Built by renowned Dutch shipyard Feadship in 1983, the 182-foot (55.7m) motor yacht ILLUSION is a true classic.
A major 2010 refit breathed new life into ILLUSION and added five meters to her stern. This addition was done by Pendennis in conjunction with De Voogt. Motor yacht ILLUSION has a steel hull and aluminum superstructure and beautiful teak laid decks. She is able to cruise at 13 knots and reaches a top speed of 15 knots. ILLUSION can carry a captain and up to 13 crewmembers. She offers a beam of 28 feet (8.8m) and a draft of 10 and a half feet (3.2m).
ILLUSION offers a comfortable family atmosphere on board. She can accommodate up to 12 guests in six beautiful staterooms, including a full-beam owner's stateroom with a marble bathroom that features his-and-hers sinks, a Jacuzzi, a spacious office area, walk-in wardrobes and a dressing area. ILLUSION’s layout also offers a full-width VIP double cabin with marble bathroom, located aft, and four additional staterooms.
Bannenberg & Rowell are responsible for ILLUSION’s striking interior, which they refitted in 2010. The unmatched modern style and elegance evoke a comfortable and refined atmosphere on board. Large windows throughout allow the interior to be flooded with natural light, offering incredible views. The open, flowing layout is ideal for any type of charter.
On deck, ILLUSION has ample spaces for guests to enjoy the alfresco lifestyle. From covered outdoor dining on the aft deck to the sundeck’s open-air table amidships, and the sun loungers both forward and aft, there is plenty of room for alfresco entertainment. The sundeck also is home to a Jacuzzi. ILLUSION also boasts a beach club for easy access to the water.

Upon discovering this vessels price... I was astounded! With little research, I was impressed. I was not aware of anything that is this impressive, maintained and affordable (I use that word lightly) from Feadship. That ‘Badge’ is an impressive one. The same way that a Rolls Royce, is that ‘little bit’ more respected than its comparable Bentley model. Thanks again for the video. .

Beautifully presented.
I love how this yacht has a kayak and a laser. It's the first yacht I've seen mentioned that has any "toys" where the "player" actually needs to do real effort/exercise (as opposed to all the other yachts that have only motorized toys). If I'm going to be playing in the water I might as well get some exercise out of it. I'd charter this yacht over any other one just because of that.

What's cheaper owning a yacht or an aircraft? Challenger 650 private jet 200 hours per year is approximately $1,148,576 or $1,738,856 for flying 400 hours per year.
$9.5M quite a deal... but I'm betting $2M+/yr running costs.

MH0709 I’ve always assumed the 10% rule applies to price when new. I would assume a boat this big would be in the $25-35M ballpark when it was new, so running and crew costs would be in the $2.5-3.5M/yr area to keep it running at the same level it was when it was new. But I’m not in boating and I’m nowhere near an expert on this kind of stuff, so you could be absolutely right

It appears she has had 15-20m added astern?? When was this undertaken? Did Feadship have any hand in the lengthing of the vessel? Yes, I do agree, Feadship has the best fleet of vessels sailing the world today. Each one is an istant classic on the day of launch. Not only are they extraordinary sea worthy vessels, but they have the most beautiful hulls thanks to their classic flared bows. One rarely sees a Feadship being ferried to the Med or Caribbean like composition vessels.
Hi Cameron, thanks for watching. Well spotted. She had 5m added to the stern at the Pendennis shipyard in the UK. The work was authorised by Feadship and the reason that the work was done was that the owner wanted to add a jacuzzi tub to the sun deck. Jacuzzis can present stability issues to yachts, so it was advised that the vessel be lengthened. This was done in line with drawings supplied by Feadship. It also gave the opportunity to add a really cool lazarette/ dive centre in the transom.
Being a yacht broker myself, I have to say this is hands down, the best yacht presentation video I have ever seen. Love the footage and narration. Will this yacht be in close proximity to Monaco during MYS?

Interesting, but insulting, comment: "One stateroom is reserved for VIP guests." However, unlike many yachts of similar length, this appears to put a premium on space over the number of cabins - resulting a in true luxury experience. Obviously, this vessel is owned by people that do not have the intention to stay on it.
What 22 people could possibly vote this video/vessel thumbs down. Must just be someone who is just jealous of the few who can afford such boats. Always wonner why you hardly ever include the bridge? I guess owners don't care other than keeping the Captain happy?

Yachts For Sale ok great thank you. That is helpful. I’m hunting for a second hand 150 footer, Fed-ships (verbal) seem exceedingly pricy even the older ones. CRN seem just as capable if I’m not wrong.
this is beautiful, BUT, it is not an explorer. Good for calm waters and places like the Med in the right seasons. Very limiting. Basicly a big and expensive toy to show off with and no good for crossing oceans.
Hi Mathew, thanks for watching. I'd go easy on the "no good for crossing oceans"... she's crossed the Atlantic twice every year for the last 17 years and is about to cross again next week. I'd say she's proven her ability pretty well.
Yachts For Sale Yachts For Sale thanks for the info. How does it perform in heavy seas like up north in the Barents /Kara seas? I like feadship and am looking for a yard to build 45m plus yacht specifically for long range exploration off the usual yacht routes as it will be used for a lot of aid /community development work with the more remote islands and regions. Nordhavn are also good but to small and to slow. FPB would have been good for the first conversion prototype but sadly they have retired from building. Feadship builds a quality product but I'm not sure if they would build my custom design with the electric power system I want in it. Thanks again for putting me right on this yacht. The layout, size and internal finish is excellent and very close to what I need with a few modifications in the design, interior layout and also depends on the engine room size and positioning of the fuel. The yacht WIDER 150 you also featured is a yacht that technically ticks a lot of boxes, without the electric power source it currently uses as I have an alternative system we are currently working on. I would like to actually meet with sometime in April and have a chat with you as I believe you know a whole lot more about all the different builders and their capabilities. Maybe we could find he right match for a yacht that will be taking the propulsion of super yachts to a very different level.
