this was absolutely stunning, i think your best one yet! klaus & rebekah have such a messy complex relationship and you showed both the good and the ugly and i loved every second of it. really loved that it was divided into sections too, truly showing the progression of their relationship

I understand that Klaus had deep traumas caused by Mikael's executioner, I understand that he was afraid of being left behind and being treated differently like Mikael did to him, I understand his problems I understand the fact that he was the product of his mother's lie and that's why he didn't trust anyone else, I understand that his way of dismantling love was complex, he didn't know how to do that with his brothers, but the way he treated rebekah so badly during all these years when she was there for him, forgiving, forgetting what he did to be by his side, accepting his impositions, while he stole her whenever he wanted, snatched her chances of being happy from her hands, killing ALL those she loves,even though she was there for him for a thousand years he treated her like dirt, while he met Caroline in a few days and treated her like a queen, chose to save her over his own sister, left her behind with the excuse that she could fend for herself, but what did it cost him to get her out of there too?? he contradicts himself when he says he just wanted to protect her, because when he really had the opportunity he left it behind. But then she forgave him and they lived for centuries and centuries in that same cycle, and when she decided she wanted a family and being happy without being a "monster" he paralyzed her again. so in the end near his death he recognizes what he did, but it doesn't change the fact that it lasts you YEARS and YEARS he was the the villain of her story, the one who swore to be always and forever with her. In the end he took over, gave her the chance he ripped it out of her hands and died, once again breaking her heart 💔
I blame the writers. They gave Klaus a blonde replica named Caroline who resembled her sister as a half ass love interest. No wonder freya trashed his taste in women when she read his mind
Klaus is a conflicted and broken character, you conveniently forget that before this Rebekah had already conspired to murder him using Mikael as her tool to do so for a second time, the man that literally destroyed his family to begin with, with the aid of his wife as well. It's almost like the writers were trying portray a broken and conflicted family who all experienced different traumas and were broken in different ways due to the events surrounding them. Okay, are we going to judge this character for his bad deeds? Did we not understand the psychological complexity of Klaus? I am surprised that we continue to remember Caroline, of course, a great character in her life, but very insignificant in terms of the development of what she is, of what this great villain was, more than a villain, a great character with psychological complexities, and who moved to more than one, BY GOD, A SERIES, A SERIES, which needs to be recognized beyond the moralistic ideas of a few.
Joseph has said in interviews that Rebekah was Klaus's favorite sibling but I swear I don't see it. He loved her and showed it but he was also an ass and treated her badly. But at the end of the episode where he finally let Rebekah leave (season 1) after trapped together in graveyard.... Such a beautiful woman. She seems so different than all the other beauties out there. THIS IS A MASTERPIECE!!! You portrayed their relationship and development beautifully and brought me to tears. Yes,Klaus was manipulative towards Rebekah but in my opinion there is a balance in his actions. He took away her happiness at times but always tried to make amends afterwards. He killed Esther,did not tell her about it because he was afraid of losing her. He instead did everything to protect her. He killed Alexander (was right about that tho), daggered her but did not wake her till the time he god rid of the hunter's curse and hallucinations. After seeing his wrongdoing concerning her and Marcel,out of fear of being left out and unloved(as he confessed),he gave them his blessing. He made Stefan forget them,again I believe in fear of Mikael harming her and Rebekah leaving him,but undaggered her while with Stefan again. And after finding out about her betrayal,he let her go and live the life she always wanted,gave her his daughter to protect,was eager to take her place even though being human was the last thing he wanted,accepted again her love with Marcel and finally ensured that she'd get the cure. Yes he tormented her but as Rebekah mentions they all had traumas and fears projected into each others lives. And I think Klaus and Rebekah had the most multilayered,balanced and profound relationship of all. THANK YOU for this video!!
