Bro i genuinely love you, I recently started using gen 9 characters and my standard workflow of retargeting with rokoko was causing so much distortion, thank you so much for this method
Good info, thanks for the tutorial. I used the first version of diffeo back in the day, but I had no idea they'd taken it this far. I will have to check it out.
Do you mean that the clothes don't follow at all or they don't have dforce like effects? Are all the clothes parented to the character in Daz Studio? Are the paths to those assets listed in the global settings for the Blender plugin?
after retargeting the animation, the keyframes disappear. so if i want to move the keyframes in timeline then its not possible because of this issue. how to fix it?
Great tutorial! Any suggestions on how to have other imported rigs follow the character? The animation loads correctly on the main rig, but all of the child objects (hair, clothing, body parts) stay in place and are seemingly disconnected.
The only way I have reproduced this issue is if these other items are not parented to the main character in Daz Studio before exporting. They may appear to be part of the character but they are not. If this is the issue, make sure you have the character selected when you add each item to it. It should then be nested under the character in the Scene outliner. Alternatively, you can right click each item after the fact and select Fit "" to and select the Genesis character. If already in Blender, you can select each rig with the main rig being last (making it the active selection) then selecting "Merge Rigs" in the Corrections section of the Daz Setup menu.
I've found it best to remove the old version first, quit Blender, then install the new version. You might be fine to just remove the addon from the preferences menu within Blender. But be sure to quit and open Blender again.
In the Daz Runtime tab in Blender, under Posing, you should be able to Import Pose or Import Action. Those buttons will have you browse to the file for the pose/action you want to use from Daz Studio. Actions would be more for animations.
Very good... is it possible to us facs expressions in blender with diffeomorphic?because I have trouble using the facs expression with my rig when I try to create a keyframe with it. thank you in advance for your help
@@W3-productions Okay, thanks for the clarification. It works for my g8.1 in blender 4.2. I imported the facs and expressions but I would like to save them in pose library but it doesn't work for both, their keyframes only work when I'm in object mode. once you enter pose mode, the expressions are displayed but the keys do not enter
hello friend. Interesting tutorial, however I have a little problem. I execute all the steps and even finish my animation, then I save my character however when I add it in my new scene and when I change this location, when I press (play) it returns to this location initial... what to do? THANKS
Hello, I want to animate the crowd which are Daz 3D characters (Genesis 8 and Genesis 9) and with Daz 3D animations in Unreal Engine. How to? Retargetting Unreal animation on Daz Character is working but how to apply Daz animations (Multiple Animations) on multiple Daz characters in single project? Please Reply
I haven't tried very often as my machine hasn't handled more than 11 characters I'm Blender. I can't imagine my machine could do the same in UE. I am about to tryout a blender addon I bought. Procedural crowds from the blender market. They will have less definition but you can get a lot of them and I THINK you can do custom animations. Not sure yet. Then you would export to UE
Thanks for the tutorial, I think it is the most recent one which deals with import of animations!😍 I'm using Blender 4.2 with the related Diffeomorphic version, and have a tip and a question 😉 First the tip: When trying to import an fbx animation, I got the error bpy.ops.object.select_all.poll() failed. After a bit of fiddling around I found out that the error doesn't occur when I uncheck "Delete FBX Objects" - where I anyway don't know, which object is meant. Now the question: I did everything as you've shown in your tutorial, but I just get one frame imported. Any ideas?
Thanks for the tip. When importing an animation what type of animation is it or what is the source. Also I may alternate between directly retargeting the animation to the character or importing the FBX then retartgeting after. For some reason one method works one day and the other on another day.
@@W3-productions Thanks for coming back to my question! I tried to follow exactly your example and exported an animation from mixamo. Do I need to be in Blender posing mode or do I have to select something specific, which isn't explicitly mentioned in your tutorial (I'm new to animation in Blender, and every little step may help ;)
It would depend. Does the generic Genesis 1/2/3/9 character transfer okay? Are there special morphs or geografts attached to the face? In that case, the location of that morph or geograft may be in a file location that is not listed in the importer's Daz library paths. What happens with the face: is the face mesh missing or just the textures for it?
For Genesis 9, wouldn't you want to Export HD to Blender? I'm not an expert or anything, but you'd lose detail by doing just the regular export to Blender, no? Or did you just do that for the sake of speed?
Good point. I did the regular export for the sake of speed and performance, especially with some of the other things I would have running in the background.
Correct. My mistake. Even when I reinstall the plugin, that part always seems to take care of it self because I had prior installations and saved the file.

Glad this helped. I use Perception Neuron sometimes. There are still going to be some situations where cleanup will be necessary.
@@W3-productions definitely the animation layers in blender helps me do most cleanup
The autorig pro method had feet sliding.. Was a pain, if you have a solution for that please share.. But this bvh one seems pretty straight foward

Thanks. I was especially excited about the Retargeter. I didn't realize they added FBX to it.
its pretty ahhhmazing and slap on some MustardUI and it really completes the package.
Thanks for the tutorial. Excellent pacing and well done.
Thanks. I'm glad it was useful and pleasant.
Thanks for the update. I thought something was broken when I opened up Blender 4.1
Yeah, same here. I was waiting -impatiently- patiently when I heard that the new version was coming soon.
Everything works good. Just one problem when importing character from daz3d to blender via this addon Clothes are not moving with body. Any solution?

There is still some foot sliding can you help advice how to fix that?

Not sure if I have seen this. Are there still no keyframes if you select all the bones?
Sometimes I've had to try twice to apply.

Do you get the JSON error for loading the character into Blender or when using it with Auto Rig Pro?
@user-PayWorld glad it worked out. A lot of my path settings carried over from previous versions of Blender.
Wow this video is gold
Glad it was helpful. At first I wasn't sure if it would be useful.

Yes, I use them all the time with keyframes. Are you using a Genesis 8 or 9 character. I believe FACs are not compatible with Genesis 1-3.

Diffeo Is the Way!
It takes a different type of person to keep up development on something like this for free.

One thing you could try is parenting the armature to an empty and move the empty around.

One of the following resolved my problem: I didn't reduce the playrange of the animation and forgot to set the source and target rig.
@JonDohnson glad it worked out. I'd guess it was the latter. Sometimes the source and target will automatically set but I guess Sometimes it won't.

Is this after applying a FBX animation? Where does the animation come from?
