For 4 years of my teaching career, I am actually trying to find an answer to my question and you, ma'am, have given me the answer! :) Thank you very much! :D Teaching literature, especially those of *ehem* "ancient" times is somewhat out of place to the high school students of today. I find it really difficult. I often ask, "What will they get from this?" "Why do they need to read this?" "How will this become significant to them?" And so, I found my answer! :D Thanks!
Hiya. Really good advice. I have a trial run tomorrow at a school - teaching literature to grade 10. Studying THE CLEVER MAGISTRATE, really nervous, this helps a little. Thanks.
I love the Idea you're trying to spread! we are not expected to have the same opinion about a painting, a movie or a piece of art, so why should do we be expected to share the same moral/ opinion from literature ! but the question is, can you get the student to relate each story/ piece of literature to their lives?
i'm a student..can someone please give me a short story about gender roles focusing on men, wrote by a known author..i really really need it..i hope you can help me..thank you!
Yes, that was worth listening to! Rare real, helpful teaching advice. Thank you.

She is still telling them the "answers" by prodding them in such a directed way... self defeating video
