I feel like that was legitimately a masterclass on how to properly do a review. Great job. Fantastic review. I already received mine today and it was a birthday present. Can't wait to start brewing with this thing. I was thinking of getting the new Keurig dual brew station but decided to purchase this instead. I have a bunch of Starbucks k cups and I miss brewing them easily at work, so I planned on getting something to brew them with while aiming to not interfere with my dad's normal carafe brewing. Already feeling like I made the better decision and nailed it with this ninja brewer. Only time will tell but if this thing works this easily I'll definitely recommend it to my friends and family.
Thanks, Aragon! We actually did a comparison video between this and the Keurig K-Duo a while back as well. We liked this better. Lot's of neat features....and it still works... so that's good! Haha
Best review for this device, and I’ve probably watched them all. Goes through all the features by actually demonstrating them and then giving an opinion on how well it performed each one. Kudos.
This was an amazing, high quality review! I was about to purchase the Cuisinart SS-21, but the awkward non-removable water reservoir had me hesitant. After seeing this video, I think I'm sold on this. Now the only things needed to make it perfect would be the automatic drip stop and not needing to remove the K-Cup adapter to switch between K-Cup and Carafe modes.
The stainless steel carafe is a life saver. With a household of 6, the chances of dropping a glass carafe and breaking it is quite high haha. So no worries here with the stainless design. Awesome review as I had purchased this as a gift for my wife and had no idea how all of the functions worked. Very thorough review!! Thanks!
Thanks! Appreciate the support! I like the fact that it will keep the coffee warm and you don't have to worry about it getting burned by a hot plate... Which is what happened to me all the time before since I take forever to go throigh it. Lol

Wow, I hadn’t even been considering this model in my search for a combo coffee maker, and I don’t know why, but it definitely moved right to the top of my list. I really wanted a machine that can also do hot water, and the fact that it uses a separate line is great. You can get hot water from my Keurig mini, but I’d course have to either run a cup empty just to clean the water out, or just deal with coffee tinted water and possible grounds. I don’t have a use for the frother since I have a hand one already, and I like the look of a glass carafe better, but those are kind of arbitrary things I guess. Thanks again for sharing! Great review!
No problem! Glad I could help! Keep in mind that if you get the Best Buy version, it has the stainless carafe' and not hot plate, but if you get it from anywhere else, it has a glass carafe' and DOES have a hot plate... confusing, huh?

Thanks, Bel! You are so welcome. Just keep in mind that the ability of the stainless carafe to keep the coffee hot is dependant upon how much coffee you brew. A full pot will stay hot a lot longer than a quarter pot just because of the amount of heat energy stored inside. That's a point that I feel like a lot of people miss, but with no active heating, it makes sense.... The part I like is that you won't end up with burned coffee since there isn't a hot plate on it.
I really want to love this. The only thing stopping me is the pod basket having to be removed or added. I don’t mind the drip stop as much because I don’t ever take it out mid brew. It would be nice to have it automatic though.
Yeah... would have been nice if maybe there was a permenant pod basket the just kinda hung off the side or something. I don't like having to find places to store the extra parts either.

Yeah.. I have forgotten a couple of times and pulled the carafe in th middle of a brew. Also something I noticed is that whne putting the carafe back in, it's pretty easy to bang it on the dripstop lever since it's in the way a little. Nothing had been damaged that way, but it's a little annoying too.
i have used Keurig for years but they never lasted very long. I thought I'd check out the Ninja Dual because there were good reviews. I was very suprised. The coffee from the Ninja is far superior to anything I ever got out of Keurig. This tastes more like COFFEE than burnt weak grounds. P.S. Is there a water reservoir in this thing? If so, is there a way to drain it? Cheers!
Thanks for sharing! Keurig has always had issues with their coffee maker design... In fact, when they break, they often just offer the consumer a new machine for free. That's because almost all of their profits come from the sale of the K-cups, as they own Green Mountain Coffee which makes or licenses all of the pods. It's a similar model to printer companies like HP making all their money on the ink sales. Yep..there is a 60oz resovoir. It can be oriented on the side or on the back depending on what is more convenient to you.. It's also removable.. To drain it, you have to take it off, or just use up all the water, which is about as much as you can fit in the carafe.
