Dave, I am 44 and was licensed in about 1990. I have been inactive since 2000. My new to me Yaesu FT-950 in near mint condition arrived today. I'm becoming active again and it's in no small part to the TH-camrs like you. You'll be glad to know I joined ARRL for the first time in my life yesterday. When I was active I couldn't afford it. I'll be putting my station together piece-by-piece over the coming month. 73 N8PEF

Dave, I so appreciate your training videos, I'm working toward my general (from Tech), and thank you for that series. But I also bought an IC-7300, so this series has been very helpful! I think I've leaned more here than from the manual.

Thanks Dave for the video, I hope you do more of the expanded features of the IC-7300.

I do like the the ICOM user interface. Overall, it is intuitive to use without the need to remember numerical slot codes to get to a function. So much easier to learn, it makes the unit a pleasure to operate.

Great video, I just purchased a 7300 to upgrade from my 706mkIIg. I recently got bitten by the contest bug and that's one of the features I've been looking forward to. Thanks for making a video showing how to use it.

My shack/man cave was a "no" room. my favorite. was a cw keyer still miss the thing. had to throw it all away for the fear of a 6 year old on the air. at 69 I'm all by my selfe and put things on my shelf's "expect them to fare better" . Still miss that cw keyer. Kv4li. 73. Ps Getting back in the swing. New j pole and 2/ 440 rigs revived hand made rigs. Sailing the air waves again. 73

I find your videos interesting and have enjoyed going through many of them. I was wondering, have you done a video on creating an interface for using a gaming headset microphone?
    Thanks for being there... 73's

Thanks for the video, Dave. And I'm really happy to see that you seem to be recovering from your visit to the dentist. AE0GQ

Little by little. BTW, I ordered some SMA adapters from Amazon. When they get here I'll get in touch re the nanoVNA.

Enjoying all the episodes during the sheltering period, but remember God rested after six days. You can too!
On another note, new hams, trust Dave on the chosen reference station. I have been licensed over 40 years and my Yaesu FTdx 3000 is wonderful, but it is a handful! W4NES

Hi Dave, I’m just getting into scanners/radios and I am studying to take my technician license test. I’m a very hands on person and I have been making my own antennas for scanning air band. I was wondering what you think of the cheap VNA’s and if you have any videos about them.
    Thanks in advance

Nothing in the video about "works for many other radios too" ... which radios and how to set up?

  • @graywolf1911

Thank you Dave, another very interesting how- to video that will work with other radios as well as they are all somewhat similar with memories. I was wondering if the SOTABEAM can be daisy chained, with appropriate resistors, to use all 8 memories ? Of course you would either have to make it yourself, or, buy a second unit.. Maybe a call/email to Richard at Sotabeam could add some info ?

Richard retired and handed off the company last week.

Sadly no. Only the first four keyer memories are available using the mic jack.

Yeah, that camera is getting old and seems to have more trouble focusing. Usually it identifies a face and focuses on that. I think the lamp at the very left of the frame probably confused it.

Look for the Sotabeams contest console elsewhere! DX Engineering can't be relied upon to honor any of their transactions, so don't risk wasting your time with them!

I've had good luck with DXEngineering. Sorry your experience didn't match mine.
