A long time ago, I saw a flat diamond from the Romanov jewel exhibit and it stated that it was the most expensive diamond in the collection. It was a 60 carat flat diamond.
Rose cuts are a very old and beautiful cut! If you look at rings from before the mid-late 20th century you're going to see pretty much exclusively old mine, old European, and rose cut diamonds. Such a classic and timeless cut, so different from the modern brilliant cut beauty standard.
I just found a pin that belonged to my Grandmother in a bunch of her costume stuff. It has 8 beautiful rose cut diamonds that I am so excited to use. They are beautiful!
Only if there is inclusions(fractures ) inside the stone.. these man made diamonds won't have as many inclusions therefore won't be prone to breakage...
It would be a good idea probably if they bezel set it that would save the thin edges from damage if it gets banged against something or do a partial bezel setting and that way light can still reach the stone under it.
@@crossbowskissthat’s not entirely true. The distinctness of a diamonds cleavage is what determines whether or not it’s going to chip, fracture etc. This is for ALL diamonds. Inclusions just make it easier, but a flawless diamond can break just as easily… even against something as simple as a doorknob. This is a genuine problem happening worldwide that affects customers on the daily. This applies for Lab diamonds just as much as natural ones. You want to know something that no diamond manufacturer is going to tell you? Moissanite is overall more durable than Diamonds. Your Moissanite is 10x more likely to last a lifetime. Moissanite’s don’t have a distinct cleavage whatsoever. The chances of a moissanite fracturing is rare, even when hit at the right angles. Moissanite are a 9.5 on MOHS scale (second hardest gemstone in the world), and anything above 9.25 is entirely resistant to being scratched by your environment. Therefore, although a diamond is a 10 on the MOHS scale, they perform the exact same in that regard. Overall, just like a diamond, your moissanite WILL NEVER become scratched. Even better, Moissanite’s indistinct cleavage makes it much harder to fracture, yet on the other hand diamonds are INCREDIBLY susceptible to fracturing. Therefore, Moissanite is 100% more durable than Diamonds. Oh, and a fun fact- Moissanite has the highest refractive index of any gemstone on the planet. It shines brighter than the rainbow itself. It also has a unique double refractive property.
Could you use that thin cushion to magnify the lower stone? I could see that being a neat way to protect a small, but VERY high quality opal, letting uou get a truly good look at the color play!
The cut already make it useless as magnification stone. cushion is the name of the cut. And the cut also make it useless to put any stone underneath it. because it is only flat on one side and pointy on the other it wont act as mirror and because the top is not convex it wont magnify.
It would be a lot more interesting if the table had a slight convex curvature and the pavilion, instead of being faceted, also had a slight convex curvature then keep the other facets so it still keeps some sparkle of a diamond. Then... when you put a smaller faceted stone underneath it it's magnified and looks bigger than it actually is. That my friends would be awesome!
Such wonderful thinking and would look absolutely beautiful! But a diamond this thin is prone to chips and other things probably why they don't want to cruve it to much for magnifying other stones!

I love creative new designs like this. Normal jewelry store products have no appeal for me. I also love that crazily shaped diamond, it's so cool! I hope the points can be protected discreetly because it would be a shame to ruin the lines with prongs.
I really like this it's super creative. I'm a goldsmith myself and I know setters generally hate windowing on diamonds but I think your design might have them rethinking 😊
Lab created diamonds are not only identical to natural diamonds, they're actually better because they can be made truly flawless where as natural ones are not. They are the exact same strength and have the exact same properties.....
I remember when people wanted diamonds that didn't look like glass. I don't know why anybody would want a diamond without any character in a cut that offers nothing to the material.
That is epic!! Wish it had a little bit of sparkle built in but it being quote on quote "crystal clear" and that you put such a cool pink diamond underneath it's makes up for it 10 fold!!❤🤩😍
Rose cut is very thin, if not set properly it may chip/break. Because it does not have depth, it does not reflect similar light properties, it’s like a piece of glass.!
Please set it responsibly. A thin diamond like that is prone to wear if not set correctly.
How so? Diamonds don't scratch regardless of how thin they are
@@dustin628they don't scratch but they do chip
@@dustin628 pressure points have an easier time striking and chipping at the edge
I think he knows what he is doing.
I don't think a ring like that would be daily wear, it doesn't have to be as durable as an engagement ring

Oh wow!!! I’m obsessed with the royals of the world’s jewelry. I would love to see that.
🤩
The Romanov's really knew how to accessorize ✨️
Difficulty in setting it correctly to have a colored diamonds other could extra diamonds in the mountains on shoulders
@@chazethewhiterabbit they should be given back where they belong...😢😢😢
Pfft. I spent 3 months working out how to do this with opal and diamond, and this guy goes and just ups the stakes.. respect
Dam, I know the feeling 😅
That combination sounds amazing!
I want to see what you came up with, that sounds really pretty. maybe white sapphire would be easier to work with, with the opal?
I need you to shut up and just show me the ring.
Opal would look a million times better, keep doing your thing, im sure your idea looks better

Yeah I love the old cuts as well.
Old European cuts are so gorgeous. For sure my top choice
I love seeing innovative jewelry designs like this. I’m really tired of seeing the same old stuff.
You are so amazing. Seeing innovation in diamond jewelry is next level. Makes me happy.
words and fake ai image are not innovation.
This isnt innovation, its been done before
Thin diamonds CAN break (if set into a ring)... just like the corners of marquis cut diamonds tend to chip...

Good idea
I think he had another stone under that one in the ring.
If I'm not mistaken.. you need to polish to make it a cabochon.. and that will loose the "diamond look" 💎
He said it’s completely transparent, meaning it won’t magnify

I want that ring so bad 😅
That's seriously the coolest and most innovative ring design, I've seen in a long time. Exceptional 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
If I ever get the opportunity to upgrade I would sooo want that ring.
The ring with another diamond underneath is stunning! I LOVE that idea!!
I wouldn't want a diamond without sparkle and that sense that you're looking into another dimension
It looks like the edges around the clear part *does* have a sparkle, which I think is cool.
Boring take

The ring design is amazing, I've never seen or even heard of anything like that.
That ring of a diamond inside another was mesmerizing. I would so love to have that..
That looks SO COOOOOLLLL!!!

If the diamond underneath falls out would be a bitch to reset another one. Another jewelers nightmare
Wow beautiful love it!
Sheet diamonds are so pretty I love when they have the imperfections even more than the clear ones
"Boss we cut all the scraps like you said, but they have windows."
"Don't worry, we can market them."
Brilliant design idea
Diamond scalpel blades are a bit closer to the paper thinness.
Wow! Impressive Great setting idea

You're doing Kool things!
That diamond is gorgeous and I think it’s way classier than the others
This is so cool!
This is a ploy to make a stone with a low carat weight look big. But without the depth it just looks like cheap glass.
Can not wait to see what you do with this .. I need a jeweler badly.... New subscriber!!!