The glass carafe version uses active heating so it goes in hot and has a hot plate in there to keep it hot. Those work fine, but if the coffee is on there a while it can burn a bit. The thermal versions don't use active heating and rely on the heat from the brewed coffee and the thermos type carafe to keep it hot. That way the coffee flavor doesn't change, but you lose heat. Those ones will stay nice and hot for quite a few hours if you brew a full carafe but the smaller the brew you do and/or the less remaining coffee you have left reduces the ability for it to stay hot also... So if there isn't much in there it can cool down pretty quick. Those carafes are more durable also.
Thanks for the super helpful review! I've been looking for a new coffee machine that's flexible with options and haven't found anything else that suits my needs as much as the ninja machines-I was looking at their specialty coffee maker before I saw this one is now on sale. Hubby isn't as convinced (worried it will be flimsy and hard to clean) but he won't be the one using it or doing the cleaning anyways, so don't know why he's worried haha 😂
If I rememeber right, it retails for $230, and goes on sale sometimes for $199. The one in the video with the stainless carafe is a Best Buy Exclusive (or it used to be). Otherwise the carafe is glass, and has a warmer plate. Same price though.
I am wondering if you had any experiences with the thermal carafe leaking? I am wanting to purchase this one because of the thermal carafe vs. glass (because I'm afraid I will end up breaking the glass). From reviews that I've read online, some say that it leaks & they wish that it had a pouring spout when pouring the coffee in a cup. Curious about your thoughts. Also curious on a review of the CFP305 (thermal carafe) vs CFP301(Glass or any of them that have the glass carafe). I know the functions on them are pretty much the same other than the carafe, but curious to know what the carafe differences. Whether the thermal makes more sense then the glass. Also, Ninja doesn't offer the thermal one on their website, only the glass carafe ones.
The glass VS stainless thing is a matter of preference. The glass cleans up easier, and you have the use of a hot plate on that version to keep it hot. The stainless doesn't need the plate since it keeps the coffee hotter longer, but the more you drink, the less stored heat will be left in there to keep the rest hot. I do get a tiny bit of drip on my stainless carafe. I think it from the inside up at the top, and when you pour, it can seep in there. It's a little annoying, but it's a pretty minor thing IMO. Maybe one or 2 drips and you can just wipe the outside of the carafe and it seems fine.... It is kinda weird though.
It will drip for a couple of minutes until the basket cleara all the water. If I pull my carafe early I just be sure to flip the little close switch above th carafe so I don't run into trouble with that.
For me, the brewed coffee tasted about the same... However, I put a lot of creamer in it, so my opinion probably isn't the best on that. LOL. The stainless carafe does a pretty amazing job keeping the coffee hot if you brew a full carafe, tho! Also, since the version I reviewed isn't actively heated on a plate, the coffee doesn't burn. As far as K-cups go, I feel like that just depends more on the k-cup and not the machine... The ninja won't clog as easily, though.
@@JoesPhenomenal Hi Joe thank you so much for your quick response. Much appreciated. Would you recommend the Ninja over the Keurig? The Keurig seems to have issues according to the reviews I read
@@peterthompson5854 You're welcome, Peter! I would, for sure... I have a head to head here between this coffee maker and a Keurig Duo right here if ya wanna check it out: th-cam.com/video/VWn9TEYCXD0/w-d-xo.html. The Keurig had some weird issues with the carafe.. Still a decent machine though.
Yep... Just like that. If you brew a full pot, it should be able to keep it warm for quite a few hours, but not as long as a sealed thermos... On mine it's still pretty warm after 7 hrs or so.
Having problems with grounds in your coffe using k cups. 2 ninjas and same problem. Cant handle lots of grounds in my cup. Bummer as nobody shares this
I haven't had that issue z but I brew mostly carafe coffee. Did a kcup before to test it, and that turned out fine, but it was just one and it was a long time ago. Since the z when I do that single serve, I just use a reusable kcup filter and haven't had issues going that route.... Not quite the same situation though.
