I would suggest that for us older guys, and there are a few of us, things like stabilization and magnification are important. Would love to see a 7x or even 8x, and/or stabilization in a straightforward rangefinder.
I bought the TL-1 based on his prior video. Once I replaced the included battery with a new name brand cell it has been rock solid. Love the slope function. 5 stars.
@@breakingeighty I’m in Canada so had to work some shipping wizardry to get the rock bottom price. It was worth it. I also bought the Ecco Biom G5 shoes based on your recommendation and they have been excellent too. Keep up the good work!
I purchased the TL1 based on your recommendation. My satisfaction rating is 8.5/10. The knockdown on the rating is twofold. First is with the flag lock - it works well unless small obstructions are in the way, like high native grasses. It will pick up on the top of the grass - using common sense it is recognizable and reshoot it trying to avoid the interference. The second miss is not having the capability to utilize flag pole reflectors.
I think that's a pretty fair assessment! Although, can you elaborate on not being able to use the flag pole reflectors? Wasn't aware of that being an issue with this one, but now very curious!
I loved my x3 but it had some graphics moved off the screen so they replaced it with an X3+. still the best range finder on the market but i dont use it for wind,. The accuracy, speed and the 7x magnification are the most important features to me, I also use a garmin s70. if only the z30 was out before i bought my x3 i would own that for sure. Now gamin just needs to up the app game to compete with arccos and shotscope as its not close to either of those when it comes to stats.
I am slowly working my way up in price/features on rangefinders. However, I do have a GPS device on my trolley all the time which gives me approximate yardages I started with a BOBLOV basic rangefinder, which I still use for competitions. It is cheap, very cheap (c.$50) it has no features, no flag lock, no stabilisation, no slope reading but it is accurate and uses USB charging. I recently moved up to a Chinese knock-off Cigman for $80. It is small, it has slop reading, flag lock and I can adjust the magnification. The software is cr*p (who needs speed reading on a golf range finder), confusing but it works, it is accurate and again uses US charging. What surprised me was the build quality, of course at this price it is mostly plastic but it is robust and comes with a very good case. TBH other than stabilisation, and my hands are not that shaky (yet!), not seeing a reason to spend more than that
I would like to take advantage of the killer deal on the Voice Caddie TL1, but I'm the guy who will leave this on the ground, on the cart, on the back of the shitter and lose it. I think I have no choice but to spend for GPS "find my" features
Returned the Titan Elite after one round. Everything about it is awesome but the gps doesn’t work unless the phone is in your pocket or just a few steps from the cart or bag
I’ve been using it for a while…no issues with the GPS without the phone in my pocket. That said, you need to be close to the phone because that’s where the GPS distances are measured from…I use a push cart, so I’m normally with my phone…if you are playing cart path in a cart, then I see it could be an issue…
Any chance you'd review the temu/aliexpress range finders? Not sure if you can access those in the states...? 40 usd will get you a range finder and 100 gets you one with an lcd screen on the side ... Would be amazing to see conparison with better brands !
My range finder stops working when there is fog in SF.. everything becomes 15 yards even though i can see the flag with my naked eye .. any tool that works best in these conditions?
I actually still really like the KLYR! If it fits with what you're looking for, definitely go for it. The reason I left it off this was simply because there's been a number of other products that have dropped their price, and offer a little bit more for around the same money. I could pretty easily switch out the Blue Tees for the KLYR in this ranking, but the Blue Tees got the nod for being slightly cheaper after discounts.
I rarely bother with my (bulky) rangefinder any more - I am using my Bushnell Ion Elite gps slope-adjusted watch - find it's way more user friendly - it's always with you and as accurate as I need. I don't want/need apps or stats or any other bs. KISS principle. And like all electronic devices, if you wait a year, there's something better and cheaper.
@@breakingeighty I haven’t but I love Grint, which peaked my interest in the Swingman. I have a 10+ year old bushnell still doing the job but looking to upgrade.
Be careful with the blue tees. I’ve had one and returned it due to bad yardages and not getting a yardage period. Also to mention their customer service is TERRIBLE!!
For the love of god flag your soft box. I’ve been watching for years and I can’t take it anymore. Flag that shit and lose the reflection. Honestly not that big of a deal. Love the content. 😊
Honestly, it's just because I haven't fully tested it myself. I only used it for about 10 minutes at the PGA Show. And while solid, I actually found the Laser Fit to be a bit easier to use from a triangulation standpoint. But CaddyTalk wins on build quality.
Great stuff! However, you mis-represented the Precision Pro Titan elite…you only mentioned that it will give you front, middle, and back…but it will also give you the distance to the flag using the laser…than you hit the button to get the GPS distances to front, middle and back!!
What a great deal for all Breaking Eighty subscribers…oh wait it’s only for American breaking eighty subscribers. Way to alienate your international subscribers.
You WAY over-value a magnet or no magnet. 50% of the golfers around the world walk or push cart golf anyways. Getting your yards without standing over the ball all the time is litterly one of the greatest attributes in all finders. How many times do we need to see distances around a dog leg or around a bush or up a hill blindly? CaddyTalk and Laser Fit should both be top 3

I appreciate all of your hard work
Those magnet ones are great but continue to grab it when the round is over. Now I put the case in the back basket as a reminder.
This is the beauty of the GPS/Mobile App enabled units where you can use "Find my Device" features
Thank you. I just ordered the voice caddy, your 1 pick. Lost mine last week. This will be a big upgrade 😊

Stoked you've had a good experience - it's such an insane value for what you get.

I see a new Canon rangefinder is out or coming out. Looks pretty good. Look forward to seeing your review on it…..great video as always.
Yeah, seems like such an odd choice for Canon ha. But considering I shoot with all Canon equipment, I'm hoping I can get my hands on one to try out!

No Red Tiger at $80 is a crazy good deal with all features and accurate???

Great update. Shame the TL1 is not available in the UK.
I wish the new Garmin rangefinder had the triangulation you get with the Cube. Also wish the cube had a built in magnet.
My range finder stops working when there is fog in SF.. everything becomes 15 yards even though i can see the flag with my naked eye .. any tool that works best in these conditions?
your best bet would be a GPS unit, either a watch or a standalone device. or go old school and pace everything off from yardage markers :)
I was stunned, thought voice caddy cube would win
I was hoping the tec tec klyr would be on the list. What was the reason it wasn't?

Totally, for some people a standard GPS/watch is a way better fit!
Get my TL 1 tomorrow
When do we get a video on the best pull carts?
Have you tried the Swingman range finder than connects to the Grint app?
I haven't! Have you?

@@patrick33234 Just looked it up, I actually hadn't heard about it/seen it. Looks interesting! Will see if I'm able to get my hands on one!
you should have tested the Cigman ct 1000 range finder
Yeah, I just got mine. Pretty nice and for $71.98 it was a steal!
Where's the Red Tiger?
I picked the TL1 up earlier this year for 250 during a sale… nothing will touch it at that price.

Surprised to see the CaddyTalk not even included never mind not in the top 3.
Agreed. I have the Cube and love it. Went from the Blue Tees Max 3 and the Cube is far superior.
