I appreciate your disciplined open-mindedness, it gives value to your opinions. Here in Poland, everyone I know who's got an opinion on the US/China debate is generally unwilling to be charitable to the other side, which is just intellectually dishonest. I might lean pro-China, but I don't think the US deserves ALL the criticism it receives, and this works both ways.

I found your story of the airport very concerning... I thought America wanted to put in at least some effort to combat Covid but it seems that too was just another lie and their effort is literaly 0 it seems? Great I can see yet another mutation coming... Well if this continues at least we will not have to worry about overpopulation soon anymore lol... PS and pardon I will have to correct what I said in the chat: I just checked the population for Germany and it´s *down, again,* to 83 million(for 2020) this time, down from 84,7 million in 2019 which effectively means covid and its various mutations have already cost us 1,7 million lives in Germany alone. Oh and speaking of this topic: I just heard that for the first time in over 2 decades McDonalds is actualy having a problem finding workforce. And the lame excuse of: "Oh the people rather sit on their 300 dollar monthly payment" is so BS because first of all, these payments don´t occur anymore since months and secondly, 300 is not even enough to feed your family let alone pay the rent, this statement is just utter BS and a very pathetic and desperate attempt to mask the cold hard truth that covid already killed well over a hundred million people globaly(do the math, given that except China covid is everywhere and most people had it twice by now and the death rate is 1,4%, we can confidently say hence well over a hundred million people by now, and countries here and there suddenly missing a few hundred thousand or million people is a direct result of that. 1.4% is not much and for now most people won´t really notice the effect, this will however change if the pandemic is not put under control). Seing these new numbers and calculations , we even start to lack workforce now, we can be sure that it has by now reached a proportion of a few hundred millions and with each mutation and the pandemic not under control the number will climb up... But honestly at this point I really don´t care anymore, I will never forget how I was ridicilued for being 1 of the few and first people to take this seriously and wear a mask and everything. May they die, they had their chance, it´s better for the planet and ultimately for the human race anyway. I am beyond feeling empathy for these souls anymore. Biological iron rule: A speciess that grows too rapidly without any acting control mechanism sooner or later extincts itself. To think the human is any exception to this rule is pure and irrational arrogance.
Thinking of this... lol if this trend continued we could be left with a very ironic and funny picture: If this keeps continuing at some point easily like with the black plague 60-90% of all mankind will be gone... well not quite, 60-90% minus 1,4 billion chinese... lmao this would mean the world would literaly be predominantly nearly all chinese only lmao. Lol maybe spreading this word around will give westerners more incentive to take this serious. Haha imagine telling them that if they continue the world will only be left with chinese xD Oh the irony lol.

I think most of western countries just gave up the management of the virus because the infected cases have been there for a long time, those governments and the people just used to it . And most importantly, business is the priority to the people in capitalist world. People won’t complain the results because the process has been “democratic “. People choose to accept what they want individually and responsible for themselves. In China, if 600000 deaths happened, Chinese people won’t accept the results and won’t forgive the CPC for sure , even the deaths of flooding in Henan province, people have accused the government all over the Chinese social media for a long time

I’m a guy who moved from China to America twenty seven years ago in 1994. The first impression of the States was like a paradise comparing to the backward China then. Over the years, I have seen the US with my own eyes, in my neck of the woods, moving along slowly but surely. Every few years when I traveled to China to see my family, I was always amazed by the speed the country moving forwards, with its own share of problems though. I love both countries. I do sense the gradual changes of mentalities in these two countries over the years. In China, people become more positive, more confident, more unified and less ideological. While in the US, people’s confidence, sense of humor and sense of righteousness are fading; ideologies have been playing ever bigger roles in society, which polarized the society as a result.
I blame the media and politicians for the current situation in the US. In the first a couple of years after I moved to the States, I started to realize the media were fanning the ideological flame with sensationalism and judgmental self- righteousness shit, left and right. I knew then, in a couple of decades they were going to tear the society apart. Another reason why the US is become more polarized is that majority of politicians, especially those congressmen, have law background. In a lawyer’s mind, the world IS polarized - right or wrong/win or lose. This is how their minds work. They were trained that way. There is little middle ground. They too, bear the blame of polarizing the mass. In contrast to US, China’s officials mostly got some type of engineering or management background and moving up in a meritocracy system. Those people have a mentality of ‘system integration’. So, to them, the focus is to solve problems. They see everything as resources. ‘Right or wrong’ is less of a concern. That way, they have less barriers to get people to work together toward some common goals. So now the diverging of the two countries’ paths is so obvious and the results are so much different.