I have this coffe maker I brand new and 2 years ago and now give me this type problems when I brew k cup only steam coming out too much steam and if I take the k cup out water is coming out ,I select 12 Oz and only get 6 oz,this is one problem, I already clean up with vinegar several times and nothing happens, now I bought another ninja 305 in abay action giving me the right amount only when I used in ground brew position and the coffe brew is ok ,but when I select k cup is not good, I has to keep the lid a little open in order to make brew or push the lid for the k cup little back and then I make brew, what possible can I do, I will appreciate any advice. Thanks.
I stead of paper filters .. did u try any of the stainless steel filters of the same cone shape and size.. ?? As u mentioned I am not a fan of paper filters either and looking for a permanent filters..
Ya know... I've tried a couple of perm. Filters thta didn't quite fit.... Was gonna order the one from ninja, but it has been out of stock, so I'm just doing paper until they get those back in.
The glass one for the other version of the dual-brew pro should fit ok, but I believe the ones from the previous models are a tiny bit wider. That being said, they should still be fine if the fill spout still lines up and it fits under the basket. If you go on Ninja's product page they might have measurements... or better yet if you wanna measure the height and width of your carafe, I'll measure the space on mine and we can see if it fits in there. Also, the model of brewer you're carafe is from if you know.
This morning was my first time using the thermal carafe. Not sure I like it very much. I made a 1/2 carafe at 530am, poured my portion in my insulated travel mug for work and left enough for my fiance who works from home. She "says" she got up 20 minutes after I left, which probably translates to an hour, and poured her cup of coffee and says it was barely warm. 🤔 I'm wondering if the thermal carafe should have a "closed" feature on the actual carafe, like a mug. Otherwise the heat is just escaping out of the top.
Hmm.... Maybe not enough left in there after your pour to keep the remaining coffee hot for long? I'd try it will full carafe and see what happens. Definitely a little heat loss on the spout... Great insight there on needing the ability to close that, though. Thanks for that!
Something happened to me , as Brazilians we love very very hot coffee. Little disappointed that it won't keep not even warm , it literally gives you cold coffee. Plus mine with the k coffe it gives a big splash at the end and it dirty it the whole machine and surrounding.
Does the stainless steel carafe use the deep straw that stores the coffee so that it says that full body flavored like the last one does it’s in the lead actually
Thanks man... Experimenting a little with this one. This would have normally been content for 2 different videos. By combining, it's a better overall I think, but it's made it really long, so we will. See if the retention is good enough to support it. Mad scientist stuff.
Just bought this same coffee maker and received it in the mail today but my brew style and other buttons like ice etc won’t light up..how do I get it to let me choose brew style etc?
Hmmm..Let see... if the lid on the top isn't totally closed, it won't light up any options for you when you turn it on... but I think it might be the hot water dial. Looking at the front of the machine, there is a silver dial around the left side. If it is turned towards you, it is on coffee mode and all that stuff should light up.. however, if it is turned away, it will be on hot water mode and none of the coffee options down the right side of the screen come on... Hopefully one of those helps you out!
Hey Joe, Nice review! I have the Ninja CFP201 that comes with the glass carafe and I am trying to figure out if I buy a Stainless carafe if it will fit my unit. The Ninja website is sold out of the glass carafes but do have the stainless carafe in stock. Figured I can turn off the warmer pad and just use the stainless one but not sure if it will fit. From all the videos I have watched it sure looks like it will fit, just haven't seen it in writing. Thought maybe you might know or someone reading the comments might. Thanks
The carafe should be the same other than the material it's made of. Looks like the same dimensions. If it doesn't work for some reason you can always return it though..
Yep. you're right! I think I mentioned that in the comments someplace or in the video description. Best Buy as far as I know is exclusive with the stainless one.. Everone else has that glass one and the hot plate. Thanks for mentioning that though! Appreciate you!
