KEF LSX II - Is this small, mighty speaker a good purchase?

  • Today let's talk audio once again (because I love all things microphones, headphones and speakers). We're discussing my current Computer Setup speakers. Yes, I know it's overkill to have these bad boys as just computer speakers, but hey, I spend a lot of time at the computer!
    Let's talk on whether they are worth the high price, and even just the simple question - are they any good?

    KEF LSX II are amazing speakers. I have used them as PC speakers and cannot be happier. Although a bit expensive, they are worth it. I highly recommend them and suggest waiting for a sale.

      @@xenocyne You can use Optical or USB-C input on the speaker from your PC. There's also a 3.5mm analog input - though I'd try the others first.

    Nice sharing. Great speakers overall for the smaller spaces like on the bookcase or desk

    Really nice review. If you ever get a chance listen to the Sonus Faber Omnia. Although not a direct competitor to the lsx2 series, its the best sound wireless speakers ive ever heard. The sound is incredible.

    Thinking about getting some and pairing with a teeny discrete subwoofer in the Rel Tzero MKIII, hopefully that'll make them "oomf" closer to the larger wireless sibling

    I have had the KEF LS50 Wireless as my desktop speaker for 4 years now. Love them still and yes they are a bit big and overkill but perfect for my setup. The LSX did not exist when I purchased mine but they would probably be more practical for my PC/desk set up

    Comparison between these and your MM-1s? What inspired you to change it out?

    • @MarkKwak
      @MarkKwak  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The MM-1s are excellent for their size- so I had no complaints. I ended up getting the LSX II for my guest bedroom, but recently we moved my office to the guest bedroom, and it was just redundant to have both in the room, thus the LSX II (with the improved bass, they're just larger chambers) became the computer speakers. My wife now uses the MM-1s on her setup.

      @@MarkKwak How do these compare to the MM-1s? I recently downsized to the MM-1s because of their form factor and beautiful stereo imaging. Kef has been on my radar for a while.

    I compared these to LS50 Wireless iis and bass isnt 2x better....you can crank those up a lot louder. LSX 2s are amazing, they are event able to fill my medium living room. These speakers are incredible...i had Audioengine 5+ for a long time and these blow those away in every department. These are great at TV speakers. These are regularly on sale for $999

    Power consumption as main desktop audio system would be a consideration in view of the price of electricity. Do these speakers have auto detect signal feature to turn on?. Do they turn off when no signal is detected after a certain period?

    I have had lsx 2 since last November . The speaker sounded incredibly ( boringly)flat initially despite it resolving all the instruments so good. So i had to engage the Apple Music equaliser a tad bit to make it less HDR like where you hear everything on the same plane, especially the vocals (anything in a broad span around the 1khz got way more pronounced than it should) . Not satisfied i had to subscribe to Roon to get a more pro parametric EQ . Around three months in ,the vocals and the mid frequencies just opened up even more making it not an ‘ audiophile experience’ . The drivers are solid yet the DSP built in by the engineers gives it a forced in unnatural ‘ flat ‘ response that falls way below its price tag unfortunately.
