Hi, I'm left with a pair of Bose jewel cube, going to purchase a Smsl Sa300 and a Edifier T5 subwoofer. I'm not an audiophile but does anyone think this setup works? Going to place them in a 50sq room, I know they look cool but do they sound cool? Thanks
Everyone shits all over Blose, and I overall, I certainly won't argue. Notwithstanding, I think these provide an exceptional value when purchased these days on ebay. $75-125 for a clean pair, are hard to beat at that price point.
I'm not familiar with that amp or that little sub but both seem to have strong reviews. I'm curious how you approached the crossover piece of it but would love to hear what you think of it all if you ended up going in that direction! Sounds like potentially a killer little setup for a small den or office.

Many moons ago when I was naiver and stupider than I am today, I used to think Bose was "premium" audio equipment that put out "premium sound". At least they had a solid market back then, mainly women (wives, girlfriends..) who were impressed by all this trickery and wanted their men to buy them lifestyle systems. Bose made good money off the audio naive. Those days are long gone. Bose's decline began after Amar Bose died in 2011. Today it's run by some clueless chick who knows nothing about audio but the woke corporation made her CEO anyway. Sadly the end of Bose is in sight.
Floyd1504 look what I found in a Bose manual: _• Near the front edge of the shelf, if placed in an enclosed bookcase_ _• With one cube of each speaker aimed forward into the room and the other aimed at a side wall to create reflected sound_
Cant hear a thing youre saying, if i were you id take out the top drivers and replace them with tweeters, then they will sound amazing, full range drivers are horrid for high frequencies youre not hearing 25% of the music, why bose do this is beyond me.
That’s actually not how it works for what your not hearing Bose covers over 90% of the sound spectrum , there’s not much information above and below what the acoustimass systems are capable of producing
You note the treble falls off above 15k. Really. At my age I cant gear so high anyway. More seriously for such a small speaker I expected a comment about the (lack of ?) Bass ? As someone with a serious hi end audio system obviously I have no expectations from these : but Bose' marketting dept is so relentlessly hyped up about their amazing tech I was curious to see what the fuss was about but there is nothing here. Just a cheap small film range driver in a cheap very small ported box. You mention the accoustimass .. is that doing some kind of EQ? Or is just an (equally chappy too small) sub ?
Can you speak a little more quiet? I can still almost hear you over the music.
I always liked these little speakers. Great looking and sounding when properly set up with their matching Acoustimass module and controller.

What is the impedance and power handling of these speakers? I have 4 of them and i want to hook them up to a yamaha aventage 1060.
There 4 ohm five or take 30 w . Make sure you turn on the HPF
Dont do it, bose purposely put electronics in the amps to make these sound better, its fake sound controlled by digital DSP's
Not on the old ones . Mines extremely simple amp 2 band eq then out to the cubes
Also you can turn off the dsp it’s called adaptIQ it handles all the sound processing,

The Tech Guy mids at bottom tweeter at the top yes, should be easy enough to do with a 2.5" tweeter and fit a 2uF capacitor to the tweeter

I'm not sure why people think there is some eq . On the passive AM systems it's a crossover . That's about it