Just bought this model and I'm waiting on delivery. It's replacing the newer Hamilton Beach FlexBrew. I wouldn't have bought the FlexBrew if I knew this Ninja existed. The FlexBrew is a good machine though. I don't like the lack of backlight, that's unacceptable in 2022.
I'm not sure if they bake a refillable k-cup for this coffee maker yet. I have one for my old keurig, but it doesn't work on this. The design of the water injector things that poke into the top of the paper k-cups is different. Haven't really gone hunting around for one just yet though. Nothing on the Ninja website though.
@@JoesPhenomenal Thank You Maybe we don’t need it if we can make just a cup with grounds. Not sure I need to check I have the one Sam’s club sells it’s missing the Milk Frothier I just purchased the Stainless Steal Carafe on eBay from a lady. I have this in my Motorhome so the I breakable carafe I thought would be a great idea
Oh, good call! That threw me off since my keurig actually had a separate area for the single cups. It turned out not to be a big deal at all though. I haven't missed the autostop at all.
Hmm.. That's weird... Didn't experience that when we were testing it.... Then again, we only did about 6 or 7 during testing.. We do just about all the brews in the carafe... I'll check it out and let you know if I can make ours do that... which brand of k-cups are you using?
@@JoesPhenomenal donut shop K-Cups that they sell in Costco. The one weird thing I noticed about the K-Cups is that they feel kind of pressurized if you squeeze K-Cups it feels like they have pressure in them
Update just got two small boxes of k kups from local store and the grinds and pressure building up didn't happen starting to think that the K-Cup sold at Costco are defective K-Cups.
OMG, no automatic drip-stop, iv'e never heard of that. Surely the 301 has that ? No? let me know if the 301, which is expensive, has the drip-stop. Also, does the 301 heat the milk on the frother? Also, does the 301 have a reusable metal micro-screen? Also, does the 301 have a drip tray below the cup base? or below the carafe base? If not, how does it catch drips down below? Is the 301 metal up top? At the 301 price-point, I would assume it's all metal, everywhere. Does the 301 have a flip-switch for the frother? or do you have to hold it down? hopefully , for God's sake, you don't have to hold down the 301 frother button such as is the case in this model you are demo'ing. Thanks so much for this video, I am a subscriber and thumbs up to this video.
Could you tell me where you got your metal carafe, I see the one that comes with the machine is glass. If there is no warming pad, I am not sure how the machine would keep it warm. Thanks so much for this great video, I am now considering buying this.
Heya Kathy! The one with the stailess carafe is a Best Buy exclusive right now. It has the stainless carafe but no warming pad. For now, if you get it though any other source, it comes with the glass carafe, but in that case, the unit does have a warming pad on it that stays on 2-3 hours after the brew finishes.

Well, that's not good. Haven't had any of those problems here. Comes out hot and stays that way for quite a few hours for me.. How long ago did you get it? If you just got it, I would skip calling Ninja about it and just exchange it at the store... Definitely something going on with it. On a related note, I have a few Brazilian friends, and you're not joking about the hot coffee! Lol... I had some over there it it was as hot as thr sun.
Are you making 1/2 or full pots and it’s cold ? I find if I make it any smaller than those the carafe doesn’t keep it hot for long because there’s to much empty space left in the carafe
I know that if they have the stainless carafe version, there isn't a warming plate, so it's up to the existing liquid and carafe to keep it warm... The smaller the brew, the less heat energy there is going to be to keep it hot... We always do full carafes and they have always stayed pretty hot for quite a few hours....

:) woww. Unfortunately I am not drinking coffee but this video is really very informative :)
Yessir.... It's basically every version of it not sold at Best Buy as far as I can see.... That stainless carafe does an amazing job keeping it hot tho... As long as you brew pretty close to full brews!
@@JoesPhenomenal It improves pretty much everything you mentioned. Heated carafe, no filter attachment being the big ones. The carafe is glass now though, and I can’t seem to rotate the water, but that’s ok since I think it would be sort of a pain to see if it’s empty on the back and also to put it for refilling. So far really happy with it! On the first morning I scheduled it and had coffee ready and waiting. Can’t wait to try some of the other features.
