Glad to hear you got the diesel. I love mine. I have about 67k miles on mine and its been a pleasure to own. One note about the cost of oil changes and fuel filter changes. One major difference that isn't typically mentioned is you change oil in the diesel every 10k miles vs every 5k. So while it costs more, its 1/2 as often. Also, I change my own oil now so that cuts the cost even further and given where the oil filter and fuel filter are located (fuel filter change is every other oil change), its just too easy not to do yourself.
The other thing I like about the diesel is the range you get. Due to the tires I have chosen and the camper I use I still get about 23mpg meaning my range is over 400 road miles. So there is little need to carry extra fuel. But, if I do need to carry, I can easily place it in the jeep and not worry about fumes due to nature of diesel. So added benefit there.
I am sad they are apparently dropping diesel from the lineup due to governmental pressures to push electric. Diesel fuel is artificially being kept high while gas is pushed down likely due to midterm pressure. It will likely balance back out one common sense returns. I kind of think the weight of the diesel engine also creates a smoother ride. That one is hard to say because the last jeep I had was a JK and it well, it was a log wagon. I really hope I can make this jeep last forever because I dont see another engine option that can give me the range coupled with the same power. Its tempting not to just trade mine and get a '22 model before they are all gone.
Anyway, welcome to the jeep club and in particular the diesel jeep club!! Reach out to me if you are curious about my camper.. I think you would love it. Cheers!! Great video!

I have always been a fan of diesel myself and yeah I think it's because of quite a few issues that cause diesel to be way more, part of it is something I just caught on a news site that diesel production has been cut back so much that there is only a 25 day supply left in the us, still a lot of malarkey if I say so myself...
I did voice this to Edward over Instagram dm but I am tempted to get one of the caps for the fuel filter/water separator and reverse engineer it and make a few in aluminum to add security for offroading after seeing a few people have issues with cracking the cap and all

@@bajasoobnut yeah.. it’s by design and we will all pay the price for it… and not at the pump.. In our daily lives, literally everything we eat drink or buy is delivered via diesel truck train or delivery vehicle.. diesel is a symptom… bad policies are the cause.. and it’s intentional

The swerve/wandering is due to very poor steering box. Trust me I suffered with this for 18 months. Got progessively worse. Do youself a favor and get at the very least the psc hydro assist! You will love it. Front locker engaged I use 1 finger to turn the steering. Steering box is way beefier with psc. Ended up with steer smarts yeti XD track bar, tie rods and draglink. The OEM undersized steer box wore out all steering components prematurely. The upgrade is like a new offroad vehicle. Love your content Ed!

      @scratchnbell 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I have both. The JTR has a Smart cap on it. All my current jeeps are 3.6. I feel like they are different enough that one doesn't replace the other. When I got the JT I missed running around with the top off in the wrangler. The Sunrider is great but it is not the same. The 3.6 does everything I ask of it. I tow a large pontoon boat and about a 5,000 lbs RV with the gladiator. The rpm runs high towing but it does all I ask of it. Lots of people talk crap on the 3.6. I find it very peppy and even fun in both vehicles. It's not the diesel and it's not the 392 but it is tried and true.
Btw when I just grab a set of keys 75 percent of the time it is the JT.

Dude love your videos, have you thought about bringing a pet along with your videos, reason I ask is my Pet loves to watch overlanding videos with.

I have thought about it, but it does get tricky trying to film with my dog around (he loves to wander far off away if not kept an eye on). When I camp with Katie though, we love bringing our dog Bernie out

I'm really sorry to say this, but that chair you've got seems to be a new fangled version of an old man's rocking chair on a porch. Granted the view is much better, but dang it you're not that old! Lol!!!
Btw, this is coming from a 60 year old.

Great video but you look awfully lonely without your family around you.

I like the solo peaceful trips at time, but trips with family and friends are definitely what I'm looking forward to more of

Then it would be pointless to tune in
I usually play your videos while I’m working and just listen
Try some voice over I’m sure you can fill us in with some extra knowledge instead of so much dead air
      Just constructive criticism

I have noticed that men and women give me the Jeep wave ✌️🤙 a lot, but it’s mostly men who don’t.

Yeah, most women aren’t really into the Jeep wave thing. You’re not missing anything as I don’t know why that is either.

😂 You know, the Wrangler isn’t so small that you can’t have a fridge, stove, plenty of gear, real food and still be able to sleep in it.

Lol box shaped , Nah. The scion has a car that looks exactly like a toaster oven. Wranglers scream ""Outdoors Type""...!!! You see one parked somewhere your brain says ""Outdoors"" . The wave, ducks, and brotherhood is a Wrangler way of life. Another thing. I had a friend from high school who became a G.M. for a dealership. First thing he told me. Do not change a thing on your new jeep. He said leave it alone. It'll go anywhere you want to go as is. Jeep has been making them for over 79 years. They have perfected them. Don't lift it or change the tires . Leave it as is and it'll out live you. And he's actually right. Skinny tires go better than wide ones. And lifting it gives you 0% more traction or clearance. An inch or 2 isn't worth the stress on your jeep or the costs. Look at a lifted jeeps axel case versus a non lifted one surprise...!!! Looks vs Reality. At 6:11 something tells me you're a Techy kind of guy. Oh, you can buy your gifting ducks on Amazon. They come usually with lil message cards to attach.

yeah, it recall it being very sketchy when we saw the garbage there. This time around though, it was very well kept . I hope it stays that way for all of our sakes.

I know the lake. Try camping in area where the trail Don't run infront of you. The dust from other campers and fisherman going to ruin the experience..
