    I know this is old but thanks for posting, I’ve been looking for a trailer that would handle 30yd dumpsters, looks like ProTainer may be the way to go.

    • @CFLDumpsters
      @CFLDumpsters  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No trailer will handle 30 yds, the can by itself is 6500-7000 lbs and then with trash in it you will easily go over weight on a trailer.

    I feel like a single axle hooklift would be cheaper then your current truck/trailer combo. I got my first hook lift for 17k with 5 cans. Have put about 150k miles on it with minimal issues. Do your cans work with any roll off truck or only the trailer you have? Would be next to impossible to sell your cans when you're done with them if they only fit that trailer specifically.

      That's a nice question. I been doing roll off as a driver here in houston. With a class b truck. I wonder if this job is worth it. I know my boss charge like a minimum of 650 for a 40 yard class b truck.

    Get yourself a 4in PVC pipe that's a little wider than your dumpsters. Screw your hand tarp to it and it makes for a faster roll out and roll up. It's how we do 30 yds around here if the auto tarp is broken

    How much do you make profit say on the 1st one if he didn't go over weight after dump fee? Curious what you charge and time out into each job I'd guess 3 hrs or so on average.. I'm a landscaper in OK, looking to diversify my businesses and move into rolloffs. Btw that rolloff was parked in a damn tight spot on the job in this video. Good job getting in and out with minimal footprint on his yard!

    I was looking at that setup vs a hooklift setup for a f450/f550. Looks like with the trailer system if you have a dually, you are usually going to be over 26,000 lbs. I would guess yours is? How does that complicate insurance costs, DOT registration, etc.? Already have cdl. I was thinking it would be much less complicated to hire people if they don't require cdl.

    • @CFLDumpsters
      @CFLDumpsters  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You’re right, it is less complicated to hire folks without needing a CDL. But it will depend on your plans going forward. Mine are to run commercial so I chose this set up. If you want to mainly run residential, junk haul jobs and contractors like roofing, drywall etc you should be good with a shorter trailer and shorter cans. I plan to transition to a truck sooner than later. If your hauling over 10k you need a CDL anyway, so you may have to get drivers with a cdl regardless. Insurance on a truck and trailer set up is cheaper than a truck. DOT check with your state it’s not a huge deal pay a fee get your number etc also check for DNR also.

    • @hb7099
      @hb7099 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don’t need CDL hauling over 10,000 you only need Heath card. Once you go over 26,001 you need CDL.

      Do your market research diligently, and make a business plan with projections into 5 years. Once you account for all costs then jump. Know enough to be confident, that way it’s a calculated risk. If you can start with a truck over a trailer based Roll off. Absolutely unequivocally start with standard rails 36 inch outside rail to outside rail, that way you won’t have to rebuy cans and equipment when you move up to bigger equipment.

    Where can you order these dumpsters and trailer to pull with your pickup?

  • @davidc5808
    @davidc5808 ปีที่แล้ว

    Quick question... Do you know if landfills care about your gvwr or enforce any kind of DOT rules... For example if my trailer gvwr is 9990lbs but my axles are rated for 14k lbs and my overall trailer weight is 15k lbs with trash would the landfill stop me and report me or do they not care about how much I weigh?

    • @CFLDumpsters
      @CFLDumpsters  ปีที่แล้ว

      DOT does hang around the scales and they will pull folks at random sometimes 2-3 in a row. The GVWR is what the vehicle is rated for not what it’s actual hauling, the landfill/transfer station has no interest in how much you are over weight. They make money on the tonnage you’re dumping, I doubt they would want to run their customers off by calling or reporting to DOT /FHP. I know you are just asking a question for info sake, but it’s really not smart to haul over rated weights, it’s not the hauling it’s the stopping that is the issue. Also, every bump, railroad crossing etc with exceeded weight causes a multiple on stress points. It’s just not worth it and it’s dangerous.

    I’m looking to buy a new roll off trailer, I’m going with a goose neck style. Would you suggest 14,16,18 or 20ft. The 18 and 20 come with 2-12k axles, the 14-16 have 2-10k axles. Just wondering if length is a issue. I’m looking to do mostly residential haul offs. Just trying to get your opinion.

    • @CFLDumpsters
      @CFLDumpsters  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on what you want to do, residential or commercial? What are your long term goals? Also there are only two manufacturers I would go with nedland or Protainer in that order and wait times are 12-20 weeks on trailers cans are the same and have almost doubled in price. Length can be an issue at times. Stay away from Texas pride, u dump and a few others, if you go that route buy a good welder and spare parts. Gooseneck is the way to go if you want to haul weight. • @CFLDumpsters
      @CFLDumpsters  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s not so much the truck as it is the trailer. The truck handles hauling ok, it’s the stopping that becomes the issue. I’ve hauled 31k+ and the brakes are pushing limits. I use my exhaust and tow/haul plus trailer brakes and believe me when I tell ya I need all 3 with that much weight. Also 16k roll off trailer effective tonage in the can is 3-3.5 tons. You have to take away the weight of the trailer and the can and you left with your effective tonage. So my trailer is 6k lbs by itself, 4k per empty can so my effective hauling capacity is 5-6 tons. On a 16k trailer, trailer is 4500-5000 lbs and empty 20 is 3500-4000 so call it 9k your effective tonage is 3-3.5 tons total. So yes the 650 will haul a lot, but brakes and trailer will limit how much to be safe.