I have a hate love relationship with it , is it a pro . Not even close, a Jura is pro, ninja is the Bose and apple of the appliance world. They deliver a decent product, with some gimmick functionality to it and dress it nicely. Don't get me wrong , I got one and like it loving? No, and for one reason and one reason only. I have literally made 10 pots of coffee with it , and the machine cried "clean" 3 times now. Which is way to many times for the amounts of coffee I made with it so far. And I use ONLY BOTTLED WATER to fill the reservoir. And it does it, when I am in the mids of making coffee too. Brews , then stops "CLN", and there goes my freshly ground coffee . As I already brewed partially. And each cycle takes 75 min! If it keeps doing it, I will replace mine with something else. Very annoying
Wow.. That's terrible, Michael. How long have you had it? I'm thinking you might have a defective one. We have done about 30 or so pots of coffee since we got ours, and we haven't had the cleaning /descaling notification pop up yet. We use purified water in ours like you do.. Also, it still produces a full pot in about 8 to 10 minutes for us. I'd ask Ninja to replace it for you... Dedinitely something isn't right there... So sorry to hear about your troubles.
I hear ya! I thought the same thing when I did the review. It definitely depends on how you use your coffee maker as to whether this is a good feature or terrible. The Carafe acts a lot like a Contigo Stainless container. It's insulated really well, so if you brew a full carafe, it will keep that hot for a good 4 or 5 hours or so. Also, you don't run the risk of the coffee burning due to the heat from a heating plate. Also, it looks nice, is easier to clean than glass, and is more durable....However, if you don't brew full carafe's it can be a different story. It relies on the heat energy inside the carafe to keep everything hot. The less that is in there, the less efficient it is too... So as you drink it, or if you do short brews, that time reduces quite a bit. We've always brewed full carafes so we never had an issue, but because of that it got overlooked on the review since I didn't see it. They do make 2 versions of the machine. The one with the stainless carafe and no heating plate from the review, and also another with the glass carafe and a heating plate that I think stays on for 3 hours if I'm not mistaken. Same price, last time I checked. Anyway excellent point! Thanks for checking it out anyways....

Thanks for the review, Question - Can you brew a single cup without using the K-cup feature?
Yes you can. The regular carafe brewing goes down to 8oz.
Do you have a suggestion as to why the thermal carafe would be better than glass assuming people know how to clean them?
Lol! Real world problems! Haha
Did you mention price or did I miss it?
@@JoesPhenomenal Also, have you experience with it dripping after it's done making coffee? After the ending beep, it will drip onto the plate?
It will drip for a couple of minutes until the basket cleara all the water. If I pull my carafe early I just be sure to flip the little close switch above th carafe so I don't run into trouble with that.
Hi Joe. Fantastic video. Could you give me your opinion which coffee taste better this Ninja or the Keurig k-supreme plus? Thank you.
It comes with a glass carafe. The thermal carafe where you got it ?
The version from Best Buy comes with the stainless. I think it's exclusive to them.
Does it do Reusable k cups or a reusable for kraft
Yes... They make a kcup ground coffee adapter and also a reusable filter as well. If you need help finding those, I can link them for you.
Can you use regular coffee creamer, to froth the cream?
Haven't tried it, but I don't see why it wouldn't. Will check that out and let ya know.
Yep... It froths pretty good, too.
Does the stainless steel carafe work kind of like a thermos is insulated
I was told, the stainless steel pot I have for my old Ninja, won't fit this one, is this true? Because it looks the same size to me.
Yep.. It has that long straw built into the carafe lid.... Must work OK, since all the cups I've poured from it seem pretty consistent.
Can you buy a permanent filter?
Yes! Here is the ones I got: amzn.to/3A0xJkF
I couldn’t see the switch for hot water for te
If you're looking at the front of the machine, the switch is a dial... It should be on the side of the machine on the left side.
Amazingly detailed review! Thanks so much.
Thanks man... Experimenting a little with this one. This would have normally been content for 2 different videos. By combining, it's a better overall I think, but it's made it really long, so we will. See if the retention is good enough to support it. Mad scientist stuff.
