That little tracked vehicle is handier than pockets on a T-shirt, I could use one on my farm for various chores besides hauling in firewood. It looks to make life a lot easier.
Awesome! This is a really nice video. I can tell you put a lot of thought into setting up your camera angles. Great job. And I love that little tracked vehicle, "the oxen"
Я в восторге от такой техники. Сколько раз пересматривал видео и не могу оторваться. Сильнейшая техника! Насколько все продумано до мелочей, что кроме восхищения ничего выразить не могу. Интересно, а где снят этот сюжет?
I have watched this almost a dozen times over the last couple years.. I'm not sure if it's the toys you're working with or the fact that you brave it on a glorified boat dock with an outboard motor.. or the way you haul it home on the road.. But I'm constantly in awe with no lack of jealousy wishing I could bring home wood like this every day. I love the speed of the winch. I am finally building something similar onto my wood trailer so I can get logs and huge rounds into it easier. It won't be side load until I disect the trailer and make the sides removable but adding a hoop to the back of the trailer will make it possible for now. I also love the idea of running a quiet electric wood splitter.. Maybe by the time I'm 60 I'll have all the toys too
Hello Daniel! Thanks for your kind comments and thanks for watching. I'm retired and have been collecting toys for many years. The "Oxen" can be found as secondhand, they are smart designed and highly reliable. Happy New Year to you! //Peter
U R very welcome. (I just subscribed) I got to tell U, it's nice to see ur dog with you. My Begal, Bowzer died 2 years ago. He went every where with me, he loved to go into the woods. Incredible nose on that boy. Had him for 13 years. Died of old age. I just can't get a dog again, none would be like him. Enjoy yours, life is good.
For people like me that spend the day in front of this computer screen, it is good to know how you do it and the surroundings where you live. It is very interesting. Thank you for posting.
Hey nyhage, I am in NY and after the hurricane I saw so many trees (hard oak) being pulverized by the tree companies into mulch and I was like "Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!" because I saw facecords and full cords and dollar signs LOL
Great video! It's interesting to see how others get their firewood. I just drive about ten miles in my truck with splitter to a friend's house who has a tree removal service. Plenty easy! Well, maybe not "Easy" easy -- but no rafts or water crossings involved! I like the "Oxen" log-dragger thing. I need something like that. Thanks for posting this excellent video!
Great little mule. Did all my wood gathering by hand because I couldn't afford the cost of fuel for heat, thus making one of those little rigs impossible.
Wow, I'm sure you don't look forward to it, but that looked like a relaxing day of getting out and getting some wood. Getting away from it all. Some neat equipment, and of course, the cool dog.
A one-man, one-dog, one-machine operation! This is how my dad got firewood, except that he used a horse and a bucksaw. Takes me back.... Thanks for sharing this. Great video!
After March tornado.....so many hardwoods.....plus cut 100 yr. old cedar trees knocked down..took logs to Amish ..made coffee/end tables....hauled as much tops could carry....sweet fragrant firewood
I just looked at your video again & at 2:00 you're backing off the barge and it looks like you have a "compensator". You have tubing that slides inside the outer tubing. On log trucks you have the "reach"(outer tubing) that connects the tractor with the trailer. At the head of the reach is pin you pull so the inner tubing will slide when you are loaded so you can make corners.(Most people don't realize on a long logger, the only thing making the trailer come/follow with the truck is the logs)
i have to admit, i keep coming back to your video--very well done and very peaceful in a strange way--makes me abit envious every time i watch it, however--
I liked your video. I see you tied to the front bunk because the front bunk is where you will strip the load. I've never pulled a load off the rear bunk in over 40 years of driving a log truck. Something that might speed things up a bit would be to use a set of tongs. I couldn't see if you had a "compensator" at the front of the reach. If you don't, how does it make corners? The first splitter looked like you used planner blades for the splitter. Thanks for the video, you gave me some ideas.
Excellent! A handy machine on tracks, a trip across the lake, a chainsaw, a day's work in the woods, the company of a good dog, and a pile of wood to show for it all when you are done...What more could you ask?
nyhage1: I saw some of coast line of the countries when we pulled into Oslo Norway in 1964 when I was in the navy. From what I saw of Norway if the other three countries was as beautiful as Norway then they must be something else. I couldn’t get over how beautiful the fiords looked pretty blue water. Thanks again for the information.
wow this is a great set up i live on my grandparents farm and we have a splitter that takes 6-14 ft long logs you roll it onto the lift it flips it on the rollers you push it through and it splits it then you take that piece to the next part of the splitter and turns it into legit split wood i fancy your set up
No Problem -I like when people take an idea make it there own and show the world what they have made I`m always making stuff better in my world too --But to have a barge to go with your log truck -Cool .
Wow! Everything is well thought out and designed. I'm guessing you did a lot of that yourself. Very nice set-up you've got there. The only comment I would make is that around these parts (central Minnesota) they say not to move wood to burn it. The concern is that you might be transporting the bugs that harmed the trees in the first place. Anyway, I commend you on your system. Nice job of filming too!
Great job on the video. Thank you for sharing, I find it fascinating. Brave to go on that raft with no life jacket, but I guess you did have some wood to float on. Really nice operations you have there.
Where's your hard hat, googles, gloves safety shoes hearing protection boat registration license plate on trailer dog license? Oh that's why you escaped to paradise...OSHA gonna find you with Google earth...lol Very nice rig only joking.Shalom
I always come back to watch this video once in a while, so good every time.
That little homemade barge stayed afloat with all that weight. Incredible!
Extremely top heavy and unstable
That little tracked vehicle is handier than pockets on a T-shirt, I could use one on my farm for various chores besides hauling in firewood. It looks to make life a lot easier.
i seriously didnt know that wood gathering could be this cool, give this man a cookie!
+oobie2b there's only one kinda cookie, it's a monster cookie ;)
This guy knows his way around tools and equipment that let's him get the job done. I'm impressed !
The guy is only surrounded by millions upon millions of trees and the tree huggers are complaining of no replanting. Unbelievable.
What a pleasure to watch someone who has mastered his craft to such an extent. Well done, sir
Awesome! This is a really nice video. I can tell you put a lot of thought into setting up your camera angles. Great job. And I love that little tracked vehicle, "the oxen"
Kind words - thank You.
Nice life, nice dog, nice machines and clean air ...
Great life style..... good on you.
I didn’t see the dog help at all. Maybe he’s there to keep feral rabbits from attacking.
the best overall setup I've ever seen. Very efficient and cool

