According to the FBI there are over 1.6 million home invasions in the United States each year. Multiple armed assailants forcing their way into a home while occupied by the residents..... Can you guys please wait while I go get my protection out of the safe?!?! I don't think so! There have been numerous occasions where a teenager while home alone had to use a firearm to protect themselves from home invasions and attackers!

Bad Parenting at its finest! Arrest the Dad! But lots of things could have been done to prevent this. Even the FBI dropped the ball on this. If he threatened the school a year ago, he should have not been allowed back OR should have been closely monitored. For example, reporting to the resource officer every morning for a search. I don't care if that is invasive. 4 people are dead for no reason. 4 family's lives have changed forever. So sad.

Our American public schools are having a difficult time finding and affording bus drivers. How are they going to afford more Police protection when they can't even afford to get the students to school.

Nope, superintendents need to take a pay cut, as a start. Some in my area make upwards of $600,000/yr. Government wasteful spending and corruption has infected the public school system, like everything else. They beg and beg for higher taxes and steal more money, but it'll never be enough. Schools need to quit providing three free meals a day for each kid, even in the summer. Get rid of all day preschool and quit providing free day care for ill eagles who's children don't even speak English. These are only a few examples. Put some responsibility back on the parents and make them take part in raising their own children. Trim the fat, and they'll have more than enough money for what's important. Better yet, put education back into the hands of each state rather than the Feds.

It's a legal matter. The news outlets say Allegedly because legally in the US, you are innocent until proven guilty, and they must say that to both avoid being sued for defamation in the event the suspect is found innocent and to remain at least somewhat impartial in their job.
A follow up story on the legal differences and charging a 14 year old in both juvenile court and trying him as an adult in this state would be a significant judicial story.

Research shows 400+ million guns in civilian hands in the USA, and this number outweighs the total estimated population of around 330 million people.
Basically there are enough guns for every single person in the USA to have at least one gun…
Expand on the notion that 330million represents the total population NOT just civilians and NOT just adults…
The Pew Research Center estimates that there are around 77 million adult civilian gun owners in the USA. So 400m guns divided by 77m civilian firearm owners = 5.19 guns per each person… That’s a lot in my opinion, and if I expand on that it begs the question “what does the actual distribution of those weapons look like?”
Geographically, almost 50% in rural areas for hunters and enthusiasts alike, then less than 20% in urban areas where safety is the main priority for gun owners. Then some in between, obviously lol
As a person who does not own a firearm a lack of education on it shapes my perspective. Are guns bad bc they’re inherently dangerous or do I think guns are dangerous because uneducated gun enthusiasts don’t respect the intricacies of the weapon? If my preconceived notion is that guns are dangerous, scary, and having many is unnecessary then I’m negating gun use in the form of a hobby. Like it or not, accomplishing consistency in regards to gun use like accuracy, safety, kickback, and other intricacies can be a hobby. What comes to mind for me is video games. Each gun “mastered” is a new level and to make it through the levels I need practice, experience points, to assess my strengths and weaknesses, apply different add-ons to enhance my techniques and further my skills etc.
I don’t think I should choose to stay closed minded because of fear, however other fear inducing factors need to be addressed like how there was another school shooting in FL yesterday, Wednesday 9/4/24, by a 14yo white male classmate. Another child who took the lives of two teachers and two children using a gun found in the home. This is what brings mental health checks, inferior safety precautions, and lack of accountability for those decisions to the forefront of the mind.
I’m not against guns, I’m against the rhetoric behind the slogan of “gun control” because it’s a misrepresentation of what the fear based concerns are actually looking to alleviate.
Basically, its not about taking away anyone’s guns, rather, it’s about holding idiots accountable when they’re irresponsible with them. Stupid gun users give respectable gun enthusiasts a bad reputation, and the slogan should pitch that message instead. Gun control sounds just as stupid to me as the reaction it warrants; “Don’t take my things! It’s my right to own it! They’re mine to control, not yours!”

If a child makes a treat to shoot up a school, they should lose all rights to an education. School can require clear backpacks, but honestly, if they want to get a gun in, they will. If this child made treats and his father failed to get him mental help, he should be held just as responsible for this crime as his son. Where did he get the weapon from?

Kids of this age often get carried away when they’re having fun at another student’s expense. Teachers also seem to connect more to the students who talk the most, which sometimes is the bully of a few kids. If kids will crap on you for not wasting your parent’s money on Jordans like everyone else, imagine what else they say/do when they go for the proverbial jugular.

Also interesting how federal and state grant funding for schools are determined by test scores, and if those scores aren’t average or above then you’ll lose funding to that district🥲🙃🔫 The funds are prioritized by a reward system where better scores get better funding, but what about

If your kids are having trouble with those tests and scores look poor, then you can bet those teachers are getting pressured to pass some kids along to secure that grant money.