@@JoesPhenomenal You're preaching to a fellow Mad Scientist! Haha
Lol. Indeed!
Thanks. That's the same question, I had.
Is this programable ?
As far as programs go, you can set the brewer to brew at whatever time you like, but other than that, all the programs are set.
The version of this machine with the glass carafe does come with a heat plate.
Yep. you're right!
I think you'll like it, I've been pretty happy with mine. It's a pretty new model, so it might not have existed yet when you got your FlexBrew.
I wonder if I can use my coffee filter, to my old Ninja, for this one? & my stainless steel coffee pot. 🤔
What model is your old one? I can try to find out.
@@JoesPhenomenal it's the CP307 (the old one) . It came with the stainless steel pot. CFP301 is the new one.
OK.. Will see if I can find measurements on it.
@@JoesPhenomenal I got it. Thanks anyway.
@@MoDavI-sl7iy np! let me know how it fits!
I'm sold.😃
I like it! A few people have reported some warranty issues with it, but I think that can happen with just about everything these days.
Can we use our favorite coffee in an optional refillable kcup if we want the single cup
@@JoesPhenomenal The model Sam’s Club has is $159.
Oh yeah for sure..... That glass would definitely be a liability!
There are reusable k-cups available on Amazon now for this specific Ninja unit (both plastic as well as stainless options)
Great review!
Glad you enjoyed it
You're from Las Vegas, born and raised, and you said your dad was from Pittsburgh as well?
Yeah. We just out in Pitt for the first time last month. That place looks so different than what I imagined.
Joe, where are you from?
Vegas... Born and raised. My dad was from Pittsburgh though.
Awesome review! Thank you very much.. very informative..
You're welcome, Sherry! Glad you stopped by!
I was surprised to find my unit didn't have a side knob for hot water. WTF?
Do you have the dual brew or the pro? I think the regular dual brew doesnt have that knob if I remember right.
If it had auto brew stop it wouldn’t be able to brew into a cup instead though right?
Oh, good call! That threw me off since my keurig actually had a separate area for the single cups. It turned out not to be a big deal at all though. I haven't missed the autostop at all.
@@JoesPhenomenal I haven’t noticed it be a problem either! I’m very happy with the purchase. Thanks for your review.
@@nicetomeecha Hey! No problem!
My Ninja K-Cup always leaves thousands of coffee grounds in my cups and then explodes as you lift the top off do you know I fixed for this
The one weird thing I noticed about the K-Cups is that they feel kind of pressurized if you squeeze K-Cups it feels like they have pressure in them
@@ryusan717 That's weird. I'll go get some of those and check it out. Will let ya know if it does the same thing to me.
@@JoesPhenomenal thanks my machine is a brand new replacement from ninja so I'm starting to think it's the k cups from Costco
Wow! I'll research all this stuff for you and get back to you tomorrow!
@@JoesPhenomenal great, thanks!
@@JoesPhenomenal , thank you.
No problem! Have a happy new year!
Mine have a glass carafe.
I think Best Buy has exclusive rights to the Stainless Carafe version.
Thank you for the absence of video "fluff" like unboxing, overselling your channel at the beginning, interrupting the video to advertise other videos or links to merchandise in the video.

I'm trying to get in touch with Ninja but no success
Thank you!
There is a version of this that DOES have a Hot Plate and comes with the glass carafe…..just so everyone knows :-)
Yessir.... It's basically every version of it not sold at Best Buy as far as I can see.... That stainless carafe does an amazing job keeping it hot tho... As long as you brew pretty close to full brews!
👏👏👏👏👏
PS: got this at Costco the new version seems much improved!
Yes! I saw it over there the other week... It's got a glass carafe' on it, right? I think Best Buy has excusive rights to the stainless design.
That's awesome. So glad you like it Sean! I never rotate my water resovoir either... It's tough to get to on the back.
SO NO WARMING PLATE TO REHEAT OR MAINTAIN WARMTH??? GARBAGE
I couldn’t see the switch for hot water for te
If you are looking at the machine from the front, it is on the side of the machine on the left side. It's a dial.
