Elliott Robinson - Bass Singer Low Notes

- Here’s a guy who has hardly any information about his range on the internet. Besides a Range Place thread, which I used to make this video, this is one of if not the only video about his low notes or range in general. He can go lower in chest voice than pretty much any bass singer alive today. He can do subharmonics, but doesn’t use them hardly at all, there’s only one example I could find.
Elliott was the bass for Home Free before Tim Foust, he also sang bass for Street Corner Symphony. He now is part of Axiom Vocal group.
Hope you enjoyed this video. It’s different and cool. Hopefully I didn’t make any mistakes, but I probably did :) Make any future suggestions known, I’ll consider all ideas.

He is one of those bass singers who are so underrated. His low notes are incredible especially at 3:33.

JerryBoy: Tim storms, but in all honesty I don’t like the way his chest sounds. Yes it’s very cool he can go so low in chest, but it seems like he doesn’t have a lot of power around B1-Bb1. And his voice isn’t smooth around A-F#1.

It's crazy how back in the old-school Home Free days he used to sing only as low as Bb but now he has grown so much, much more control and comfort in the 1st Octave. Great bass with a great extensive range.

Robin bit harsh. Matt is great in his own way. He brings a new sound to PTX. Group dynamic is also important, especially with the millions of tours they do

I made a comment once on a Home Free vid asking when Tim he learned to sing so smOOOOth. Somebody pointed out that it wasn't Tim singing on that video, but rather Elliot. For people that want to see what I'm talking about, go look at 7th Avenue Bands "Straight Up And Down". At times he sounds more like an instrument than a voice. Amazing vocalist, IMO. Tim's a favorite, too, just a very different voice. And Avi, and Geoff.

His tone sounds very much like Tim Foust and that is good.

Maybe he just doesn't have a fry register... Or maybe when his voice goes lower and lower, his fry register blends with his Growl and Chest. I don't know, i'm jut trying to figure out how the hell he can sing that low. His voice is unique either way
HerringHome I believe he is just able to go super low in chest, down to C1, then it begins to mix with fry as you hear with the Bb0. His speaking voice is quite low as well. Definitely a super rare voice
He’s just really really really really really really really really low. I’d say his lowest supported chest note is probably an F1 at an absolute minimum

Elliott said in a comment when he did the slide down to b0 he was under the weather so i believe this was actual Chest you can hear how he is breathing in at the end through his nose so that confirms that, also i want to add i had a bad cold a few weeks ago and my Chest lowest dropped from C2-G#1 even so i could not sustain it, i was able to slide down there only twice, never again after that but considering Elliot said a few years ago he has typically an E1 it would make sense for him to go that deep under tge right conditions. Also i love his tone after b1 he goes wild but even before that he sounds great, can't wait to see more of him!
In my opinion after his A1 it starts to sound really raspy and chest fry ish. But otherwise really good.

Matthew Dockray: Yea Most of them are chest. I’m just saying in my opinion I just don’t like the sound after his A1. It just sounds very fry ish probably because he’s going so low.
@@crunchycrackers7364 Yeah because basically every note below like a1 sounds fry because you can literally hear each pulse in the chest vibration if that makes sense
@@kristianeskelund4420 it doesn't. Below A1 you still can't hear individual pulses, as long as the signal is smooth enough
