  • Ghost Stories from Pluckley - Is it still haunted?. In 1989, Pluckey in Kent gained an entry into the Guiness Book of World Records as being the most haunted village in Britain. I take a walk around this quaint English village and seek out the locations of some of the hauntings. Will I freak myself out?
It is said that bewteen 12 to 15 ghost sightings have been confirmed over the years. Do you have your own ghost story of Pluckey? Drop me a comment in the video description.

Thanks for this interesting tour. Personally I’m not so sceptical. My wife used to work in a pharmacy in an old building in north London. When she had to go down to the basement stockroom she sensed a presence which made her nervous and so she would always announce that she was coming in before entering the room. She never saw or heard anything. But one day, one of her colleagues was tasked with tidying up the basement. While she was doing so she distinctly heard a voice in the room saying to her “that’s a good girl”. This freaked out out a little and she asked the presence to leave. On another occasion a different colleague was surprised to go down to the basement and see a old man in a white coat sitting on a sofa. When she described him later, she was told that he was the previous owner of the pharmacy who had died many years previously. Apparently he was a much respected figure who loved his job and also lived in the building. Most of his customers thought he was much better than their doctors when it came to sorting out their ailments.

That is so interesting. While I've never seen anything, or heard anything for that matter, I have felt a presence which caused the old goosebumps. Two particular locations were Dunotter Castle in Aberdeenshire and Bolsover Castle in Derbyshire. On both occasions I was alone with only a view other tourists dotted around the sites, and I distinctly felt I was being watched. It was so eerie. I've never revisted those places :-)

I have lived in Pluckley for 25 years and can honestly say I’ve never seen anything remotely ghostly. What I have experienced is strangers trespassing on my property at unholy hours, vandalism, rubbish and human waste scattered in the so called screaming woods, illegal raves, camping and fires, many cars planted in the hedgerows as a result of speeding and needles and condoms strewn around the woodland car park.

I saw ghost of my great-grandma. It was in 2015 I think. Me and my girlfriend sleep and I awake from very cold in room. It was at May, but I feel it like at freezing like at winter really. I awake and check my window, it was closed. And then I come to bed and feel something near me, I turn my head and see this ghost. It was a ghost in white, it was creepy, she just stood and looked, I was beside myself with horror. It was a few days before the funeral, the most interesting thing is that I had to attend, the next day my relatives call me and say that the funeral is being postponed and I cannot attend there, because of work, that’s the story. Several years ago, I had seen a program by Chris Halton entitled England's Most Haunted Village featuring Pluckley, and I was very impressed. It's great to see Tudor Smith's video of that same area.
He gives a most entertaining tour of the points of interest. I would like to personally make a visit there someday. Great job!

It’s funny when things are right on your doorstep you take it for granted. I’ve driven through Pluckley all my life (I’m 49) and heard so many stories but never walked around much. Have been in the pub, went to weddings at the church, and a friend lived there, but if you’re not looking, would you notice unless it was very obvious?! It’s a pretty place and the Deering windows are a treat, such a local Pluckley trait. Smarden is where a lot of my 10 uncles and aunts are from and that’s haunted too apparently. Little Chart too is supposed to have spirits roaming. Interesting land. Very interesting video and I’m very interested in your photography so thank you for this 😊

I know Pluckley quite well having worked nearby, visited and walked/driven through many times. I personally have never seen nor heard anything although on one occasion driving through one night, I had an overbearing sense of darkness. That being said I might have let my mind go wandering whilst driving through 🤣

This was a fascinating, informative, paranormal walking tour of Pluckley Village. The woods had quite an odd vibe. I don't think I could visit that area at night either. Thank you for sharing it! I'm Australian and vividly remember watching an amazing show called 'Strange but True' in the 90s, hosted by the wonderful Michael Aspel. They interviewed the locals about all the hauntings that have occurred in the village for decades. Some of the stories were very eerie indeed. Pluckley looks like a beautiful, scenic village. Yet, this region obviously has a rich, supernatural history too. It's definitely on my bucket list of paranormal places to visit.☮️

@@TudorSmith I'll have to watch your Tudor Travels channel and look out for the Dover Castle video.! I must visit those haunted castles you mentioned on my next visit to the UK. I'm fascinated with the paranormal and I love your beautiful, heritage listed castles and buildings. Last time I visited England I went to Blenheim Palace and Hampton Court Palace. BP was visually stunning and had a lovely, warm vibe. Although HCP was an amazing, architectural masterpiece, it had the most foreboding, creepy atmosphere..It was the middle of the day when I visited too, so I'd hate to go there at night. I believe Hampton Court is probably haunted by Henry VIII and poor Anne Boleyn. I'd also like to visit Anne's ancestoral home - Hever castle. Too many castles and soo little time, I'd need a year in the UK to visit them all! 😁

I hadn't known at the time of Pluckley's reputation, however around 25 years' ago on our way to Pluckley train station, my husband and I both saw a small coloured car approaching a small hump bridge, we held back to let it over, but it never appeared. We both said to one another, where did that car go. To this day, it's the only ghostly experience we've encountered but it was very odd as we both agreed on it's colour and make and that there was nowhere else for the car to go. Interesting that it appears nobody else encountered this happening.

