I've always said it. They claim that "no, because toxicity..."; "if they behave like that in chat, imagine in voice chat"... And 1st, that's easily avoidable. You can still mute whoever is being toxic. But 2nd and most important, I'm pretty confident that it would be actually harder for most people to be toxic in voice chat. The anonymity is bigger in text than it's in voice. They would feel more exposed and that's why I think voice chat would be much less toxic than text chat. (I hope my English is clear 😅)
I feel like as long as you sound like a man this is true, but if you have a feminine voice everything gets worse (coming from experience of having a rather androgynous voice, in games with voice chat 75% of matches devolve into my team telling me to perform sexual favours, or to go back to the kitchen, no matter how well I'm playing). I agree the anonymity makes the toxic people bolder, but it also means there's nothing to 'pick on' (accent - race, pitch - gender, perceived intelligence etc)
These games are so fun it actually made me love League of Legends again. There are SO many things that would never be possible without comms. Be sure to watch the WHOLE video and let me know in the replies if you think they should put comms in League of Legends
this exists in dota 2, but most people have premuted everyone and dont want it. Its easier to talk bad and they cant verify abuse with voice. maybe in High Elo Diamond or more it could be viable i guess.
This stuff is absolutely fantastic, yes more of this. To your point at the start, though: yeah, communication is absolutely key in a team-play game. The only problem is when you get people who think they're the next Faker in voice coms. You can have hundreds of good (even great) games with people, but human nature is gonna make you remember that one ass-hat that one time and keep you out of voice forever because of them. I have zero clue on how to deal with that.
You remember how league had in-built voice comms, right? It's actually still built-in I think. But no one uses it and you can guess how people would be if they did use it.
@@i0kiVidsremember there used to be a plug-in where everybody would automatically join a voice comm. That thing was awesome. Then rito banned it because who knows why.
Yeah, honestly having coms makes everyone less stressed cause you ain't gotta argue through pings, or trying to type mid game or anything like that. There will always be losers, but I truly believe that much of the frustration in League comes from lack of communication + staying on the same page. Have you ever seen your jungler make an idiotic play and just be like "WHAT IS MY JUNGLER DOING?!" well I promise you he's saying the same about you.

It's not necessarily League or Riot but the newer player base for the last few years + treating the game like its call of duty throwing any and all team work out the window
playing league in a full stack is great i wish i got to do it more often i used to play r6 siege a lot and i want to get back into it but its just so miserable soloq because talking is SOOOOO important in that game, and most of the players pretend they dont have a microphone it sucks. league soloq is at least tolerable cause you at least have the minimap to give you information from your teammates
But this is biased. Those who already formed a discord call likely have some sort of rapport and coordination. Perhaps even a type of social behavior expected in typical public analog settings. They further shared this through league’s in-game client messaging UI. This act in and of itself imparts a social contract of goodwill and intent to be participative. People who do these things are not often doing so to be disruptive or “troll.” Opening every match and every player to ALL COMMs is not inherently going to produce a similar effect. In a research setting, you could have an experiment (A) with 100 premade discord groups (5 members) compared to 100 random league groups. You could then have another experiment (B) with partially premade discord groups (1-5 members) and share the link in-game. Then compare all results.
yea comms is broken in games, when i played Apex Legends, since I have no gaming buddies I always solo queued, and nobody talks or has comms when randomly matched, but when people were triple stacked they were calling shots and positions, its like a third sense that solo players don't get, its like cheating. The games need to either make solo play as an option, or they have to include comms mandatorily into their games to make it even, otherwise stocked teams are basically cheating. How does a "Rank" measure your ability to play a game, when worse players can team up and outplay better players because of comms, that not an accurate measure of individual ability within the game.
Had a bad surgery 2 years ago to fix some breathing issues and it caused all kinds of new ones. I have constant blockage, nasal collapse, and symptoms of ENS where I can't really detect air coming in as well as I should be able to.
@i0kiVids Isn't the point of soloq about individualism, and each person being responsible for carrying? Flex is where you have comms and can work together with the other four people you've queued with? From what I've gathered, soloq climbing is supposed to be an art, an expression of skill and dedication in and of itself. These are genuine questions, not rhetorical. I'm relatively new to the game, having only started playing at the start of split 2 of season 13. I haven't been able to break out of Bronze. Everytime I am a game away from silver 4, I get put into a series of games with silver 3 and 4 players on bad loss streaks, and it feels like no matter how well I play, our top/mid gets absolutely destroyed, and there is nothing I can do being 2-4 levels behind the enemy top/mid. I always decline surrenders, but so many games I get out-voted at the 15min mark, or the next vote after that. Sooo. . . I haven't figured out the secret to soloq myself.
@@iratevagabond204 Communication and shotcalling and ability to work as a team is still an individual skill that carries from game to game, even though you're getting new teammates every game.
