Nothing negative. We get stronger as the stereotypes are swept away and these folks who want to be Canadian add their energy and love to our national fabric. We are a Nation of immigrants. My mom was Austrian, my Dad's family came from Ireland. My formerly Austrian Opa is the best Canadian I've ever known. He accepted all, withheld judgement for the unusual and embraced the concept that there is unity in diversity. The best of our many contributing cultures rises to the surface and we incorporate that into our national identity. I have traveled to lots of places and have seen their unique cultures and none of them were difficult to appricate for their strengths because I've seen the best they have to offer on display in my hometown. We are a Nation that has (by policy) embraced multiculturalism for decades now and we have risen to the top of the UN ratings for places to live because of it... I have no doubt that Canada changes people and their descendants who come here, but we are equally blessed that they change Canada too. Please don't allow Zenophobia to rule, the US and Canada share a heritage of being places of refuge for those seeking a better life, for those yearning for freedom and security so let's remember that because it's what made both our nations places that have thrived.
