same problem. Blizzard then announced, that from then on they would design all new races directly in the mindset to be in the future playable bye the players. In order to avoid exactly this problem, should it ever again occur in the future.
That would probably be a full race that needs a new skeleton. And would have similar problems to the dracythyr in their ability to wear armor and transmog.
Ogres have been part of the Horde since the Founding of Durotar, back in Warcraft 3, and after 20 years of WoW they're still not playable... Oh yeah, and taunka, the tauren of Northrend are also trapped in a time bubble, despite joining the Horde in WotLK.
yea i remember even when vanilla WoW was pre-beta tons of people was asking for (and expecting) playable Ogres. I dont get it why they havent done it, it cant be any more difficult than Kul'tiran or Pandarean. Vrykul would been cool for the hordas well. And Tuskar.

Yeah, I like allied races, keep them coming but make them unique, because from what I can see, horde has 3 unique new races, the Zandalari, Nightborne and Vulperas, and Alliance has only 2, maybe even 1,5 because mecha-gnomes are unique but they are still based on gnomes with just some extra bits, and Kul Tiran humans are actually unique. These dwarves are pretty good imo, lot of customization and they are in the Horde as well, but still, they are just dwarves with some extra things. Actually new races would be cool, not just reskins/recolors.
I feel like they missed an opportunity with the mining joke. They should have made it: mining your own Bismuth. Seeing Bismuth is native to their starting zone.

I'd rather they'd just made new customizations for dwarves and dark irons, it's the same thing for lightforged and such. It sucks not having the cool hairs, horns, accessories etc. tied to one version of a race that can't be combined with the others. Lightforged have all those cool horn jewelry options but regular draenei don't. And earthen get a lot of hairstyles and beards that would've been better on regular dwarves and dark irons. Not to mention those gem body options are kind of sucky when you compare them to some of the concept arts that have them meshed into banded patterns in their skin rather than awkwardly jutting out 10 inches from their shoulders.
I love when jokes include references to lore. That thousands of years to reawaken bit was a nice touch. The flirt about dreaming too, because they canonically experience glimpses into their past lives. Despite the Archive for the most part wiping them clean.
Thanks for the videos as always! I do wish the Earthen hair was rock instead of some kind of wiring, but not the end of the world. Overall fairly excited to hop in and play at some point and already have a name saved for a future Earthen hunter.
Super excited to make my Earthen Shaman and possibly Paladin. At first I was a bit letdown but they definitely grew on me, specially with them being 25% taller than normal dwarves, makes the small model way more tolerable. They got really really cool customization options aswell.

Looking for racial clarification - 1 does damage, 2 heals, 3 does added dmg. Am I right that these build on each other, so if you do 2, it heals AND does damage to the target; 3 would do base damage, heal, and do that extra damage? I think this is the first empower that does markedly different actions (dmg and heal) based on the rank, so just wanted to be clear (and beta appears to be down atm)
In a recent patch note, Blizzard said you no longer had to level "normally" to unlock heritage armor for allied races and could use the paid level ups - anyone know if that applies to Earthen as well?

Are you sure boosted Earthborn can't get heritage armor? I logged on my boosted vulpera and received a quest to go to Voldun where I picked up their heritage armor. Then, as an experiment, I boosted a low level Ork and immediately got the quest for Ork heritage armor.
You can now run a horde guild made of humans (undead), dwarves (Earthern) and elves (Nightborne/blood elf.) If only they had got mechagnomes, you could play a classic alliance guild in the horde.
No it's definitely not just a reskin you obviously don't see the chiseled details on the stone skin, the wire hair, the unique beards and hair, the unique Dances, the crystals protruding from their arms and legs, the unique voices. 😅

I was already on the Earthen train since I'm a dwarf fan, and seeing all the effort the devs put into them as a playable race makes me even more excited to play one. All the season 1 tier sets in Dragonflight being made of rock really sweetens the deal too

I'm all for expanding with alternate species and cultures of races. By having Dark Iron Dwarves as a separate race we got cool racials that fit their backstory, the same as other subspecies that became allied. I just wish Blizzard would stop pushing the Neutral Races as I feel they completely destroy faction identity. With the Pandaren it was a spiritual decision based on their beliefs and so they were completely fine killing other Pandaren if they were on the opposing faction. I know there's a strong peace now to make it more believable but I liked it better when each faction got a race to themselves
I do wish they kept the option to be Death Knights, cause with the existence of the Bronze Dragonflight and stuff, it kinda feels silly to block off options now due to "not having been there at the time" cause now everyone can "be there at the time" to learn those methods of combat to bring back to the current timeline.
It doesn't make sense lore wise because they are not flesh and blood they are made of rock, they also don't eat food, they only eat minerals. They can't be undead because they ain't alive in the sense that's required for death knights. Yes some kind of magic could prolly reanimate them but they'd just be rocks again lol
@danielsteiger6823 True, though I counter with Mechagnomes. While they do still have some flesh left, they are almost entirely machine, whether inside or out yet they can be death Knights. Blizzard themselves stated the only reason they got rid of the option for them to be DKs was due to no current lich king rather than saying it doesn't make sense for the stone to not be undead.
Calling it now Earthen will get a quest down the line for Death Knights. Lot’s of Earthen will likely (sadly) die in War Within and Bolvar will find a way to turn them!
Not sure how it went in other places, but here videogames are expensive so there was a small trend of "playing" Just Dance through youtube, and the Rasputin dance got somewhat famous then. I wouldn't be surprised if this influenced the decision, since videos of that dance have millions of views Also, different dances for the same skeleton? Dance studio confirmed soon™️?
Everyone forgetting that Allied races have all been races that use current race skeletons. There’s still chances for Blizz to add your pie in the sky race, but just because they haven’t doesn’t make this choice bad.
I think it is more that it was just another dwarf. Personally I don't actually mind as a horde player it is the first dwarf option. I think probably the biggest issue is for alliance, ideally they would have paired it with lightforged undead or some sort of troll/orc. I actually thought about swapping my shaman into one. I am waiting and hoping that shamans get added as a race option for the dracthyr though. I don't have much hope though because I think they will only do races that are options for an elf skeleton that way they won't need to do new casting animations.