A true steward of the land. That wood buggy is a good invention, making no ruts.
Well worth seeing time and time again. Greetings from Scotland.

вспоминаю когда жил в деревне сколько уходило сил и времени чтоб заготовить такую кучу дров , и всё вручную и на горбу

because I saw facecords and full cords and dollar signs LOL
I like to say, "wood warms you many times" a great display of do it yourself engineering
I enjoyed watching your hard work. You have some cool machines too. Makes it so much easier. Thanks for uploading!
Really like you little outfit to get your firewood with pretty cool thanks for sharing the video

ha, that's a cool little machine you have there... and a damn sharp saw too!
You have a really nice package. Nowadays you do not see that type of equipment that is used for 30 years. Nice video.
Good video ,shows you that some people still work for their comfort and survival.
;)
One of my favorites on here. Great job, thanks for sharing!
Great informational video I love the old tools
What did the Riddler say about Batman in the first Batman movie...? "Where does he get those marvelous toys? Hats off to you Sir!
Well the dog enjoyed the day out, lucky sod.

i have to admit, i keep coming back to your video--very well done and very peaceful in a strange way--makes me abit envious every time i watch it, however--

You make it look more like fun than like a chore to get firewood! :)
thanks for the video!
i now see it can carry more than I thought
Nice setup you have there! That mini forwarder looks very handy, especially for your uses!
that is one of the neatest little machines I've ever seen! Interesting!
Excellent! A handy machine on tracks, a trip across the lake, a chainsaw, a day's work in the woods, the company of a good dog, and a pile of wood to show for it all when you are done...What more could you ask?
That is an ingenious system you have running there!
More of the world lives closer to this than we in the USA. Think who'll win...
Yes I agree with the health and safety gentleman, the dog should be wearing a hard hat and safety gloves.
Natural gas but I love wood heat. I love that ingenuity its truly a very special talent. Someday I'm going to have a wood stove.
Nifty little machine u got there that would save my back a lot of work lol
Now that's a smooth operation.
Great set up.
Nice setup, you need a conveyer going into a dump truck/trailer for a quick off load.

Well worth seeing again, and saving.
That's quite a system you have there...impressive!!
Thank You!
Coolest firewood video by far!
No Problem -I like when people take an idea make it there own and show the world what they have made I`m always making stuff better in my world too --But to have a barge to go with your log truck -Cool .
Nyhage1,certainly knows how to sharpen a saw.
I think I would opt for a couple more barrels for floats
Man this is awesome. You've got it made.
Man i like your movie,i been looking for it long time, great movie and equipment
All that work only to bring back old softwood, not worth burning. Looks like he is having fun which is what it's all about.
I like that machine when I am working in a wood fence, fastest, strong, and with those trackers climbing hills
Very cool! all you need is a seat to put on the front though!
Shooting is very good, the clip looks like a pro documentary (and the dog is nice) -relaxing
Love the 020 with the rear handle, thats my exact setup for my climing saw !
That's a nice splitter, 10 tons is perfect though it is really no power it has the punch to it, thats its power right there.
Wow! Everything is well thought out and designed. I'm guessing you did a lot of that yourself. Very nice set-up you've got there. Great job on the video. Thank you for sharing, I find it fascinating. Brave to go on that raft with no life jacket, but I guess you did have some wood to float on. Really nice operations you have there.