thanks for sharing those eperiences. I can confirm what you wrote about lawyers.. spent 6 years of my life at the university of Zurich studying law.. and once i was done, chose not to start working as a lawyer, become a DJ instead and move to thailand
The reason for that was.. i started to study law becasue i cared for justice.. and thats not what our legal system is about. not at all.
what i learned in that time, is the law always can be interpreted in different ways. in theorie what a lawyer is trained to do is to interpret it the way it suits his customer.
But in real life.. what makes a sucessful lawyer are connections. its all about who you know (specially judges) and what agreements you make and how much they benefit from helping you. And i think thats an other problem in the US (really just what i think, nothing i have evidence for). they have the political establishment who doenst care about anything else then their personal benefit. Choices are not made in the interest of the nation, but in the interest of those who make them profit the most (mosttly large corporations via lobbyists)
I once came up with a saying: years ago when someone asked me whats the difference between china and the US. "in China the government controls corporations, in the US corporations control the government"

Way before Covid19, I worked extensively in Asia . My Asian coworkers sometimes would sometimes come into work with masks on , I found it a bit strange then . Only later did I found out they had a cold and was afraid they could infect others in the office . That was normal behavior in Hong Kong , Japan and Korea .

I think there's something to be said between seeing something from a distance as a whole versus then seeing it in your day-to-day life (I imagine the former is more objective, but you're at the mercy of the media and press in delivering you said info). Without question though, objectively, the US is much less concerned with the well being of its citizens than most other developed nations (there's been many studies done, this is the unfortunate reality). There's the same split (but not necessarily along the same boundaries) in the application of COVID measures.

Welcome back home, to ride on your new adventures. Blessed is he who has a strong purpose in life! Be safe and may everyday be great!
I've been back stateside for almost 1 year this month... America is far from being the same place that, I loved and had known for 66 years!
Totally unbelievable, if I hadn't seen it first hand!
The media being shown in China is far from showing reality here! If I had known, I truly would have stayed in Nanning with my family and have some beers with G 60, lol. I like you, have my family still safe and sound in Guangxi!
I came into Detroit, upon returning and saw the same things. I assumed the customs camera took my temperature. If I may say, it was the beginning of my disappointment of being home!
CORRECT you're in a different level or planet!
No buddy cares and they accepted their new normal life. Sorry, I don't watch TV. Simple things, you must explan a few times... I seldom leave my farm! Hope for the future has disappeared as many jobs are only future AI production areas.
Folks here wait for their ridiculous survial checks, sell drugs/ use them; I'm ~70' from the sheriff station. One of a dozen are sellers or working on the streets, this is a rural township of ~3000. The government has stepped up paying house payment that enables false flags.
I've lost a year of production on our farm because many things I had to wait up to six months before recieving my farm shipments.
    I need my taobao back!
Lowes took not 2 days as promised but, the eve of the 22nd day it came, a $1250 item with no refund possible from their website. Other purchases said in stock but, I'm still waiting for cause items are still at the dock in China, ufn.
A lot more of things but, people would say I'm too hard on my country!
Taobao has spoiled me with great servive. I've only have driven 120 miles away from the farm 2 times in a year and 4000 miles total in my truck, this last years.
Now, I'm preparing our farm for my granddaughter to have after high school if, she doesn't go to Beijing for university in eight years. Wake Forrest University is close to our farm. Springtime I must find a good manager to take over, long term.
Next summertime back to Guangxi to build out our new granny flat. Our son will keep our old home for his family.
Honestly, can't wait to return and enjoy a normal life!
What we do for our children and grandkids.
I don't remember this when we married. All in all it's ok.we make our own great days.

The United States is a great country. Although the US government is not working, the country is working because of bottom-up and ordinary people putting their sleeves up. Those who dismiss the United States do it at their own peril, because do not underestimate the vibrance of its people. Having said that, China is way more robust than people may think. It is not only depending on a strong government or the Party. The Chinese people are extremely hard working and they do know how to persevere and keep China growing, even if their government enacts wrong policies like in the US. The combination of good governance and embracement of economic reform and free capital has driven one of the most successful modernization stories ever told. The changes in China are irreversible and that is a good thing.

