It's actually a good thing that the glue joint failed because I'll always remember this instructional video. I learned something. Glad you weren't hurt.
That was the best! Thank you. I needed to know how to remove a broken insert and the first minor failure was a great teaching tool and a good laugh. You're a great sport!
Well, you delivered on your promise; I did laugh out loud when the test failed. Like others, I appreciate your transparency. Also, this technique is going to save me over an hour of work as I thought I would have to remove the old T buried in a tight spot. No longer. Thank you!
I just used this trick and it saved me a trip to Lowe's. I pulled a trap fitting off, waited a bit then successfully glued a new one into place. THANKS!
I literally havent laughed my ass off in years and for that sir I say thank you! I have to unglue a fitting from a pool manifold tomorrow and will give the heat gun a try. Ill make sure to wait over 30 seconds before I crank it up tho ;)
I have a 1/2 inch with an end cap but only 1/4 inch is protruding from the wall.I figured i will cut the end cap to expose the inside of the end cap and apply this principle.I want to remove the end cap and replace it with an elbow.I will have to buy a bird beak pliers when stores open tomorrow.
After the "POP", I assume you went in to change your pants and then decided to put on a fresh shirt and puffy vest! Great video and always wear your safety googles.
Nice, what setting did you use on the heat gun ? Maybe one could use one of those adapters to reduce the diameter of the nozzle, like that the heat could be directed inside, although that would probably heat parts of the inside that we also don't want to heat up....
Acetone is the best idea for this job when if we just have acetone.. Any other method requires cutters .. clamps.. heating.. electricity..quite a mess..
Paul, I need to remove the outside of the joint. The 1/2” pipe is in the wall and I need to keep that. The 90 on the outside of the wall is what I need to revive and keep the inner 2” pipe cause there’s very little of it to put a new joint on anyway. Any ideas?
Sorry didn't see her question a year ago my suggestion be cut the 90° angle female is close to the pipe is possible hit the outside 90° remnant to 230° screw the outside of the right angle Residual it should peel easily off the original p v c pipe
Sorry about bad typing heat the joint Two two hundred thirty degrees check it with an infrared thermometer when it's hot score with a Box knife Be careful not to go down to the original p v c With the knife. While the Coupling is still hot and scored Maybe you can tease off the now soft ninety angle coupling Good luck
well, 2 hr is too much, but less than 20 seconds is too short . . .just give it 5 minutes at room temp of 70-75 F . . .if it's colder it could take more.
I couldn't believe that he had the heat gun running while opening the to cans containing flammable contents. Then followed that up with the pressure test, what an idiot. Obviously has never been around any industrial safety
Dude you have my respect for showing the air test failure in the video. Thanks for sharing the tip.
Most folks would edit the goofs out... thanks for leaving it in!!! Your reply to the fail is priceless.
It's actually a good thing that the glue joint failed because I'll always remember this instructional video. I learned something. Glad you weren't hurt.
This man is a real gentleman... I will bet that it never even crossed his mind to edit that part out.
The mishaps keep it real; makes me appreciate his effort even more.
That was excellent, a real guy doing real stuff to save other real guys time, thanks Paul!!!

I love that you didn't edit out the failure , ill use ypur method to separate my fittings next time, thanks

Good fun! Excellent information with an honest bang to let us know not to rush the work!
So glad he kept the exploding part in the video. I learned much
Appreciate your video, boss. Very useful. I also appreciate that your showed the initial failure of pressure test.
Paul thanks so much for your video. I had 2 pool fittings I wanted to reuse and your method worked great!
That was great presentation Paul.It was explosive mind info for sure.
I got a big chuckle from your video!! Thanks
You know a tip is good when you have to come back a second time a few years later.
Talk about LEGIT instructions! Lol
Failure is inevitable. Success is obtainable. Good vid sir.
I literally havent laughed my ass off in years and for that sir I say thank you! I have to unglue a fitting from a pool manifold tomorrow and will give the heat gun a try. Ill make sure to wait over 30 seconds before I crank it up tho ;)
Me too!!!!
Mr. Paul. Thanks a bunch for this awesome video. Going to try this tomorrow! Minus the explosion XD
You are definitely a man's man.. Thank you for sharing...
That was a good example why you should always wear safety glasses. Especially when working with compressed air.
Yea, 100lbs is way to much to test with, if that pipe failed, he'd be doing another video on removing PVC pipe from your face,
Did it and it worked like a charm, thanks man!
Bud, you had to know that was not going to be set up in 30 seconds. Thanks for the video.
Good video, thanks anybody else will editing the video, but this is good example to let a dry time.
Outstanding. You should make more vids. People will subscribe. Thx.
Thanks for the info and the chuckle!
Got to respect including the explosion. Looks cool on 0.25 speed :)
Straight up gangsta video. Thank you sir 🙏🏼
Hey Paul! Easy to do on a work bench. Show me how to do it while in the ground with little to no wiggle room!
Got it! Let the glue set first! Lesson learned!
That was awesome! You are just like us
Hahaha this was gold. Awesome video
Thanks man, good job!
That pop was FUNNY. Thanks

lol, damn. good thing you had some glasses on

i believe. yhe temp was about 230...infrared temperature gun is a must.
Thanks paul. Make some more video's
Looks easy like this, but what about hard-to-reach areas with not much working room?
that was soooooo cool exploding!!
Good tip but keep you fingers away from that cutter.
I need to do just the opposite, remove an outer fitting to a drain coming out of the wall. I'm going to give the heat gun a shot.
You have my respect also for failure and sucess
Outstanding!!!!!
Saw that one coming. It's best to wait at least 10 to 20 minutes.
Exciting lesson!
That was great! I do shit like that all the time.
Acetone is the best idea for this job when if we just have acetone..

What brand PVC cutter is that?
good one~

thanks man! good video...
Wear ear protection next time. You may lose your head from the explosion but at least you could hear people calling 911.
Nice... thank you.
PVC threaded into black pipe...........can't find any demos but I figured it out and its a secret.
Please make sure you hang into the 4:06 point of this video. Hilarious!!!!
Thanks for that
well done. You da man
Thank you
Yes but my fitting is inside the wall and I think everybody else’s fittings will be inside the wall
of all techniques to use, heat gun is by far simplest and easiest
Like. Keep doing videos, please.
well, 2 hr is too much, but less than 20 seconds is too short . . .just give it 5 minutes at room temp of 70-75 F . . .if it's colder it could take more.
You need a knife to scrape away the old glue
Fuck**g wonderful. Yay.
that was funny
Tnks but that 90 cost only 40 cents
yeah but 3" fittings cost a lot more.
love vids made with a damn cell phone...LOL LOL
You are dangerous! You use highly flammable glue around a heat source and the compressed air trick.?
I couldn't believe that he had the heat gun running while opening the to cans containing flammable contents. Then followed that up with the pressure test, what an idiot. Obviously has never been around any industrial safety
😂🤣
hahaha cool guy
Ill technique by an ill technician
great video , great idea !
thank you for sharing this video