We are going back to Northrend after Midnight, so. Taunka may not be a lost cause
they never even bothered to "complete" the taunka, giving only males the unique bison look. Females just regular tauren still.

Super excited for an earthen shaman. All the hate theyre getting is bizarre, the second its not another elf race its suddenly treated like a mistake.
I'm pretty sure I did everything but seems to me I don't know how to unlock after achievements.

No it's definitely not just a reskin you obviously don't see the chiseled details on the stone skin, the wire hair, the unique beards and hair, the unique Dances, the crystals protruding from their arms and legs, the unique voices. 😅

Ofcourse the're no more druids, that would mean for Blizzard to make new models and actually do some work instead of just the easy cope/paste everything nowadays.
See, I’m puzzled now, we’ve got some saying you need to do the max level quests to get Earthen, and others including the War within site saying it’s just the level up campaign and a few side missions 🤔
So what the difference (other than lore) between the earthen and the dark iron drawfs? They look kinda the same.

I was already on the Earthen train since I'm a dwarf fan, and seeing all the effort the devs put into them as a playable race makes me even more excited to play one.
All the season 1 tier sets in Dragonflight being made of rock really sweetens the deal too

I would like that they use the skeletons but with total different skins like Goblins and Vulperas, they are totally different races, but Dwarves are just recolors

I'm all for expanding with alternate species and cultures of races. By having Dark Iron Dwarves as a separate race we got cool racials that fit their backstory, the same as other subspecies that became allied. I just wish Blizzard would stop pushing the Neutral Races as I feel they completely destroy faction identity. With the Pandaren it was a spiritual decision based on their beliefs and so they were completely fine killing other Pandaren if they were on the opposing faction. I know there's a strong peace now to make it more believable but I liked it better when each faction got a race to themselves
The way to get them won't be difficult (since you don't need reputation and so on) but it seems long and heavy...
Wish we still got rock beards. I just want to make a northrend earthen to ride the iron protodrake

I do wish they kept the option to be Death Knights, cause with the existence of the Bronze Dragonflight and stuff, it kinda feels silly to block off options now due to "not having been there at the time" cause now everyone can "be there at the time" to learn those methods of combat to bring back to the current timeline.
It doesn't make sense lore wise because they are not flesh and blood they are made of rock, they also don't eat food, they only eat minerals. They can't be undead because they ain't alive in the sense that's required for death knights. Yes some kind of magic could prolly reanimate them but they'd just be rocks again lol
@danielsteiger6823 True, though I counter with Mechagnomes. While they do still have some flesh left, they are almost entirely machine, whether inside or out yet they can be death Knights. Blizzard themselves stated the only reason they got rid of the option for them to be DKs was due to no current lich king rather than saying it doesn't make sense for the stone to not be undead.
Calling it now Earthen will get a quest down the line for Death Knights. Lot’s of Earthen will likely (sadly) die in War Within and Bolvar will find a way to turn them!
Not sure how it went in other places, but here videogames are expensive so there was a small trend of "playing" Just Dance through youtube, and the Rasputin dance got somewhat famous then. I wouldn't be surprised if this influenced the decision, since videos of that dance have millions of views

you're getting into tinfoil hat at the end there, vulpera use the goblin skeleton and have a different dance from goblins

Everyone forgetting that Allied races have all been races that use current race skeletons. There’s still chances for Blizz to add your pie in the sky race, but just because they haven’t doesn’t make this choice bad.
I think it is more that it was just another dwarf. Personally I don't actually mind as a horde player it is the first dwarf option. I think probably the biggest issue is for alliance, ideally they would have paired it with lightforged undead or some sort of troll/orc.
I actually thought about swapping my shaman into one. I am waiting and hoping that shamans get added as a race option for the dracthyr though. I don't have much hope though because I think they will only do races that are options for an elf skeleton that way they won't need to do new casting animations.

Horde should have gotten dark iron, or something similar
inc earthen tank only guild requirements. 10% base armor is cracked
we have very different opinon's on what qualifies as a starting zone