My Uncle and I were talking about you last night. He’s a 90-something retired Priest, now in a retirement center in Boston..but he spent over 45 years living with the indigenous Indians in the Andes in Ecuador, mainly building schools, health centers, farms and community center/libraries. Uncle Bob would come back to the states every 1-2 years to give TED talks and raise money for an orphanage he also built. He is NOT your typical Catholic Priest-he con-celebrated Mass with local Shamans, played his guitar during (and after) Mass. He’s extremely liberal because of his experiences and has had an ongoing, sometimes public, feud with a certain US Bishop. He was NOT a fan of Trump..he and my late Dad used to talk about their experiences as kids and teens in Europe during the 30’s..let’s just say, Trump brought back bad memories.
Anyways, as a VERY Cogent 90-something, watching from his retirement home (occasionally driving here to the Poconos to visit); even he has been shocked at the changes in our country the past 5-6 years. He had been doing a Hispanic mass in Boston for immigrants, visitors, citizens..it got shut down by the diocese in 2018. Bomb threats, constant vandalism..Uncle Bob was shocked it got to that level so quickly. He had been staying in an apartment owned by old family friends..but the diocese insisted he move to the retirement home for safety. Although he was no longer saying the Hispanic masses; he helped as a translator for other priests and worked as an advocate for some of the Hispanic families split up by Trumps new policies. He was receiving daily death threats. He was set to give a speech at Harvard about the indigenous peoples in South America. A certain Cardinal went on his favorite news network and said a “radical leftist priest” was going to be inviting South Americans to illegally immigrate..and that he would protect them in his “sanctuary city”. Uncle Bob usually isn’t the type to take false accusations (his talk was about their history & culture-it had NOTHING to do with immigration); but when a reporter from that network accosted him outside his private apartment and asked him about his supposed relationship with Hugo Chavez? He took the diocese up on their offer, replied to the accusations and just withdrew from everything he was doing at the time. He even tried to get “permission” from the church to live out the rest of his retirement in Ecuador, in the house he and his parishioners built for him 40 years ago. It was denied…in the sense that if he went, he would lose his retirement pay and health insurance. When my daughter and I found out who had blocked it, we tried to get Uncle Bob to go over his head to the Pope-who he had known well for 45 years and they used to play golf together. Uncle Bob said he didn’t want to “rock the boat. Then COVID and the whole thing was impossible anyways.
Anyhow, Uncle Bob said you’re probably going to have a culture shock and many things here in your home country, are going to seem “foreign”. While I am not specifically “anti-abortion”, nor obviously is Uncle Bob; the law passed in Texas the other night will be PAYING, neighbors, church members..$10,000 to report women who were either planning to have an abortion, driving someone to one, working as a doctor or nurse in a facility providing them…OH, ALSO, think maybe your neighbors miscarriages weren’t “normal”? REPORT & become eligible for a $10k REWARD! Bounty hunting pregnant women..THIS is where our country as gotten to. “Individual freedom”? Only for White Males. This new draconian law severely restricts access to polls in minority districts, repeals the historical Sunday voting that Black churches have done for over 100 years. Much, MUCH more in this INSANE, Blatantly unconstitutional Bill (it’s called SB8 If you want the details) law which EVERY other Red State is carbon-copying to pass in their states. SCOTUS? Much to even Conservative Chief Justice John Roberts Shock-Trump’s 3 appointees were able to block it from even being discussed. The new voting laws in this bill were specifically designed to assure a permanent Republican victory. Cuz, you know..despite even many of the most highly respected Republican election officials (at least they were before the election); Trump’s own DOJ..ALL stated this last election was the closest watched and most secure. NOW? Because they refused to go along with Trump’s long planned coup, (he was telling his rallies shortly after he was inaugurated in 2017 that “the only way we will lose in 2020 is if they steal the election.” Trump knows from years of doing Real Estate that if you’re going to lie, LIE BIG. AND repeat it, constantly, until it becomes fact. Remember that pesky thing called COVID? “Nothing to worry about folks”. He and his supporters in media so completely politicized this International health crisis? Well, you’ve seen the results. I live in a tiny, ultra conservative town in the Poconos. 92 new Delta cases since Monday. My dear friend & personal physician who co-owns a local nursing home said “I’ve never cried about something like this before..I cry almost nightly over the preventable deaths in this area..and our patients and their families being rabidly against the vaccines, masks, social distancing..you can’t convince them otherwise.”
