Dear Alexandra, since last week I'm binge watching your videos. I'm very much impressed. You're explaining extremely well. Now however I'm surprised about choosing my pattern size in relation to my shoulder width. Again your tip is logical but... my shoulders are really narrow and the rest of my body not. Bust and waist are big. Would you still choose the shoulder for start? Thank you for answering and love from Germany.

Another invaluable tutorial, thank you! Never thought of looking for bust size on a pattern.

Hi Alexandra, this is good video. I love how open and bright it is and how clearly you speak. I'm a beginner and I wish you would have shown us where to measure on an actual pattern when you were talking about measuring shoulder and hips. That would have been very helpful. Thanks!

Hi Alexandra, you explain so well in all your videos, but I have a question about the cup sizes. I´ve bought a set of slopers from a web site (includes 10 sizes) but I don´t know for which cup size they were designed. In several tutorials here on TH-cam, they say that cup B is standard, but how do I know? The bust dart depth increases on each size, if they were designed for a B cup, the depth of the dart would be the same? Is there some information about the dart depth and the cup size?

Hi Alexandra, I have watched several of you videos today and love the way you teach and the fact that you do not do the same old thing that other teachers do. I have one question though. In all the books it says to do length adjustments first from the bottom up and then width adjustments from the top down. I have a very full bust (F or G) so must have a large bust adjustment. I am also short and short-waisted so I need a length adjustment (both above and below the bust), so no regular pattern will fit me. My question is - in the above video you say to choose the pattern by your back shoulder width (a refreshing change from full bust measurement), then make the bust adjustment; should I do the length adjustments first?

Hi Margaret! Yes make the length adjustment first. I have a follow up video to this one here: www.inhousepatternsstudio.com/blog/quick-tips-for-patterns-that-fit-how-patterns-work that points out that I forgot to mention the CB neck to waist measurement which is actually very important. Hope that helps!

If bust girth is measured all around the body, why would you only change the front of the pattern to adjust it? For example, if you need 2 inches smaller, why would you do 1 inch off each side in the front, instead of 1/2 an inch on every side in the front and back for two inches total?

      J. Lee in the video I am referring to a cup size adjustment. If your cup size does not match the cup size of the pattern, the bust girth changes at the front only. If you are the same cup size as the pattern the adjustment would be made as you suggest.

@@AlexandraMorganInHousePatterns Okay, so you're saying that if your girth matches the pattern, but your full bust measurement does not, you would only change the front to adjust the cup. But if your girth does not match but the cup size is correct (meaning that if you are an a or b cup, the difference between bust and girth is 1 or 2 inches respectively), you change the girth by calculating the change in inches you need and distributing 1/4 of that all around?? Btw, thank you so much for even responding. I've learned way more from you than anyone else!!