I can be sceptical about paranormal activity, but after everything I have seen and witnessed then after trying to debunk everything then as much as you don’t want to believe, then paranormal happens, 1st time was as a 12 year old I sometimes had a feeling of being watched by unseen eyes, later on I found out that a young girl was hit by a car in the road and unfortunately died in the house, I’d be walking the dog up a lane, and even in the afternoon I felt uneasy, I worked and still work in buildings that have paranormal going on, one was the most beautiful building however, some mornings I would walk in it felt like I didn’t belong there, almost like I was intruding on the past, dark shadows, being watched by unseen eyes 👀, heard footsteps and disembodied voices, felt cold spots and even seen a full bodied apparition, I went to see if I could help him, however when I got there, didn’t see him anywhere

Other than that we never encountered anything out of the ordinary...although will return at random times later. Sadly people do turn up in the car park late and do whatever they are doing and spoil it. Highwaymans corner is only 300 yards down the road...again saw nothing....me neither sceptic or believer.

I caught your comment on one of the Liverpool Beatles walkabouts on the Maybrick character, who may or may not have been Jack the Ripper. I would love to see you do a visit to the London of Jack the Ripper and associated canonical murder sites. Your comments and take on the terrible events in 1888 would be interesting as you already have some knowledge I guess. Keep up the good work, 'you're all doing very well', as Young Mr Grace would say...

I’ve always had a fascination with JtR and my opinions of the suspect have changed over the years. Bruce Robinsons book of 2015 (They All Love Jack) seems to me to provide the most conclusive evidence to date. I suspect all ripperologists debunk James and Michael Maybrick just because they have made there minds up. If any official documentation comes to light (and I bet there are many no one has seen) then we’ll eventually get the answer.
Two of the London location of the canonical five have been redeveloped but it could still make for an interesting video

Clapham Woods in Sussex had a reputation for the dark occult until the hurricane of 1987. I read the carrying on's were very real. Not only animals going missing but people murdered too, including a vicar and an investigating police officer. I read that the insane people of that cult relocated and a lot of wiccans etc spent time clearing bad spirits.
However, I also read that some locals used to deliberately place ooparts around and speakers in trees.
All that said, Lewes in Sussex is also reputed to have members of dark occult groups.
For entertainment, the yt channel Ray's Ghost Stories is good.

@@TudorSmith Almost certainly. Mind, Clapham Woods does seem to have deserved the bad reputation until the Hurricane of 1987 reportedly blew away their hidden den, supposedly at the back of an old church. I have never read of anywhere else where there have been such relatively recent reports and murders, which were in the news. I won't go into more of what I read over time as there is already a lot online. I don't doubt much of it is rooted in fact. I don't know how effictive the spooky stuff was but those who are insane enough to believe in it do so as far as fundamentalists, and some of them are said to be very powerful people in public positions. Considering the Jimmy Savile type and many more similar, I believe a lot of it is likely to have a lot of truth to it. May not ghosts and gouls but the dark occult practises of those who believe in them and think they are conjuring them up. Look at all the powerful people Savile went with. I don't mean they specifically were involved at Clapham Woods that sort. Insane and very dangerous although covered up for by others including in MSM. Those who have tried to expose them being stopped.

makes me laugh that ghosts only come out at night, so even tho they are dead and it is only a spirit or soul that is present. they still have a concept of time, i remember the story of a couple who stayed in a hotel and before they checked in, they were told that their room was the most haunted in the hotel, they had a horrible stay, noises, things moving, bumping banging etc...the following week a couple stayed in the same room they had a lovely weekend, loved the room had a great stay, but were told it was haunted AFTER their stay. strange that eh ?

In 2014 I visited Pluckly with my Niece (then 16), it was during Autum If I remember rightly. We spent a little time in tje Black Horse and then rolled in a group of people claiming to be ghost hunting. I hadlittle faith of seeing anything and thought they wete a group of weirdos. We agreed to join them, I thought well it would be a laugh. We walked around and then to the Lych gate. They decided to hols a seance there, at first I said no as I did not think it was right, but then I agreed. We all joined hands (I was trying not to laugh), It wad dark but there was just enough light to make out shaped once your eyes adjusyed. laugh). My Niece Kate kept whispering to me for my torch and was clearly unsettled. I told her to be wuiet and ignored her. After I spoke to her in private, meaning to tick her off for keeping 1:21 on about a torch. It was then that she said she daw a small dog curled up between us. I believed her as I know her well but thought fear had caused her to imagine it, it was then that we returned to the group an one of them, I think his name was Andy said there was a small dog there in the centre. We both nearly melted in our shoes.
From our previous visit I also have a photo (which I am happy to share), of a white/grey list above one of the graves. I took this myself. I had taken about 50 photos walking round in the dark using flash. The night was clear with no mist. It is important to say that I don’t smoke so no it wad not smoke. And thinking it could have been my own breath tried to reproduce this on many other trips with the same cameta. It is also worth mrntioning that as it was dark I could not see my viewfinder so was holding the camera away from my face. Not my breath.