Our tiny local community hospital-8 ICU Beds, all full with COVID patients, including a teenager and a 25yr old. We have 7 more patients on the floor awaiting an open bed either here or in Scranton. As far as we know, none of these people had been vaccinated.
People say COVID isn’t anything to worry about, especially if you’re young and healthy..right? Tell that to my daughter’s otherwise healthy fiancé in Buffalo..or my precious 31yr old, healthy SON. Oh, wait..you can’t. My Son DIED on June 19th this year. His cause of death? “Post-COVID Syndrome CVA”-a STROKE, a blood clot in his brain. He had COVID last October and had been diagnosed with long-haulers syndrome, but we thought it was just minor lung damage and some brain fog. He was over-the-moon that he’d just gotten his VISA to return to China-which he loved with a passion and had dragged me onto his bandwagon. CJ had spent most of his life traveling , volunteering, teaching building/gardening/cooking and language skills. He was supposed to return to China last month, work with his old friends to distribute affordable solar panels, eco-stoves and ovens, and water purification systems to impoverished areas-mainly Nepal and India.
My daughter’s wonderful fiancé? He got COVID in July 2020. His actual infection wasn’t bad, but my daughter came home from work one morning (she’s a nurse practitioner in an ER), he was unconscious on the kitchen floor. He’d had a severe stroke-he survived, but has been relearning to walk, talk, function everyday. Like Daniel, he had owned 2 craft beer pubs in upstate NY. He lost his businesses.
Me, my dear Uncle Bob, my girls..we haven’t left this country; but no longer recognize it. We just can’t wrap our heads around people who refuse to listen to doctors and scientists..instead? “Oh, this guy on the radio said the vaccine wasn’t tested long enough; but if we inject Equine Horse Wormer, made for a 1500lb horse? YEP! THAT will knock it out!”
COVID isn’t the only thing that’s become endemic…lack of critical thinking and hypocrisy have spread across this country with a vengeance. Add in some willful ignorance? Exactly the formula-along with a large, very diverse, unprotected population-PERFECT for ongoing mutations. I have to wonder who these people think they are propagandizing…the Unity and compassion of Americans? Or a deadly virus that has found VERY fertile ground to continue spreading..and mutating…and it WILL, *THAT* is a fact. Over 1000 Americans are dying every day..and my research papers that I still get are saying they have identified 3 sub-variants of DELTA, HERE, in the US. Delta has already shown it has a much higher mortality rate among young people. My daughter has 3 children, under 16, in her hospitals ICU.
NO vaccine mandate, few if any mask or social distancing mandates (cause, according to Trump supporters interviewed a few weeks ago? It’s BOTH communist AND Fascist..and THEY “don’t want to be sheep!” Nope, NO ONE is gonna tell them they MUST wear a mask! That’s what the radio & TV people tell them to do-“DON’T wear a mask, it takes away yer FreeDUMB!”
Sorry about the novel..I’m having a tough day..lots of those recently. I miss my little Prince terribly; it literally hurts my heart to watch our country descend into some crazy alternate reality. On top of all that..every day our military industrial complex seems to ramp-up the anti-China rhetoric. 😔. My Son had planned on bringing me over to China once he was settled. His friends and my friends on WeChat want me to still go..but, even with my old research team over there in BJ..I’m not sure China wants an older lady with health issues right now.
I’m gonna go take a shower & cry for awhile…that actually helps. ❤️🇨🇳☮️

Reading you lost your son to a Covid infection from last October felt like a punch in the gut. Given that China along with Vietnam, New Zealand, ... completely eradicated Covid within their borders by early April last year, any death after last May in the richest country on the planet can only be described as a gross negligence manslaughter. But we can't point finger at any individual. It's a collective decision by the nation to go this route. No point to get into who's right, who's wrong or who's good, who's bad. We live by the system and we die by the system. Wish you all the best.

I came back from China with my wife too some months ago. My wife was issued her temporary green card in about 5 minutes. After that the customs people told us we'd have to fill out a form for the 10k we had with us. Said they didn't want to have to make us do it, but by law they had to. As soon as they had us put our bags on the table an officer with higher authority came through and waved us though. Didn't make us open our bags or sign any forms. I've had that kind of treatment by Cambodian customs before, but I never thought I'd recieve from officials at DTW. Lol, we touched down in the same place.

But when I think of the number of people who died or could die due to the virus, I have no hesitation to wear masks and sacrify my personal freedom for a while, until one day the effective vaccine finally come. The solitary I experienced during pandemic makes me started to appreciate the necessity of connecting with people. We human kind is very powerful in many things, but can be extremely venerable and fragile at some moment too.
